If you want to keep him and he wants to stay, and you can cough up 15-20m € in summer, he won't be heading back.
Maybe. There's too many variables, too early to predict anything.

The club is up for sale. It might be sold and money might not be an issue for next ownership, and we might go for the best CM on the market regardless of valuation. Like spunk 100m on Frankie De Jong or something.
Or it could still be up for sale with no money available for transfers.

Also last year's target, Rabiot, will be free. He might still be ETH's preference, instead of paying 20m for Sabitzer. Who knows.

Like I said, too many unknowns. Sabitzer's performances included.

I don't buy this. Ducker, Mitten and the Athletic have been talking about no money and loans only all month because of the sale. United just found out how long Erkison is out for today, I doubt they got the green light for 20mill or whatever he would cost. Knowing all this I bet a fee was never talked about just a loan.

If you remember the captain of every team we face then that’s a minimum of 22 players per season. For a player several years ago it’s obviously higher, especially with the player having since moved so not being where you associate with them. This is particularly daft when he wasn’t even the only RB Leipzig captain in games against Manchester United that season, with Gulacsi having the armband at Old Trafford

Being this condescending is really very daft.
It's not condescending. Just because you heard something doesn't mean you actually listened. People pick up on things and are more observant than others, and they are very busy with life too.

And the guy had a ponytail like hair style, played in the middle of the park, and was captain of a very good RB Leipzig team.

United played them just over 2 years ago in two group stage matches that saw 10 goals total. And during Covid lockdown, Bundelsiga was the first league to restart, so that was most everyone's football fix.

This kinda makes me angry, but as I said, I'm just batshit crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I like Sabitzer :) What I need is someone to point me in the right direction. Someone needs to explain to me why I'm the only one feeling this way.
Reading between the lines, it is possible we would have tried to buy him in the summer. Seems as if we've been following him and scouting him. But perhaps the Erksen injury forces us to bring him in early, which i don't think is a bad thing.

It might be Fred. It might be McTominay. It might be Sabitzer. It will probably depend on form and availability.

He's a decent player and he's on loan. You don't tend to get world class players for a 6-month loan on the 31st of January. At least we have some depth to rotate again.
Thats what we're all dreading mate. :nervous:

Agreed. Unless he's referring to some structure that would have instalments due from next year onwards(?) Stretching

Sabitzer is actually a good player. Why are Bayern willing to let him go out on loan?
They have a ton quality in that position and Sabitzer wasn’t getting any minutes. They also just brought in Cancelo so probably want to balance out their wage bill.

Option to buy in the deal supposedly, I’m really wxcited with this transfer, must admit I’m pleasantly surprised with United. Sabitzer was class at RBL. Their captain as well.

and Sabitzer was a sub in one of those games, in fact he came on at 1-0 in a game that finished 5-0. Which you would know if you were the observer you claim to be.

Saul Niguez used to be that "dream signing" that so many people wanted. Now Atletico can't even gift the sad bloke.

So let me get this straight. I'm obviously batshit crazy, so please show me the way.

Our team is on a roll, but everyone is aware we're a couple of injuries away from panic stations. January comes and it's almost gone when one of those dreaded injuries happen. We reach out to Munich on the last day of the window to loan us a CM.

Were we "lucky" that Eriksen was injured in January as opposed to February?
Are we damn efficient in getting a quality loan in just a day?
Are we just a tad incompetent for getting into this position in the first place?

See, I don't think Sabitzer was only made available for loan today. Maybe he was? Help me out here. I think Eric wanted another CM badly this Jan, but only got his wish after a key player was injured.

This kinda makes me angry, but as I said, I'm just batshit crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I like Sabitzer :) What I need is someone to point me in the right direction. Someone needs to explain to me why I'm the only one feeling this way.

Thanks!
I have a theory that Eriksen's injury isn't going to be for as long as people think. It just created a opportunity for united to get a more suitable player for that role so we did it. I'm very excited about this deal.

you are feeling like this because you forget that we are owned by the Glazers, but they are on their way out.

I would have felt the same way if there was no sale process going on in parallel. We are also very skint for cash at the moment.

if this deal gets announced, we basically bought 2 players on loan who will be in the first 13-14 players, for the outlay budget for 1/2 a season of Ronaldo moping on the bench.

Flight is currently over Belgium!

This is the plane the specimen is arriving in if anyone is interested!

I’ve had a quick reminder on YouTube of his qualities. I’m convinced he’s probably the best midfielder in Europe right now.

I really, really like this deal. I think this is a massive coup given the circumstances we were in at the start of the day.

I suspect he'll be better than Eriksen has been for us as although he's been important to the team, he's had less impact than I was expecting. So a good move from that perspective. I hope that it being temporary means we have a big midfield signing in the summer when he returns to Bayern

I like your reasoning :)

I still hate getting players on loan, though. But, needs must

I remember Saul Niguez and Aouar being highly sought after not long ago. In fact Arsenal fans were crying out for Aouar to be signed summer of last season. Just shows how things change quickly!

This is at least strengthening the position we need with an experienced Austrian international who is accustomed to pressing. We couldn’t hope for more without cash to spend

Very happy with this deal. Was gutted when we didn't get him from RB before as he always looked good whenever I saw him in the CL.

He will go straight into first XI.

Would be great if he makes Merson look the clown that he is!
Not really sadly. Pundits like him and Souness will continue to be proven wrong with absolutely no accountability and at best laugh whilst they half admit they were wrong then get another multi million pound contract. Best to just tune them out entirely.

Has Aouar gone to shite or something? I remember when Lyon reached the CL semis a few years ago, he looked fantastic.
Stagnated not getting a move earlier and playing multiple positions, being used left wing a lot instead of honing in on his ability in the middle. I'd still take him for sure, depending on the money making sense, but yeah he's not as sought after as a couple of seasons ago
