I don’t think he always gets it right. But I do think he is good at learning from mistakes. I think we can all agree without any disrespect to his previous employers that this is by far the biggest job he’s had. It’s a huge job in so many ways but mostly in the sheer amount of graft required to transform the club into a winning club. A defeat, even our worst ever defeat, doesn’t really detract from his fundamental qualities imo.

I don’t think anyone is being serious about sacking ETH after this. Take those comments with a pinch of salt. I mean I am absolutely furious but mostly with the players. I would have picked a different team and a different formation but that’s just standard fan waffle.

Nah losing 7-0 to our biggest rivals is simply not something you brush under the carpet at all. It's a total embarrassment.
But as I said there were valid reasons for it and the fact we won the cup last week too takes some of the edge away.
Had we lost to Newcastle and still lost 7-0 there would be lots of Ten Hag out calls today. Thankfully we didn't and we won the final.
I still think he's a top manager and pleased we have him but he can't repeat this again. 6 at City and 7 at Liverpool needs to stop. Even if we have to play defensively. We can't get hammered again like that.
While I disagree with you at this point, it is worth stating that Pep and Klopp is a very high standard to hold a manager to. Pep is one of the greatest managers in history, and Klopp is probably second only behind him as the best manager in the last decade (I don't think there's another manager who could have had a team like Liverpool competing with Pep's city). It's a bit like people back in the day saying that a manager wasn't going to hit SAF's level of managerial ability. They probably would not, because he was an anomaly. Some managers are anomalies, just as some players are.
No one thought Pep or Klopp would hit the levels that they did when they got their first crack at a big club either, so time will tell how high ETH's peak will be. At this point he is the most exciting 'new' manager in world football for me.
That being said, our manager doesn't have to be in the undisputed top two managers in the world. It's perfectly acceptable for our manager to be a Luis Enrique/Ancelloti/Heynckes/Simeone level of manager who wins things and is considered very good but probably isn't considered the best of the best.
Exactly. People are completely blowing this out of proportion. It's one bloody game, and it's not like United lost more points or Liverpool gained more because it was 7-0 instead of 2-1 or whatever.

For all the mistakes he made in the match yesterday it's like many are forgetting in the first half we had the better chances and Liverpool barely had a shot on goal. We could have just as easily gone in at the break in front. The second half was purely down to the players heads going an giving up. That is not on Ten Haag to me. He made his mistakes but we were still in the game in the second half untill we conceded the second. After all he has done so far this season i can't blame him too much for yesterday. It's on the players.
Except for the fact we were down to 10 men in that game. The similarity was still going forward at 3/4 goals down rather than damage limitation - the manager should have got that message across fairly easily.
Agreed. Shocking individual errors and sloppiness. Lack of squad depth meant he couldn't rest key players who were having niggles yesterday.

Dude, people are allowed to be upset when their favourite team gets ripped to shreds by their biggest and bitterest rivals to a degree that they've literally never been ripped to shreds by those rivals before. Everyone will get back on the positive train soon enough, allow them time to be annoyed.

For EtH, I think he needs a lot more from the likes of Sancho, Antony, Dalot, McTominay, Wout (he's done really well to ease the workload on Rashford but there's no goals and barely even any shots), Lindelof etc. I said in another thread that i'm not giving up on Sancho or Antony but it's frustrating that neither of them seem capable of putting a good five-ten matches together and finally claiming that RW spot.

The squad still needs to be gutted just as it did when he took over. That’s the lesson to take from this, don’t settle, don’t get carried away by some of these players, don’t dish out lots of new contracts to too many of them.

Yeah the half time analysis on French TV was more to the tone of "Utd have been quite good, Liverpool were lively early on but faded and capitalized on a defensive error, but they're gonna have to be careful of the comeback, it's likely Utd will score". Which also kinda helps the distanciation from the result: it's an absolute freak occurrence that doesn't really say much about our season, nor does it say much about Liverpool's.
Considering all the stories that have find out from United players and ex players over the last few years, I dare say a couple of them would enjoy that as much as you!Ten Hag's controller was broken.
