Has Mbappé become the poster boy for footballs greed and excess?

Was he going to pay to play every time he walked into the Bernabeu?

Tell me, how much was Messi paid at Barca? What do they still owe him? What is PSG paying him?
Reportedly Mbappé's current deal pays him like 300 millions euros over 2 years. Messi got 500 millions over 4

Because they’re hypocrites. Football needs a pantomime villain, and Mbappe has been elected to be it ever since he chose not to join Madrid
It is the clear sign of a VILLAIN to reject Real Madrid. He's the worst person in history!

Discuss!

His much vaunted move to Madrid never materialised as he chose the mega money option and stayed at PSG, and now with the Parisians inability to win the ultimate prize in European football, he is being linked with a mega money move to OT, assuming we are flooded by Qatari oil wealth.

Has Mbappé unwittingly become the ultimate mercenary or do his talents warrant such a price and salary?
If he wouldn't be a local lad from Paris things would be different. It's not the worst place or team to leave from? Although Real came calling, we never know, not everyone had become a serious GOAT in Real Madrid.

He’s still on less than Ronaldo or Messi were. What does PSG being bankrolled by an emir have to do with anything? Is their money more mercenary than Madrid and Barcelonas? And he’s linked to those clubs (except Newcastle - something else you’ve invented hypothetically) along with Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona because they’re the richest clubs on the planet. The very same clubs Haaland and Haaland senior stopped off at during their winter tour prior to moving. So what’s the point here? He’s the poster boy mercenary because he isn’t being linked to Sunderland? Or Wycombe?
You’re just being silly now, and seem to have taken the discussion topic personally which is super weird.
Thing is you can see clear progression in Haalands career building club by club to where he is now, but Mbappés move to Paris from Monaco (at the time) seemed a sideways step with the key factor being money. Again when his contract was up for renewal he could have moved to Madrid which is undoubtedly a few levels higher than Ligue Un, but ultimately chose to stay in Paris and boost his bank balance.
Now he is linked anywhere with a sudden influx of wealth ( not saying that’s his fault) and we have a forum full of people twerking for oil owners on the basis they will buy him for United. Is this simply a question of cash and why is he seemingly unwilling to test himself at a higher level when we saw in the WC what he’s capable of?

Why do people romanticize Totti/Gerrard playing their entire career for Roma/Pool... And at the same time can't draw similar parallel for Mbappé staying in the club of his city (although he started pro football in Monaco..)?
You answered your own question. Nobody would bat an eyelid if he stayed his entire career at Monaco but he didn’t, and his move seemed to be a sideways step rather than a career progression.

I think the journalists are just doing the rounds here. Sky sports said the Qatar investors would be willing to put money into the team which is somewhat common sense. Journalist can speculate this information which sky have stated with no source and there's a narrative that the club would pursue the most valuable player on the market at present time. Nonsense imo.

Monaco isn’t his home city… Paris is!

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
He’s playing for his hometown club alongside some of best players in the world and getting paid a fortune. Best player in the world and already a WC winner with another runners up medal bagging a nice little hat-trick in the final, already has 250+ goals and all at the grand old age of 24. I do expect him to move on within a few years but he’s living the dream.

None of this matters until he dares play against Jagielka at Stoke City (the betXY stadium) a rainy Wednesday night… Until then he is just playing meaningless football against Bayern and Argentina.

We can't afford him anyway, not with our own clean money.

To assess whether he is a mercenary, he would have to be at a club where he felt a great attachment earning 10 million and see what he would do if someone offered him 15, for example.
The amounts(with unofficial,if any) that Mbappe and Haaland earn make it difficult to value. It is a contract too good.
For his talent, yes, I think he deserves a top salary, one of the highest, whatever is the league where he will play.
For motivation I think he seems one of the most demanding PSG players, more concerned about a competitive squad.

Stoke City. Bet365 Stadium (still known locally as the Brittania)
Nice cliche but Stoke would wipe the floor with all but a handful of the teams in Ligue Un. Games against Bayern and Argentina are largely meaningless when you lose them both!

Indeed

PSG is probably cheating on their wage books like City, PSG real revenue isn't big enough to pay Mbappe 1 million € a week, there is no way.

Thing is that with Al-Khelaifi in the UEFA committee they will never get caught.

If you're good at something, why do it for free?

He's not robbing a bank or scamming people, he's playing football. If someone wants to pay him 500k why would he settle for less?

Some of you would feck your employee off for a 20% raise somewhere, let alone refusing 500k / week in the name of "Oh I had enough I'm not that greedy"

Yeah fecking right

Did Mbappe really mention Manchester United in his most recent Instagram post.
When it's translated it mentions Manchester United but could be Instagram translation being weird.

Neither of those games were lost because of him, he could have a 2nd WC trophy if Lloris knew how to save penalties or his teammate scored their penalty.

According to FIFA rules, he actually didn't even lose the game against Argentina. You can't lose a draw.

Come think of it, its a crazy deal. Messi (500m over 4 years) and Ronaldo (200m per year as his last fat pay cheque, but mostly due to his commercial value) kind of earns that amount after years and years of building up their career, winning multiple ballon d'ors and scoring multiple 40-60+ goals for many years.

Mbappe hasn't even won a single Ballon D'or or an important club trophy yet, he is already on similar payroll.

He hasnt been linked to any of those clubs except by shit sources, there has been rumors linking him to every big/rich club but we all know none of them are true. You just picked the clubs that fit your narratives. The only club who ever approached PSG has obviously been Madrid, and the only club he's ever talked about is Liverpool, 2 clubs that dont have owners that belong to the category you are referring to.

He was born in Paris, won about 90 trophies and has won a World cup. Hardly like he's Carlos Tevez going to West Ham because his agent tells him to.

Mbappe really seems to bother a lot of people on here. Serious chip on their shoulders regarding him.

How dare a player stay at a top club in his home country, making a lot of money, doing well on an individual level, performing for his national team, when he could be at Real Madrid or in the PL.

Linked by who though ? You cannot just run away with any rumor you read on the internet
