Of course. Only the game vs United is their cup final. Get Pep'd, lite Pep!

Arsenal were awful. Did they even register a shot in the second half? Man City played that in 2nd gear.

Funny as they still had Gabriel, Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Tomiyasu and Nketiah on the pitch and ended it with Zincheko, Odegaard, Martinelli and Saliba on the pitch.
Yeah some are making it sound like they rested everyone. Literally all the first choice players were on the pitch.

Given the rest they have between each game it’s a very odd attitude when trying to create a winning culture.

I don't understand how people think this changes anything in the league. This time in January 15/16, Spurs battered Leicester who changed their team significantly out the cup. Remember how that impacted the league title race?

It’s a poor attitude from Arteta considering they’re playing 1 game a week and today was a free hit to go all out against the only team that can derail his title bid. Instead he and Arsenal flopped. City played that as if it was a testimonial.

More pressure on Arteta to win the league, if he's throwing the cups to concentrate on the title race they have to win it

Agree with you. Weird some Arsenal fans are celebrating it.

If Caicedo deal does happen, Arteta would have got another insane backing £100m in summer and £100m plus now in winter. Let us not forget they were the highest spender last season as well in the summer 2021 transfer.

The man is working on a good budget so I hope this myth dies that he is working on limited budget.

Does make sense though, if you gave them that money next summer it won't put them in a better position than they are in now to win the title.

I said this before the game: Lego couldn’t care less about this fixture and it showed from the way he lined up. He’s going all out for the league. Replay nicely avoided as well.

Blessing in disguise

The FA Cup means nothing to them given they're fighting for the title after so many years. A rested squad gives them that edge in the remaining games.

Everyone was expecting you to beat an out of form City team and send a message.

You failed.
We rotated havily and the inensity wast there. Felt like our match to Brighton when you just felt the edge was off.

Were a different animal in the league.

But I was expecting it. In a Gary Neville voice 'will this result be a phycological blow to Arsenal, will they wither and allow this result to blow up their season'. All thats missing is a Beethoven score to heighted the dramatic reaction to an FA Cup exit.

This game will have no impact on our approach to City in the league, for better or worse.

100%. I myself said when mudryk deal was about to happen, it's a good time to invest and back.

But I just find it funny when I see Arsenal fans in social media acting as if their manager is working on limited budget.

I'm not sure where that myth gets said, because it's mentioned in the Caf nearly every day that he's been backed.

All your first choice players got on the pitch. It was a lifeless performance which would have me at least a little concerned.

You’re playing one game a week and had an opportunity to knock out City and lay down a marker. Not only that look at getting a cup double.

Getting beat by City at The Etihad in a tight game isn't concerning. Losing 5 and 6 goals against them at The Etihad is concerning.

Is that really surprising? They struggled to beat us at the Emirates despite the fact that we had only 3 days rest vs their 6, and with us missing 3 of our starting 11. This leads me to believe that it is unlikely that Arsenal can cope with a high volume of games, and remains to be seen how they will handle the rest of the season. If I were them, i would put all of my eggs in the Premier League basket. If they win it, they won't care about a foregone FA cup.

Good point. Henry made it too after the game v United.

I've seen you reference 2005 a few times now. Move on mate. We've been here more than half our adult lives now if you didn't notice.
that’s why you should have a modicum of awareness when advising other people about their “flowery prose”. Get over yourself, kid.

I never specified about Caf posters. It is the general consensus that not only some arsenal fans have but also some neutrals have used as an excuse. Arsenal have spent good amount of money and arteta has received enough backing is the point I was making.

I just think everyone expected more and that performance was very poor. You have a week either side of this game and should have been pumped to win this and send a message (whilst positioning yourself nicely for a cup double).

You looked comfortable in losing a knock out cup game…
fair enough, but I would go as far to say we looked more on edge against United especially in the first half than against City today. Maybe it’s because it’s a cup game? That being said City also looked half arsed.
