Other teams will be interested in him - therefore no chance we sign him, but we definitely should.

Fair enough. Although I asked maybe we should look to replace Casemiro with him.
And when you quoted me earlier today, you just conveniently left out the part where I said "Sorry if it sounds clueless, but I genuinely haven't seen him a lot" so maybe you'd assume I wouldn't know too much about him, but after thorough YouTube research and reading the experts of Caf's analysis of him, I'm all aboard!

I hope you have other things to look forward to in life more than that, but I'll see what I can do tonight ;)
Personally I wouldn't stick my neck out after watching Youtube highlights and reading other people's opinions on a player, as I tend to wait to formulate an opinion on a player after watching them play 90 minutes in several games, but if that's all that it takes for you to be convinced then fair enough.

I think you’ve got a great chance if the takeover happens. The fee is the issue. It would be a huge shift in policy to pay £90m+ for a defensive midfielder.

He's a good player, a very good player who's only 21 or 22 years of age with plenty of room to improve further. Technical, mobile and physical. Would take him in a heartbeat. Can Antonio Valencia get in his ear please?

When he dispossessed Fred near the corner flag in the 2nd half Fred just stays on the ground looking around as if he had no right to take the ball off him.

FFS Utd wake up and realise you need cover for DM AND progressive playmaker CM. This guy could definitely provide a solution to the first massive issue.

Caicedo but the brakes on Rashford w/o outstanding success in an even game for 98 minutes, then 1-0 to Brighton.
I don't think he did to be honest, rashford was just wasteful and his first touch let him down more often than not. When they moved him back into midfield they absolutely tore us to shreds.

Thought he was pretty poor at RB personally, hence the reason they moved him to his natural position earlier than they would have liked.

They started to dominate proceedings once they brought March on as they had more attacking threat and more solidity in the middle with him in his natural position.

Exactly, with him in midfield they were able to keep the ball far higher and March pretty had license to stay forward, as we couldn't play through their press - which I actually think we did pretty well in the first half.

Quality tonight and in a unfamiliar role.
Not all that unfamiliar, he was tasked as a spoiler whenever we break down the left, but in possession he moved into midfield with the right CB spreading out to make a 3-4-3, sort of like a reverse Zinchenko. Fullback occupying a DM position or vice versa is a normal tactic now in football, not the novelty it once was when Pep did it with Lahm.

I thought he was fine but against a difficult opponent in Rashford and we had some success in the duel, a bit like with AWB and Mitoma where both came out on top at different times.

He certainly didnt completely cancel him out or anything like that. Rashford had 5 successful dribbles and 5 shots - of course not all of these were directly going against Caicedo but do show that he had a bunch of chances to make something happen and he was starting from directly against Caicedo.

Obviously its impossible to know if someone other than Caicedo was playing there, maybe Rashford gets on the scoresheet or on the other hand maybe he doesnt have as many dribbles and shots.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I said at the time that I'd have signed him over Casemiro because of the age and clear upside of Caicedo. I think teams will be absolutely going all in for this guy as soon as they can. I imagine Liverpool and other clubs will recognise that he can single handedly make a huge improvement to their midfield. It's quiet at the moment but I can sense that teams will be desperate for him.

Wasn’t sure that his profile is what we needed but I don’t think we can miss out on him he’s that good.

Yep he's excellent. My only concern is that his skillset is more suited to deeper positions. We wouldn't buy him as backup to Case so that means we would be spending not far off £100m on a 6 to play as an 8 for most of the time. That said, he's good enough to do really well there, and he's Case's successor all sorted. Do it.

Quality player in midfield, but was rinsed a few times at RB, dunno what game you guys watched.
This is the difference when players join us, he would be criticised for those moments, but those moments get overlooked and they get praised at smaller clubs.

The issue is though he played out of position. If we compare him to say putting Fred or McT at RB and I think we’d all have heart attacks.

Get him in, next to Cas, and move Eriksen to a 10 and compete with Bruno.

That’s exactly what we should do, we actually need to make 4 key signings this summer to be a really good consistent squad in this order not the garbage that people spurt needing 6 or 7 players and a new G

New Centre Forward - R Hojlund , G Ramos or L Martinez any one of the three will do we will only have £60-70m get it done early and make everyone know this is our number 1 priority

New Centre Midfield - Caciedo just offer them £80m and K Mainoo and A Martial on loan, he’ll probably love it there and score 25 PL goals this guy we make number 2 priority, he improved the squad midfield over 100% and as he showed yesterday he can play as a marauding right back if you need him too as well but as soon as we get the CF done we move heaven and earth to get this one done, I’ll take D Rice if we can’t get this one done but Caciedo is the real deal and if we have the funds spend £100m on him, he’s just a player that would die for the shirt plus he’s a united fan.

Centre Back - This is our third and obvious priority, Maguire needs to be sold with E Bailey hopefully for £35M together and we go buy Kim Min Jae or A Desai and tell Varane and Martinez that three of you competing for Starting 2 places. We need L Shaw at left back, with no offence from right back putting Mallicia or Dalot on the left makes us weaker. Im hoping Dalot rediscovers his pre World Cup form.

Attacking Midfield - United don’t score enough goals from midfield, Bruno is playing deeper or on the right as Antony has stunk the place out so we desperately need a versatile number ten or box to box Eight and can even play as Right winger so Either J Maddison or M Kudas both available for £45/50m. Probably can’t afford this but this is a higher priority than spending £50m on a new GK who can wait for one more season.

We could get smart here and maybe offer Brighton a few players on loan and we pay their wages but we need to move on Caciedo as soon as the season finishes.

There is no way on half Brighton would hold out for £140m there must be a release clause in his new contract of probably £85m he’s a DM a very, very good one but not £140m, no one’s paying that ever?

There is no release clause in the contract, no Brighton players have one and BHAFC have never put a figure on how much he would cost. I think this has come from an Andy Naylor article in the Athletic where he said the club would expect a minimum of 140M for Caicedo and Mac Allister if both were to leave in the summer.

I have a feeling that Mac Allister will go, but Caicedo will stay.

That’s a combined figure for both then which is more plausible

What a player. Imagine we signed all the players we were supposedly close to a few years ago. Ole had the scouting part right.

We should make it look like we really want to sign this guy, then wait to see who Brighton are looking at to replace him. Hijack that deal instead.

If we were a big club we would get him and Bellingham. That would sort our midfield once and for all.

Only really started watching him since the hype has grown.
Not just the decisions he makes, but the speed at which he processes information and executes, tidily with little to no fuss. Looks like a star in the making, especially so when you consider his room for growth and improvement.
