Jesus fecking Christ, the state of some people in this thread is embarrassing.

Before this match these same feckers were predicting that we'd get completely twatted by Brighton are now saying that the fact we narrowly lost (to a goal which happened because the ref bought an Encisco dive) is some unforeseeable calamity. Do me a favour.

A point at best. WH have relegation fears and it's a home game.
We need to dominate the ball and produce a proper performance, this is now a must win game for us and no Fred anywhere near the squad.

You what? If games in hand don’t matter how are we going to get any points at all?
I just mean if we keep showing the same faults in our away games then the games we have over them won’t really mean anything cause we’ll drop points and let them back in.

Can’t keep refusing to play football for periods of the game and expect to win.

This team, even with any summer additions, has no chance in the CL anyway. But we need it for new signings more than anything else

Yep exactly what it be been saying, you have to wonder how they function in the real world on a day to day basis. The usual lot are in here now doom mongering. We'll win our home games and we'll be fine.
I'm not even convinced we'll lose our away games.

Say what you will about them dominating the second half, we just lost extremely narrowly to a goal that came about from a dodgy free kick and apparently a dodgy corner. And that was by far our toughest remaining fixture.

We’re going to choke it aren’t we? Liverpool will end up on 71 points with a much better goal difference so we need 9 points to get top four. :nervous:

Fecking hell - you lot

Liverpool scraped by a Fulham side who are on their holidays with a dubious penalty.

There's a few twists and turns left yet but we'll stumble over the finish line for the Top 4 Cup, don't worry.

I do wonder whether it is healthy for some people to watch football. Teams lose, win or draw; it is part of the game.

Such over the top reactions. Brighton have very tough games to come. Liverpool will drop points in the coming weeks.

9 points out of 15 remaining needed now. Ugh.

Liverpool should be 1 point behind come Sunday if/when they beat Brentford.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
I still think we're going to make 4th, but we need to turn our awful goal scoring form around asap. Unfortunately, like a lot of us have said, the team really is running on fumes by now and has looked tired for at least 2 months now. It's a tragedy that despite all the investment we are still so dependent on a handful of players playing good every game, or we are fecked.

Yep true. But all we need is to win our home games and we'll be fine. Definitely need to sort out away from next season though, simply not good enough.

I also don’t understand what they get from it? Reassurance that other people are also just as miserable & panic stricken? A weird psychological attempt to jinx it by saying it out loud? A comfort insurance on being able to say I told you so if the worst (and still quite unlikely) thing happens?

I mean, I don’t think it’s going to be easy, there’ll be some jitters, but we’re in an amazing position & this was the game we were almost most likely to lose. I just don’t understand what they get from it? It seems fecking exhausting

It will be a kick in the nuts if we miss out on top 4 now. We better turn up Sunday and get a win. Anything else and we could really look shaky going forward.

Weghourst has to be the worst piece of business we have ever done. What a pointless player. Might as well stick on an academy player, surely he cannot be worse than him.

I understand we are missing some key players but we should still have enough in the tank to see this through. Anything less than top 4 and serious questions need to be asked of ETH. No one should be untouchable unless you prove yourself to be.

Liverpool will go one point behind us on Saturday

Then United have West Ham away, who need points

I think United will blow it

Chelsea despite how shit they are will relish the opportunity to ruin our top 4 hopes so let's hope we don't go into that game needing a win. We need to beat West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth.

Yeah we'll still make it. Those giving it out pre Spurs game that it couldn't possibly get nervy probably feel a bit silly now.

We're another bad result away from it getting very bloody needy indeed.

Yep, agreed but the arrogant ones are far worse. As if you have the gall to question the mentality midgets that are Manchester United who have time and time again let us down.
We're lucky Liverpool were so outrageously pony for vast swathes of the season.

But it shows again how many points you can drop for a mere top 4 battle.

Wolves and Fulham Homes are ideal fixtures.

Then we just need a single win from home v Chelsea, and aways v Wham and Bournemouth. Or just draw all 3!

The arrogance that we’ll do it is worse than the panic that we won’t in my opinion. No one knows how the games will play out yet.

What does anyone get from posting their thoughts on a forum? What do you get out of marvelling at the pessimism of some of us?

For all the positives of this season, it's so clear there's huge work still needed.
You could point out the centre back combo missing, but the attack didn't produce.

The away record v anyone even half decent is pretty worrying too. No win v Chelsea, Arsenal, Pool, City, Brentford, Brighton, Tottenham, Newcastle or Villa!

People get so butt hurt if you even dare to say this team, the majority who were the season ending bottle jobs from last year cannot do it once again. Our points tally over the last 9 league games since Cup win is woeful. 14 from 27 points. We will probably just scrape it but to say it’s not at all likely is naive especially when Liverpool are so jammy week in week out.

If we lose it, it will be on GD. Which will suck balls big time.

2 wins and 3 draws are good too. Although we should go all in for the win vs WH. Win there would be huge morale boost and give us a breathing space.

Indeed if you don't score enough and have mentality issues then yeah anything can happen within a small set of games. Seen it today with a handball, these things happen.

I for one find the incessant doomsaying infinitely more insufferable than a bit of overconfidence.

There's still a lot wrong with this side, don't get me wrong, but overall I've enjoyed this season far more than I've enjoyed most others post-Ferguson. Our remaining fixtures are West Ham away, Wolves at home, Bournemouth way, Chelsea at home and Fulham at home. We need nine points from that.

It might not be entirely plain sailing, but seeing people so certain that we're going to blow it is, in my mind, frankly a bit pathetic.

They have been very lucky. You can also be in the form of your life there’s no guarantee you will win every game. I don’t see how them winning their remaining fixtures is a certainty.

Meanwhile we need to fail to win 3 out of 5 games, while Liverpool win all remaining fixtures.

Also, on a positive note if Newcastle lose against title chasing Arsenal and we beat West Ham then we are back up to 3rd this weekend ffs.

A win against West ham and tensions will be eased.
Hopefully Moyes has one eye on the conference semi final.

We tend to struggle vs Wolves; as poor as Chelsea have been this season you can't count it as certain 3 points and Fulham will have few key players back and will want some kind of revenge after that Fa Cup loss. So can't rely just on home games, away to West Ham and Bournemouth are huge ones as well.

We can’t score for shit though unfortunately. I think West Ham will win because of this fact and the fact they treat playing us as their must win game of the season.

We 100% need 7 points v Wolves, Fulham and Bournemouth (a). Chelsea wouldn’t surprise me if they took a point off us at OT. Another team that raise it against us.

8 points should be enough, but won’t be if Liverpool win all 4 as their GD is miles better than ours.

West Ham game is the most important one. After that our schedule becomes 1 game a week bar the chelsea game. It's in our own hands and I can see us getting over the line (just).

Fully expect us to fail to beat West Ham - probably a draw. I can see Liverpool winning all of their remaining games. People will lose their minds.

I think it's the last line of your first paragraph there, which is such weird behaviour considering they're supposedly United fans.

But anyway, as you said it's not going to be easy but we'll do it. Alot of improvement needed next season though, no doubt about that.

It’s actually scary that Liverpool could catch us after being so far behind and in there worse season! I think we’ll be fine just but It will be unforgivable if we do not make top 4

I think Brentford will give Liverpool a good fight and hopefully Leicester as one is still trying to make Europe and the other fighting to stay up.

One more tricky fixture against West Ham. If we could win there, then the coast is clear.

The team need to push a bit more to the finish line. The scheduling has been grueling this season. It feels like our opponents always have extra days rest.

This team has scored 49 goals all season but apparently they will comfortably win their next few games.
