Martial would be my main one. Any incomings or outgoings should wait until he's gone. It should be the #1 player-related priority of the club.
Oh my god talk about slow safety and seriously underwhelming to say the least. That is just the kind of summer our leeches are dreaming about having which makes me sickThere are many players I'd love to see gone. However Rome is not built in one day and considering FFP, the club ownership change etc, we need to be less ambitious in terms of changes
GK: DDG, Henderson, Heaton - I'd say keep them all. Henderson has been injured for most of the season so we won't fetch any real money of him. DDG will probably stay even with a pay cut and Heaton provides an experienced no 3
RB: AWB and Dalot. Neither player is world class but both had improved this year. We can live another season with them around
CB: Varane, Martinez, Lindelof and Ndicka. I think selling Maguire is a must. He's on silly salary, he's become a meme and he's got that one big mistake per game in him
LB: Shaw, Malacia, Alvaro Fernandez.
DM: Casemiro, Rice. Casemiro is, alongside Rashy, the corner stone of this season campaign success. Yet he's 31, he likes his yellow cards and legs are the first to go. Rice has just 1 year left in his contract. He tops the EPL in terms of distance covered and interceptions + he is a natural leader. I think that we should get the man
MC: Tielemans, McT - Tielemans on a free is a no brainer. He's 25, he's a technical deep lying play maker and I can see him pair magnificently with Casemiro or Rice in midfield. I'd keep McT as he's homegrown, he doesn't mind the bench too much and I think he'll do better further up the pitch.
AMC: Bruno, Eriksen
AMR: Antony, Sancho, Pellistri - At that salary I doubt anyone would want to buy Sancho this season and quite frankly we've got bigger problems to settle then that of finding a new club for him. I think this will be the make or break year for Sancho. If he fails then he'll have no excuses
AML: Rashford, Garnacho
STK: Muani, David - some might think that adding two strikers is overkill but its not the case
a- I am uncomfortable with spending some 100m on 1 striker. There aren't any safe bets out there that guarantee goals (ex RVN, Shearer, Batistuta type). The closest there is to that is Kane and spending 100m on a player of his age is crazy. Thus we'll better off distributing the stakes on two players. It's safer and puts less pressure on the players that way
b- I still believe that Greenwood can return and do well. Thus a year on loan, possibly at a friendly club (Ruud's PSV)? would contribute in removing the rust and score those 20-30 goals he need to get the fans warming up to his return.
Let go/Sell: Jones, Maguire, Telles, Fred, Elanga, VDB, Bailly
Mostly down to the fact no one else wants them. Or unless we accept really low fees for them just to clear them out of the club, even then their wage demand will be too much for other clubs. Maguire has so much self belief he won’t accept less and will think a transfer means an increase in wages.I wouldn't be surprised if we have Maguire and Martial in our squad next season. That's how painfully inept we are in clearing deadwood on high wages. Ronaldo was the exception
Maguire’s deluded self-confidence is a complete joke.Mostly down to the fact no one else wants them. Or unless we accept really low fees for them just to clear them out of the club, even then their wage demand will be too much for other clubs. Maguire has so much self belief he won’t accept less and will think a transfer means an increase in wages.
All mentally undervalued, apart from Telles who i would give away.Realistic list:
Maguire - 10 million
McTominay - 15 million
Martial - 10 million
Sancho - loan back to BVB
Weghorst - don't renew the loan
Sabitzer - see above
Fred - 10 million
Jones - release
Williams - 2 million
Bailly - 3 million
Henderson - 10 million
DDG - 5 million
Telles - 2 million
Elanga - 4 million
That's a cull.
Do half of that and it's a start.
We can talk about players and managers until the cows come home but winning and losing mentality comes from the top.Joel Glazer,
Avram Glazer
Richard Arn.....oh sorry you meant players.
I agree at Tuenzebe to the listOther than de Gea no arguments there.
Look mate its so easy to come up with a list of 8 players out and 7 players in. However that rarely happens, we lack the people capable to handle such high turnover and quite frankly such strategy rarely really worked. Not to forget that we've got FFP issues + new owners are coming in, possibly in the middle of a summer transfer window.Oh my god talk about slow safety and seriously underwhelming to say the least. That is just the kind of summer our leeches are dreaming about having which makes me sick
I would say the Maguire, McTominay and Martial prices are off the mark. De Gea will be out of contract, I think?Realistic list:
Maguire - 10 million
McTominay - 15 million
Martial - 10 million
Sancho - loan back to BVB
Weghorst - don't renew the loan
Sabitzer - see above
Fred - 10 million
Jones - release
Williams - 2 million
Bailly - 3 million
Henderson - 10 million
DDG - 5 million
Telles - 2 million
Elanga - 4 million
That's a cull.
Do half of that and it's a start.
Without getting a replacement i would keep McT or VdB just for some depth. I give Sancho another season too. Otherwise i like the list.Talking about a 100% meaning it doesn't matter if we don't get a replacement:
Maguire
McTominay
Jones
Tuanzebe
VdB
Elanga
Telles
Williams
Weghorst
Players that wouldn't mind letting do if we get a replacement:
De Gea
Fred
Martial
Sancho
agree with the revised numbers for sure. Not sure id really let sancho go unless someone comes in with a pretty big offer. Just gotta hope he sorts his stuff out with an offseason under EtH. Having Rashford and antony starting wingers, then prob rotating garnacho/sancho/amad as the 3 wing options would be my thoughts. There are going to be a lot of games again next season. Good chance rashford could be our backup CF as well, so having that extra option wide would be good. Yeah sancho has been disappointing but there have been times he hasnt looked horrendous.I would say the Maguire, McTominay and Martial prices are off the mark. De Gea will be out of contract, I think?
Maguire - £25m-£30m (Will be good for lower clubs; I think they will stump up more than £10m). Perhaps could push a bit more than that even.
McTominay - £25m (Same as above)
Martial - free (I can't see anyone buying him with his injury issues; doubt he will leave at all, to be honest)
Sancho - loan back to BVB (I think there would be teams willing to take a risk; depending on whether he is willing to leave, I could see about £40m) - If Antony Gordon can go for £40m, surely Sancho could go for something around that
Weghorst - don't renew the loan
Sabitzer - see above
Fred - 10 million
Jones - release
Williams - 2 million
Bailly - 3 million
Henderson - 10 million (Possibly a bit more, but he hasn't been playing much recently so that will dent his value)
DDG - free
Telles - 2 million
Elanga - 4 million
I think we could get a good £100m or so out of that, without pricing the players out of the market.
I think thats pretty much unanimous.Without getting a replacement i would keep McT or VdB just for some depth. I give Sancho another season too. Otherwise i like the list.
Maguire is the player i want gone the most.
How much would we get for that guy we don't talk about? You know, 'Stoneworker Verdantforest'
From a playing point of view, I would much rather have Greenwood than Martial. I am sick of watching him and his softness and lack of timing with his receiving, turning and passing of the ball. I think that has deteriorated over the past 18 months with Martial. There is a reason he impresses during pre season and that is because the pace is slower.Phil Jones
Harry Maguire
Eric Bailly
Jadon Sancho
Alex Telles
Donny van de Beek
Brandon Williams
Fred
Anthony Elanga
Dean Henderson
Scott McTominay
Mason Greenwood
Wout (don't sign him)
Sabitzer (don't sign him unless it's backup on top of 1/2 other midfield signings)
Anthony Martial - Would add to the list but feel like he's going to be forced to be a backup to a striker we sign because we won't be able to offload him.
I'm not going to get too much into it because I still don't know what the forums policy is on that situation. From a purely playing perspective yes, instead of Martial. However this isn't simply 'cancel culture.' If you listened to that audio and you think it's worth the unmitigated damage this club will suffer reputation wise just to have someone score a few goals then I don't know what to say, United as a club will live on when and if that player departs. I also don't believe the club is at fault, or Ole etc, after all, no one else in the squad has done it have they? So why does the club have to accept any responsibility or fault. From a playing point of view, I would much rather have Greenwood than Martial. I am sick of watching him and his softness and lack of timing with his receiving, turning and passing of the ball. I think that has deteriorated over the past 18 months with Martial. There is a reason he impresses during pre season and that is because the pace is slower.
From Greenwood's perspective it depends if the club want to take the "easy route" of cancel culture or take the time out to question why a player they had developed since the age of 6 had gone off the rails in his private life. Was their responsibility of the club to keep an eye on their young players. Is it a reflection on how bad our administration under Woodward has been and since Ferguson left? Was Ole too soft?
Will the club try go the hard route and actually try to rehabilitate a young man with anger issues! I have not commented on this issue till now.
One thing is for sure, I am not certain that I Trust Arnold to deal with the issue. I had hopes that he would he would be better than Woodward, but the De Jong saga (being pictured with Barcelona officials), the fact he seems slow and laborious in his dealings with the club. Why take so long with the Greenwood issue? If you do not have intentions of retaining him, release so he find another club and try rebuild his life?
I may get pelters from other posters and people on this, but I feel strongly about why this club, under this ownership and this administration is so cumbersome with everything and every decision it makes and every practice it does.
In my own personal life, I hate indecision. You do not see Guardiola and Man City taking an age to make a choice and this culture within our club has to be eradicated. You can start to see the frustration in Ten Hag as he is trying to prepare for next season but he does not know which player to approach or not. Very poor from this club and it should not be accepted!
