But what has Ratcliffe or INEOS have to do with the CL? Its like writing an article about CL winners and then stick a photo of a Spurs player to it.

At the moment, yes...but what if Nice drastically improve in the next couple seasons to make the CL? It's hardly twilight zone stuff.

Why did they add Ratcliffe picture to that news? Its not as if INEOS teams has ever made it to the CL
Probably to emphasize the point that it’s a potential issue with both of our most likely new owners, since it’s usually only mentioned regarding PSG.

It doesn’t jut have to be CL. They were a cup final away for being in the same competition as United in this season alone.
I read somewhere that EL and CL are classed as the same competition of sorts due to the third placed teams dropping down to EL

still its sounds weird isn't it? Let's hope that they don't end up like Lausanne who were promised European football....

that makes sense. I think it would arrange a discriminatory system. Why should Red Bull be allowed to own two CL clubs but not Qatar/INEOS?

They havent but Nice isnt far off, 5th I think?
they are 7th. However UEFA might decide to focus solely on form in the past 10 games just as most pro SJR people do in here. In that case they'll probably make it :p

I mean - it certainly makes sense - but why only now.
Does it make sense? How can you guarantee integrity of competition when the same entity owns two clubs playing against each other. It’ll be like team orders in F1, letting the slower car through for the ‘good of the team’. It’s crap and it stinks

So this latest news on multi club ownership will be a major boost to City group as well.
They have been hoovering up clubs all over the world, I wouldnt be surprised if they went to Italy, Spain and Germany with their model now.
Imagine La Liga would welcome a new "Barcelona" as it seems like Barca are about to be destroyed as a club. Imagine Espanyol haha wow.

As for the ruling, I think it was always likely - PSG/Qatar have strong links to UEFA, they didnt want the superleague and the board of directors are on the UEFA board as members. Basically whatever they want will happen.

The multi club ownership model would never be a blocker in a potential Qatar takeover, they can grease the wheels no worries and even if theres an issue they can just change the rules to suit them.

Well precisely because Red Bull do it means that it should not be an issue with Qatar or INEOS

I dont think that would ever happen or be an issue, club ownership isnt like having the same manager or even board of directors or even CEO.
Each club would have its own objectives and would operate independently, I really dont get how people think that youd basically be the same club?

There would never be a situation where the clubs meet each other then some big boss phones up the manager of one and says - let the others win or your out.

Im sure most people would tell them to piss off and it would be a huge scandal.

Did you read carefully? I am in agreement with the controls but why only now.

That seems like it would create a sizeable conflict of interests.
Not an unusual occurrence at all. They are likely doing so either (I) from the public side of their information barrier as a market maker in the public shares, for which buying shares is their obligation as a market maker, or (ii) from the private side of the wall, working on behalf of their client to create a toe hold position.

  • Prospective Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to be at Old Trafford on Friday to receive a presentation on the potential sale process.

  • United staff have been outlining the workings of the club to various parties over the last week.

  • Representatives of Qatar's Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are due at the club on Thursday.

Sky Sports News are going to be camped outside with their cameras like a Deadline Day aren't they?
I feel we need a representative from the Cafe. I would but I have to wash my hair on both days. Otherwise, I'd have been there.

You can't and its been abused long before this, look at the city group, remember when New York City signed lampard and a couple of days later he was loaned back to Man City for the season.

Groups that own 8+ clubs now, the whole thing is too far gone now and there's no way anyone has the minerals to tear it all up and force these owners out so you are stuck with join them or accept you won't be as successful as you could. United could possibly be the enigma that breaks the rule, but its an exception to the rule rather then applicable to anymore then maybe 3/4 clubs.

You know, I would have hoped for Jassim to come to old Trafford - I would not be surprised if he comes now that he sees Ratcliff will be attending.

His advisers probably mentioned to Jassim that there is no need to come as the glazers would not be there, and it’s pure financial/legal conversations (you would think that as a chairman of bank, he would be comfortable with this).

Or maybe it was leaked that Jassi was secretly coming but it was leaked. So Ratcliffe decided to come too?

He won't, its only people on social media and forums like this that think it has any relevance at all if the man is there or not.
