The bad "V"
So I've done some research and apparently this Metroid Prime game originally came out in 2002, which would make it almost 21 years old. How on earth are they trying to charge £35 for this?!
Because Nintendo. So I've done some research and apparently this Metroid Prime game originally came out in 2002, which would make it almost 21 years old. How on earth are they trying to charge £35 for this?!
Same way they have done with every other remaster? It's not exactly a new tactic. See Zelda: Link's Awakening/Skyward Sword and Mario Galaxy etc.So I've done some research and apparently this Metroid Prime game originally came out in 2002, which would make it almost 21 years old. Excuse my absent-mindedness…knowing me I probably actually sat there watching the whole thingYes. They announced it in their direct about 2 weeks ago.
It isn't a general price increase, just the new Zelda... so far.Because Nintendo.
The same company who just increased the price of new games on their now 6 year old console that was already based on ancient hardware.
What the hell is thisAnd Pokémon Sleep.
I've usually been alright on planes charging through the USB in the entertainment system.do you guys have any recommendations for a power bank for the switch? I have the OG model and battery is pretty naff but I want to start taking it on plane trips with me
My copy arrived today! Can’t wait to get stuck in.The Metroid remake is sublime and is one of the best games of the generation (and in the argument for console shooters that redefined how certain elements work). The originals still hold up extremely well anyway so don't worry if you've already cleared and have the trilogy, but for those of you philistines who have missed it then definitely get it.
Play it on pointer (Wii) mode too if you can, adds some challenge if you play without lock-on.
I hate that they lock the difficulties again though. And people never seem to learn (like the Wii/VR) that modern control schemes need adjustments to the difficulty levels. My copy arrived today! Can’t wait to get stuck in.
Yep, it's not particularly difficult. Especially if you've played any kind of metroidvania and know the ropes (but it's not a requirement).Never played a Metroid game. They look good though. Is this one a good way in for a beginner?
But will the story make sense if I've not played the rest?Yep, it's not particularly difficult. Especially if you've played any kind of metroidvania and know the ropes (but it's not a requirement).
They are all pretty much independent, the overall storyline is pretty basic (you are a bounty hunter, the Metroids are dangerous space creatures that you go after, but space pirates want them as weapons) and all the games have a slight twist on that premise. But will the story make sense if I've not played the rest?
Also, I'm big fan of Hollow Knight... I assume it's like that?
Thanks for that. I'll look into it more. They are all pretty much independent, the overall storyline is pretty basic (you are a bounty hunter, the Metroids are dangerous space creatures that you go after, but space pirates want them as weapons) and all the games have a slight twist on that premise.
And yes, it's the same genre as HK (you find upgrades that allow you to backtrack and find new parts of levels) though this is more like an FPS version. But as per usual Nintendo, they do 3D versions of classic games/genres better than most, and this is no exception.
I kind of want to tell people to play with classic controls, as it was never supposed to be a full on FPS...but I think that would put people off trying to get used to the old style. I just wish with Dual Stick they toned down the health/ammo pick ups and boosted the bosses a tad.
Maybe hang onto it until the BoTW sequel comes out in a couple months. What’s a fair price for a standard switch, 128gb memory card, Pokémon scarlet, Lego Star Wars and Pokémon shining diamond? I’m looking to sell mine. Just don’t play it as much as it’s worth having and would rather reinvest that money in a new pc.
I ended up selling it for £350. I know I'm a heathen but I couldn't get into BoTW at all.Maybe hang onto it until the BoTW sequel comes out in a couple months.
BoTW is the only reason I have the switch to be honest, I couldn't get into the Mario, Splatoon or indie games that other switch users play.I ended up selling it for £350. I know I'm a heathen but I couldn't get into BoTW at all.
Fair enough but have you not played a metroidvania before because that is the essence of that type of game? Can't get into Metroid remaster at all despite liking it a lot for the first hour or so. The whole going back and forth through the same corridors is not for me at all.
Revelations 2 is poor compared to the first. On the switch, 1 is good, but on the 3DS it's such a great game with the 3D effect.Just got right back into playing on the Switch.
Brought Resident Evil revelations 2, which I have to say was pretty amazing.
Have just brought the first Resident Evil now to play through, and I think I'll get RE4 as that's half price for the next week too.
Really impressed with how much power the Switch has got for a handheld. RE: Revelations looked incredible in places.
Haven't played the first revelations, I just went with online reviews which suggested the second was the better option,Revelations 2 is poor compared to the first. On the switch, 1 is good, but on the 3DS it's such a great game with the 3D effect.
I think it's likely before the end of 2024 at the latest. Is there likely to be a Switch 2 any time soon? Thinking of upgrading to OLED but if the Switch 2 is out within the year I’ll hold off.
There will be a new console from Nintendo but whether it will follow exactly the same formula as Switch remains to be seen. It has been highly successful and it would be natural to succeed it with a console of a similar mold with superior components but it’s Nintendo, they always try something different and have in the past moved away from successful formulas in favor of innovation. Is there likely to be a Switch 2 any time soon? Further into the game you get more options to travel through each of the areas and new access points. A lot of back tracking and hidden doors which require weapon upgrades to get through but I think a lot of recent games give you too much freedom to teleport between locations so I guess this is old school in a way. Another thing is to make sure you are using the save points regularly as I’ve had to go past a few bosses again. Can't get into Metroid remaster at all despite liking it a lot for the first hour or so. The whole going back and forth through the same corridors is not for me at all.
Breath of the Wild.Someone recommend me a switch game. Thinking either Skyward Sword or Xenoblade 3, but are there any hidden gems?

I've been enjoying Dredge the last few days. The premise is fairly simple but it works quite well.Someone recommend me a switch game. Thinking either Skyward Sword or Xenoblade 3, but are there any hidden gems?
