This is the awkward part where loads of people have to do a U-turn with their views on state ownership in football

I think they will move away from PSG in the future

They only bought them to win the World Cup bid and the league interest is so low in Qatar

Pretty hard to build a CL winning team when you play in crap opponents every week

If you spend £5 billion on Man Utd in the best league in the world why have any effort in a club you got for £200m in such a boring league no one watches or cares about

Like the next time they want to spend their money on a Mbappe I would assume they would rather transfer them to us
I agree with this Messi is leaving in the summer, Neymar likely to be sold as per reports he is getting on a bit after all and Mbappe is on a short contract so won't be long will he's moving too.

So if we go head to head for a player which both PSG and United want, who will be preferred?
Apparently no one in Qatar watches the French league and they only bought PSG to win the World Cup bid

There's rumours that they want to sell a stake in PSG as well

Assuming it is the same people which I think we all are. PSG will be absolutely dead in the water. This is like owning a Corsa and a Ferrari and saying which one would you want to drive more.

Absurd money. If you think otherwise then you're dreaming. See PSG.
I don't think you can under the new FFP rules. It's linked to revenue now

Spending on infrastructure and stuff doesn't count though

Even if yiu don't care about Qatar's human rights record the ludicrous circus at PSG should put you off. Not that the Glazers will care. They will sell to the highest bidder.

I dont understand, but I respect your opinion. Is it a dream come true because of the investment in players we'll receive?

Look, I don't like the fact that to be competitive every big club needs a sugar daddy/oil state owner; but I'm pragmatic enough to understand that is the way the game has gone - City and PSG were just the beginning. I'm not going to say it's 'better the devil you know' with the Glazers, but at the same time, I'm never going to celebrate United becoming a sportswashing project for a state with an abysmal human rights record.

I want the club debt free, I want a new stadium or a OT re-development and I want to be able to spend money on whatever the squad needs I have zero interest where that money comes from in all honesty

City and PSG have been widely regarded within the game though, very rarely do you see City get criticised for what they've done on the pitch in the past 10 years

So we should be happy about basically fraud ownership?
I don't know? Just trying to explain to those that get caught up with the net worth of the official bidder. It's very common in GCC that they set up subsidiary funds to the sovereign wealth fund. They can't use QIA or QSI due to PSG ownership, so probably set up a completely new and non-related fund chaired by a guy noone knows who is - and giving him carte blanche from the QIA accounts - because the state really wants to own United

They have sold a stake of PSG. The club's now worth a few billion. It's pretty good returns financially

Please tell me people aren't naive and reading too much into the official value of the QIB. They'll be getting funding from elsewhere as well.
Yeah but years down the line shit like this that they are putting out, while all the while being bankrolled by the same lot who own PSG, makes it all a bit murky and suspicious.

Pretty funny to see a huge part of the community here sticking its head in the sand or trying to dance around the obvious when a lot were far more vocal when it was about PSG or City. The bid is obviously state backed and it won't be more virtuous than PSG.

Good luck trying to reconcile your values with the idendity of your owner. Welcome to our hell.

I have my misgivings about State ownership. But, surely if we play, say, PSG in a big Champions League tie then the stronger team wins. The owners win either way.

Most big name managers and players are both rich and and single minded about winning.

All this talk about sports washing. Can we instead say we’re a loss leader to make money on outside investment/ tourism of Qatar. Because it’s that. I’d rather this incentive than a financial incentive like what Glazers made which is bleeding us dry.

I hope no other bids come in. Qatar will blow them out the water anyway they've gone public now there's no way they'll lose a bidding war.

I want the Glazers to feck off with as less money as possible. Cnuts.
