Wasn't he the player where we used the ridiculous excuse of not being able to handle 2 agents so we didn't bother? Or am I thinking of someone else here?
Yes we couldn’t work out who had the legal right to represent him and after shenanigans in recent years we walked away instead

When you get 5, check Ugarte out on YouTube. He’s an absolute Rottweiler of a DM/CM, aggressive without the ball, calm with it, high energy and can pick a pass. Similar qualities to Caicedo but probably £30m cheaper.

I really like Caicedo and will be gutted to see him at another PL club, but if that £30m could go towards a new ball playing keeper like Costa then I’d lean slightly towards Ugarte (or Lavia for that matter).
Not quite the profile we need to play with Casemiro. Need the passer, controller. Would still be great if we could get him but doubt we have the money for 2 CMs.

Do United have an in-house counsel or do they source legal out? This sounds a bit amateurish. I mean Brighton managed to do it. I realise they had a similar issue in the past but solved that too so...

Brighton managed it because they had contact with a rep there previously. It was easier for them. United has their fingers burned before with dodgy representation so I get the reluctance at the time. Now we’ve built up a better structure I don’t think we will make that mistake again

This. I think the structure behind the scenes at Manchester United is finally improving. The next step is development pathways for these talented young players so they can develop and become world class for you.

Gotta hope so. No point crying over spilt milk at this point. Onwards and upwards

I would love him here but just can’t see how we could afford it given our other weaknesses. We need to spread funds about a bit. I’d rather go for Lavia and have a chunk of change for another signing.
Damn shame though, he’s great.
Yeah IF that was the only hole in the first XI then go all in,however we still have others so may need to look at cheaper option

Maybe you need to explain the complexities behind that deal again and how previous experience of signing a player with similar ownership gave a massive advantage

 What the hell!? Don’t Madrid have like an absolutely loaded midfield? Funny chap.
He isn't going to replace Tchouameni and/or Camavinga, so him publically saying that is weird. They absolutely do not need him. He should've said it about United instead

They were probably still having nightmares about the obi mikel situation, and decided to steer clear of another similar issue. These type of talented kids should be 10 a penny to pick up, but we have not been great about bringing them through to the first team. I think that is partly because of the manager merry-go-round, and with a more stable structure, hopefully a talented teenager won't be concerned about the path to the first team.

What can I say? The young lad has grown on me! I suspected he was just having a great first season and was just a tackling machine but how he has adapted to De Zerbi's tactics and way of playing seamlessly has been nothing short of amazing. I think he'll be a great midfielder for whoever signs him for many years ahead.

He's grown on you so much in the grand total of 3 games he's played since you called him overrated where Brighton's results have been a draw, a loss & a win, and in that win he made a 25 minute cameo off the bench. Sensational stuff.

In fairness he hasn’t changed anything. He has been this good since his debut and ever since.

Think you need to look up the definition of 'upset'. I highlighted the humorous nature of you doing a full 180 in your opinion on a player within weeks. That's nothing if not amusing.

Maybe not changed, but his game sense and intelligence has improved a lot. He makes himself available for passes more now as well, which I think comes more naturally with experience (unless you're McTominay).

I still don't think he offers enough with ball carrying and progressive passing but his physicality and tenacity combined with his intelligence makes him perfect fit for PL.

He still makes some odd decisions with his passing. Last one I can think of was against us where he just passed the ball to one of our players 5 yards from him when he was in Brighton's penalty box, so I think if he can improve his passing and carrying, he'll be world class.

Didn't you already point this out in another thread where you found it amusing? Are you going to quote me on that for the third time if I post that he's excellent again?

Classic caf, changing their mind with more evidence available and thought. We should all laugh at him.
I just thought it was funny that the mind changed in two weeks from overrated and questioning what makes him special to perfect for PL and looking forward to ten years with him in the team.

The first quote wasn't even the full quote of what I said. He intentionally removed the rest of it to make it look worse, and he got the responses he wanted :)

Fair enough for admitting you hadn’t watched him a lot. Doesn’t happen enough on this forum.

Just all having a laugh. We all love a reactionary comment on here.

Nope. I previously quoted you on this thread a few weeks ago when you called him overrated, as a few days prior to that, you commented in the Casemiro thread saying we should be looking to replace him with Caicedo. The fact that you've done another u-turn makes it all the more amusing. I look forward to seeing you call him overrated again in a couple of weeks time :D

Fair enough. Although I asked maybe we should look to replace Casemiro with him.
And when you quoted me earlier today, you just conveniently left out the part where I said "Sorry if it sounds clueless, but I genuinely haven't seen him a lot" so maybe you'd assume I wouldn't know too much about him, but after thorough YouTube research and reading the experts of Caf's analysis of him, I'm all aboard!

I hope you have other things to look forward to in life more than that, but I'll see what I can do tonight ;)

We need this lad badly, been absolutely immense everytime he's played us.

Need him either at United or shipped off to Spain somewhere because I never want to face him again
