Updated preferred line-up in light of the news:

    De Gea
    Varane - Maguire - Martinez
    AWB - Fred - Casemiro - Bruno/Eriksen - Shaw
    Garnacho - Rashford
Yeah let’s play a back 3 despite not playing one before. Good idea. Also Maguire…

So Antony is definitely out? His presser on him felt less clear.

Even though they aren't in good form, you have to respect the firepower and not be naive to the very present danger of an abolute hammering if they get going like in the first derby.

I'd play a 3-5-2 in this one to try to properly account for their primary threats, Haaland and De Bruyne.

    My team would be:
    De Gea
    Varane - Maguire - Martinez
    Dalot - Fred - Casemiro - Bruno/Eriksen - Shaw
    Martial/Antony - Rashford

This is the team that gives us the best chance to win IMO.
Have we played a 352 under EtH?

If we’ve really learnt our lesson then he’ll know eriksen is a liability in this game. Bring him on if we’re chasing a goal by all means but we need energy in that midfield. Casemiro and Fred would be more solid. Fred will press all day and force mistakes.

He didn't say anything about Antony, nothing wrong with him? Martial only trained today so is questionable. Dalot out. Van de Beek out. Rest are fine.

Really can't call this one. Hopefully we're not as naive as earlier in the season, but City look like they've been struggling a bit. No doubt they'll put in a better show tomorrow than they did midweek. It's certainly a test of how far we've come and I'm glad we're going to approach it playing the way we want to rather than on the defensive.

I don’t know, I would not totally be against a front 3 of Rashford, Elanga, Weghorst.
Sounds ridiculous, but I still think that pace and physical strength might still be our best bet against them.
On the other hand I of course want to see progress, meaning we play our own style.
Weghorst was never going to be involved

    Lineup I expect from City

    Ederson
    Walker Akanji Ake Cancelo
    KDB Rodri Silva
    Mahrez Haaland Foden

I think Stones being out is a big blow for them, having said that, Rodri was out last time and look how that panned out.

Obviously still a tough test for us. We have the best defensive record at home this season, Old Trafford has become something of a fortress, and bar that horror show against Brighton, only Newcastle have taken away anything from OT.

Trying to work out how early we'll give Halaand a goal (I did predict in the first game that he'd score more than our entire team...)

It's a shame we couldn't get a loan over the line in time for Wout to be an option for the last 10 mins

after probably 10 years or so I am looking forward to play against Citeh. bring it on. We now atleast have a fair shot and I fancy a close 3-2 win or a draw.

No we haven't but I think it could work tomorrow because we have the personnel to execute it effectively. Good composed central defenders, combative midfielders in Casemiro and Fred and speed up top with Rashford and Garnacho to keep their CBs honest.

Our current formation, while being progressive, leaves us far too exposed in midfield because Bruno basically plays like a forward and barely offers any help in midfield and Eriksen is non-existent off the ball. The teams we've faced recently have not punished those gaping holes because they don't have the quality. City will punish us if we give them that space tomorrow.

I doubt he's going to change the formation anyways but I would do it.

My wife has attended 10 matches this season. We have won all 10. We are 2-1-2 in the 5 matches she couldn’t go. As it stands, she won’t be attending this weekend…

Other than that, I feel confident about us this weekend. Excited even.
    Ffs, what's the excuse?

    ...................... De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Varane Martínez Shaw
    ....... Eriksen Casameiro Fred
    .. Antony....... Bruno....... Rashford...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bruno as a false 9. It would allow us to play a more defensive midfielder (Fred) and he seems to really like Casameiro and Eriksen. Plus with Martial being out, I don't see too many more options.
Didn't we try that the last time round?

Martial is a doubt who happened to train today with no obvious reaction - I reckon he'll play. More because I'm hoping Rashford doesn't get moved away from his best position

That and we literally play better with Martial up top than anyone else.

Sort of annoying Weghorst won't be ready yet, I was hoping for him to come on and bag a winner

    I went with -

    De Gea

    Bissaka (Dalot injured)
    Varane
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Casemiro
    Fred
    Eriksen

    Bruno
    Martial
    Rashford

Don’t think we’ll change our game plan but I think ETH might want the pressing of Fred in there. Eriksen probably more consistent than Bruno with the final ball and Bruno out right, where he has played at times.

    I see a draw. 2-2.
