Maybe AWB is not 100% due to the illness. The midfield is more of a concern.

How many more games until Casemiro is back?

And what's the situation with Eriksen?

I feel a bit for McT because he’s a good player, but not in a double pivot. Nearly all of our mids would be so much better in a 4-3-3, but we keep persisting with this setup across manager after manager.

Whoever plays at the base of midfield would be wishing they were somewhere else on the pitch.

McTom, Sabitzer, Fred would all want to be further forward and Lindelof would be crapping himself and wanting to be back on the bench or a CB spot.

But we ALL know this, so there is no need for hysteria if Brentford have some success in the middle tonight.

    Until after the Everton game.

Eriksen has been back in training for quite some time now. I wonder how far his progress is, but he should play at some time this month.

I thought McTominay looked well off the pace on Sunday, didn’t have a good game at all. Sancho was needs to step up big time, fingers crossed he has a big influence because he really needs it.

Do you ever post anything remotely positive? Feck sake.
We could win 3-0 and he would moan about something.

Thing is, the general theme around here is negativity. The match day thread is best avoided whilst the game is on.

Some odd choices there, Fred and AWB should be starting this.
Not odd imo. We lack height and tbh Fred is not much better than McT tbf. We also play at home where we'd need to attack. Dalot is simply better offensively.

Spot on. Couldn’t have put it better.

I just don’t know why every manager both plays this formation and continues to back De Gea.

As much as it's annoying me that certain players are starting it makes sense in terms of balance.

No Case or WW means we need players with aerial ability/height, hence why McT & Dalot start, not happy with either choice but we've such limited options with Brentford favouring set pieces and AWB isn't the greatest in the air.

Sancho over Martial makes sense due to the later having limited game time, sharpness and fitness, I expect this to be the first change if it isn't working.

Why not at least try Fred next to Sabitzer. Mctomminay has been atrocious whenever he's played for us. Unless it's against Leeds.
I think ETH had seen enough of Fred as no 6. Fred was truly shit and one of the reason we got thrashed by Brenton away earlier in the season. Already seen that Fred and Sabitzer don't work together either.

McTominay is garbage but he's at least the best defensive body as no 6 among these option. Even against Newcastle, McTominay playing in double pivot in the second half was best fighter. Sabitzer, Bruno for all their effort just were simply outfought.

McTominay happened to be tactical better away to Brenton earlier in the season when he's subbed on despite still comically bad technical wise.

Who do you want Ten Hag to play? Butland?

If we start going down the ‘manager is shit’ route then I don’t know what to say. The general theme here is the Glazers. Until they go, we buckle up and get through it.

And De Gea has saved our asses this season over and over again. We’d have less points with Butland etc starting.

The squad isn’t good enough. 4th is about par for us, if anything, Ten Hag is ahead of schedule.

But this place thrives on negativity so carry on I guess…

Genuinely worried. There’s such a feeling if frailty in the team again.

    I think I agree actually.

I don’t rate Dalot defensively and we need to keep it tight today.

I might be okay with Fred as one of two no8s (almost in the no10 position, in his mosquito role). Would have to sacrifice a forward, probably Antony, and play Bruno at RW. That’s worked okay before with Antony coming on later.

The squad isn't there yet but if we are fair, it's definitely been stretched this season. Our best 11 certain is capable enough but when you lose 2 of the main cogs for 1/4 of the season then it's always going to be tough.

Fully expecting a Caf meltdown after the match saying how we struggled to hold the ball up with Rashford down the middle and we needed Wout today.

Thanks. That explains it. I know people have their preference in the AWB or Dalot debate but neither are really elite players by any stretch and it's probably not a pivotal part of where the match will be decided tonight.

By the end of tonights match, Weghorst will go from Weghorst to prime van Nistelrooy, without even stepping foot on the pitch.
