This is simple, if Robertson doesn’t grab the ref then there is no reaction. It is natural to react if someone suddenly grabs you without warning. Hardly flattened him did it. As someone else has already stated I would not be complaining if a Utd player were to be banned for the same offence. Just blatant stupidity. Players need to be ready to accept punishment for manhandling officials. Doesn’t happen in rugby.

He’s going to be called big baby by his opponents in every game for the rest of his career isn’t he?

If so, thank you Keano. You made the world a better place.

Fecking hell, people overreacting on this.

He’s walking past him and its a slight shrug to make him go away that would never actually hurt any normal adult. Calling it an elbow is wildly exaggerated as he’s walking in the opposite direction at the same time, and he barely hits him.
This type of stuff Robertson does in every other game but with actual malintend without defending himself.

At some point as a ref you must be fed up with players like Robertson in your face all the time. Even after a game is over too. But you can go the PC way and look at it under a microscope.

“big baby” was spot on from Keane.
This, football has become so soft these days from both the players and a majority of the fans, media and pundits, I don't know how this current generation could watch an old 90's, 80's etc.. football match without calling the police and reporting a historical crime has gone unpunished.

Similar to Bruno’s ‘push’ on the ref. Both nothing incidents. Only Liverpool fans losing their shit with both.

Thatcher was not sent off by referee Dermot Gallagher but given just a yellow card.

Sit the linesman in the naughty corner for a few games then let him resume his career.

Robinson was grabbing the assistant Ref first, he just shrugged his shoulder to him. Robinson is a prick, but the ass Ref will be in deep shit for this, not a chance is is running the line again this season.

Come on, he did more than just shrug his shoulder.

It was a (fully justified) "get the feck away from me" swing of the arm.

This is what happens when the linesman got away with grabbing Bruno. If the linesman in that match had been given a 10 game ban, then the linesman yesterday wouldn’t have dropped the people’s elbow on Robertson. Ban Bruno!

All refs and officials need to go on strike. It's unacceptable that he has been suspended until further notice.

The fact that Robertson made a big deal about this shows what kind of character he is. It's like the equivalent of an entitled douche getting the waiter sacked cause they split their drink when serving them.

Not that it will bother him in the slightest. He's just a massive rat cnut.

Robertson comes right up, starts screaming at him, starts leaning into him. He walks and pushes his arm out to brush him off. Yet the victim complex comes out in full force.

Reminds me of a game I played once where some dickhead was badgering the referee all game, f'ing and blinding at every decision. Eventually the ref had enough, booked him and told him to stfu. Straight away the player started on at the ref, that he wasn't allowed to swear at the players, that he was going to report him. No idea why the ref didn't just send him off.

Robertson should be banned too until the outcome of the full investigation.

The Liverpool media darlings on talkSPORT this morning’s only rhetoric was about how reckless the linesman was & actually analysing his elbow technique used. Dreadful journalism to not mention the disgusting Robertson’s never ending whinging, approaching the official from behind close enough to touch his arm whilst berating him with foul abuse no doubt. Robertson should be as much to blame as the official if they’re going to punish the linesman.

With the standard of refereeing this season we'd probably get better officiated matches if they all go on strike and the players just call their own fouls

I’m not really seeing what the rest of you are

I think the official should be in some serious shit for it, I don’t see that Robertson did a lot wrong. Did he put his hands on the official? Maybe, it would go some way to explain the reaction. But it isn’t clear from the footage I’ve seen.

I don't think it was that bad. It was not unprovoked, I think Robertson either grabbed him or was making an indication that he was about to, hard to tell. God knows what he was saying to the guy as well, players seem to have no respect for officials.

I think a one or two game ban is sufficient. Ultimately you have to be a little more professional with your reactions as an authority figure. It doesn't really set the right tone when refs are reacting over the top. Hard to say to players they need to calm down if refs are not in control of themselves.
