Has Mbappé become the poster boy for footballs greed and excess?

Discuss!

His much vaunted move to Madrid never materialised as he chose the mega money option and stayed at PSG, and now with the Parisians inability to win the ultimate prize in European football, he is being linked with a mega money move to OT, assuming we are flooded by Qatari oil wealth.

Has Mbappé unwittingly become the ultimate mercenary or do his talents warrant such a price and salary?

Mbappe to United is never going to happen. Not sure I would want him. I am ok with Rashford doing his bit for the club being a local lad.

If he is smart, he will leave. Should just see Neymar and how he has wasted his career at PSG

Luckily there are still talented players who follow their heart and say no to money like Haaland, instead of taking the money like Mbappe and Sanchez.

He's being linked to a move when the club hasn't been sold yet ? That's smells like fiction
That’s the point. He’ll only be seen as a realistic signing if we end up with ME owners, because mega bucks it would take to transfer him and pay him. He’s not coming to test himself in the PL or for the love of United.

Have to say as great as he is, he’s such an unlikeable player too. Greedy on the field and off.

So not only have you invented a scenario of mbappe joining United in your head - you’ve also now invented his motives too?

I dunno, he has to play somewhere. Why not United?
I was told he plays as a 9 tonight so he could actually play alongside Rashford which would be ridiculous. Honestly scary.
Any space at all and the opposition defence is dead

Why do people romanticize Totti/Gerrard playing their entire career for Roma/Pool... And at the same time can't draw similar parallel for Mbappé staying in the club of his city (although he started pro football in Monaco..)?

Cool man. I feel the real difference between the two is consistency and maybe Rashford lacks the finishing skills a bit. If Mbappe comes, he comes, don't care.

I mean, a big part of me is done with him, but honestly - how can any team not be?

If EtH keeps improving Uniteds overall game and you get Mbappe, I feel it would be fair to say you would be favorites for the PL. Those who are saying they would rather have Rashford  :lol:Reminds me of the posters claiming McT playing over Casemiro was normal.

Surely Ronaldo is the biggest mercenary as he clearly cares feck all about any of the clubs he played for and is now playing at Al-Something for 1 million per day.

Oh okay. The answer is no then. He earns far less than Messi and Ronaldo did. Or is it the fact he’s still playing in his home city that makes him such a big huge mercenary?
He’s on over a million dollars a week allegedly. You think PSG could sustain such a wage if the they weren’t bankrolled by an Emir? He’s been linked to City, Newcastle and now ourselves. Why is that?

Tell me, how much was Messi paid at Barca? What do they still owe him? What is PSG paying him?

In response to the OP, he is just what 24 years old? He has won a WC and a golden boot at another WC. IF he were to win the CL with PSG he would be seen as being key to that instead of taking the 'easier' route to success with RM.

Being as good as he is will always mean he is linked to the wealthiest clubs, it has always been the way, just the number of really wealthy clubs is reduced. If he were to go to say Newcastle this summer (wont happen) thrn the answer would be undoubtedly yes. Coming to OT, a natural fit for agiant club and a World class player.

He’s still on less than Ronaldo or Messi were. What does PSG being bankrolled by an emir have to do with anything? Is their money more mercenary than Madrid and Barcelonas? And he’s linked to those clubs (except Newcastle - something else you’ve invented hypothetically) along with Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona because they’re the richest clubs on the planet. The very same clubs Haaland and Haaland senior stopped off at during their winter tour prior to moving. So what’s the point here? He’s the poster boy mercenary because he isn’t being linked to Sunderland? Or Wycombe?

Because they’re hypocrites. Football needs a pantomime villain, and Mbappe has been elected to be it ever since he chose not to join Madrid
