Maguire, Telles, Bially, Tuenzabe, Henderson, Williams, Sancho, Martial, Fred, DDG .

Out of those can go, and if new owners come in it's realistic they will go, Sancho is the only one that we could struggle to ship out because of wages. .

At this stage, I don't think I would be too upset at us getting any of the current squad out if the price is right. Apart from Martinez.

The must leave list for me includes - De Gea, Wan Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Fred, Martial, Bailly, Telles, Van De Beek, Sancho, Elanga, Williams.

I have no faith that we have the ability behind the scenes to undertake any sort of clear out though.

Must leave

Maguire
Phil Jones
Telles
Bailly
Weghourst
Williams
Henderson
Tuanzebe

Can leave and wouldn't be worried
Martial
De Gea
McTominay
Fred
Sabitzer
Sancho
Dalot
Elanga
DVB

Realistically I can't see us getting rid of 10 players. Tuanzebe, Williams and Jones are out of contract and will be let go. Maguire needs to leave for everyones sake including his. Not sure anyone will want Telles or Bailly so probably another loan to run down contracts.
Of the second lot sell Dalot, mctominay and one other if we are lucky. probably not. So overall three transfers for 70-100 m if we are lucky?

I feel for ETH.

I just do not believe the club can be ruthless enough as we need to be. We have so many players on the books that should have left YEARS ago.

He's had a great season considering the squad and back up options but we again, same as last year need a major overhaul.

Fringe Players/Loan players with no involvement in the squad
Jones
Williams
Bailly
Telles
Tuanzebe

Squad Players
Elanga
Maguire

Current Starters
DDG
Martial

I'd class these 9 as must leave. We could ship 7 of these and you wouldn't even know.

Given Weghorst and Sabitzer are also unlikely to stay, that's 11 departures and you could even add a few more names into the mix that aren't valuable to us long term, Van De Beek, McTominey, Fred, Either one of Dalot/AWB. Pellistri doesn't feature much despite Anthony and Sancho being abysmal.

The squad needs transforming. I hope we go bold.

Eriksen and Casemiro will not last many years so now is the time to plan to integrate rather than acting last minute or waiting till Casemiro is 35 then berating him for poor performances.

Massive summer needed.

DDG and Martial have to go. They make our x11 weaker

I'm very sure about Sancho and Martial. They need to be two of the first to be shown the door. Either loan them out, give them away for free, whatever it takes to get them away from the club.

The two of them are a symbol of what's plagued this club since Fergie retired. "Talented" expensive flops who don't have, and will never have, the heart or balls to play for this club.
The reason I'm not sure is because it's a question if we'll sign 2 strikers this summer. Sancho has had 2 season to prove himself so agree decision on him should be made already but we'll see.

what is crazy is with how bloated our squad is you could easily cut out double digit players and prob barely feel it.

It's really the players on the bubble, like Sancho and Martial, who we could get a decent fee from selling. The players that everyone seems to agree are simply not good enough, those players should already be gone and for any amount offered. It's the Sancho, Martial, Maguire, Fred, DeGea types who have some utility but are not at the required level, we should sell them and use the pennies for the rebuild. Does anybody think we should hold off on shipping out Telles and Elanga, or Williams and Bailly? We just need to make it happen.

Edit: I added DeGea to the list. Much as I've been amazed at his insane reflexes over the years, it looks like he's entering another slump period. The last time, Henderson was able to challenge him and he got back to his best. At some point, maybe having a keeper on 375k / week who makes silly schoolboy errors and can't play out from the back, maybe that would seem like a situation to change.

If Maguire can live with being a back-up, then fine. Otherwise he has to go too.
Would like Greenwood back (not going to discuss his case or situation here).

[reading some of the names people mentioned... feck me, how many players do we need to offload?? mental. I forgot most of them exist]

Martial
Maguire
Henderson
Bailly
Van de Beek
Sabitzer
Weghorst
Telles
Hannibal
Elanga
Tuanzebe
Shortire
Chong
Jones
Sancho
DDG (probably won't be staying as backup, which he has to be reduced to)

____________________________________________________________________

players like Fred, Lindeloef, and Malacia are fine as squad players.
Man City created a situation where having guys like Mahrez, Foden, Gundogan (sometimes), and Laporte on the bench seems normal.
it's not. it's ridiculous.

most teams have bench players who are sadly far superior to the starting XI.

We also used to have a bench with Tevez, Giggs, Nani, Hargreaves, and Wes Brown for example... not too shabby.

Having a great squad is so 2008. oh man.

I feel I put a big list on here every summer and it never happens but hoping this could be the one (although as always won't be all these).

GK - Henderson I can see joining Forest.
Butland will go on a free (to Rangers from what I've read) and I reckon Heaton will want to play for his final couple of seasons and head off too.
Bishop and Kovar are also at the age where they probably need to go permanently and play too.

DEF - Bailly and Telles obviously go if we can get takers. Maguire I expect to leave and same with Williams and Laird. Couple of the fringe central defenders, Bernard, Mengi or Fish I expect to leave. Fernandez will probably go on loan again. Jones and Tuanzebe released.

MID - Van de Beek goes if he can find a club to take him permanently. Could see McTominay going too to raise some funds and because I think he'll want to be first choice somewhere. I also think Hannibal will be sold too. Don't think we'll make Sabitzer's loan permanent. Galbraith released.

FOR - Time up for Martial, again subject to us getting a permanent taker. Pellistri out on loan, I think the same will happen with Greenwood too. Elanga I can see also out on loan though I think we should be open to a permanent move. Shoretire I'm sure signed with Mendes' agency last summer and has a year of his contract left - I reckon he'll go too. No permanent deal for Weghorst.

Might be one or two others but these should raise some additional funds without really compromising too much in terms of the squad depth.

De Gea and McTominay.

There’s plenty others on the sidelines, but these two out of a cannon, please. They have big roles in the squad and will never be suited to the team we need to turn into.

Wan-Bissaka and Maguire not far behind them for similar reasons.

How can you be happy with Maguire being a back-up? I don't understand it.

You want Lindelöf out and keep Maguire as backup instead of the other way around?
I'd gladly keep Lindelöf as backup if he's happy with it, he's been doing very well when not paired with Maguire, in my opinion.

As I was sure that players like Pogba and Lingard didn't deserve to play for our team, I got to say that Maguire, Sancho and Marital should look for other clubs. It is no wonder why we score so little and it is no wonder why we let so many goals in. Actually, I sometime wonder if I could do same job as Sancho or Martial and ManUtd wouldn't have to pay me that much.

I find it incredible that Wan Bissaka is still on some of these lists. Fair enough if he's agitating for a move, but I'd be very reluctant to sell him.

I don't believe any of them fit well enough into the possession-based system Ten Hag wants to implement.

They are poor in possession, not press resistant, and can't pass fast and precise enough.

Jones is a given

But Fred will probably get a new deal, in keeping with the club's rank idiocy whenever any near-worthless players get near the end of their deal. Will be zero interest in Martial or Sancho and they'll be here next season. VDB the same. Henderson will still be injured and will be stuck on the books as well. This summer is going to be as big a trainwreck for outgoings as it always is.
This except I would give Greenwood a chance.

Bolded ones - we can get decent money for them you'd think.

I think the only 100% (ie. I genuinely don't want here and see no use for) ones are Sancho, Martial and Antony.
The rest depends, are we doing another top 4 season or are we challenging? How much funds is available etc.

I agree with him about Martial and Sancho. They've got talent but they don't have any fire in their belly. I know that sounds incredibly reductive and old fashioned but sick of carrying players that don't want to fight for the cause, we've been doing it for far too long.

There's a player in Antony, I'm convinced of it. If he can learn to vary his game and not cut inside ALL the time, and if he can improve his decision making, he'd be a valuable player. Two big ifs but it's up to ETH to get it out of him. And at least he's got a bit of attitude about him.

You won't get much for DvB, he's had a bad injury and hasn't played for a long time, Sancho and Henderson earn too much, if we wanna get rid of them the selling price will have to be low

12 players that 100% should leave the club as there is none positive impact that can be expected. The remaining players could somehow be useful depending on what transfers we can make. But keeping the current team including loan players and youth players we should not need to replace any of the above 12 players

Easier to say who i would keep:

Lisandro Martinez
Fernandes
Rashford
Luke Shaw
Garnacho
Antony (need more time)
Malacia (need more time)
Pellestri (need more time)
Lindeløf (as 3rd choise)

Replaced over time:

Casemiro (age)
Eriksen (age and somewhat limited)
Varane (age)

Rest should be used as squad players until replaced.

The only players in the squad now i think we should and probaly will offload are Maguire and Elanga. I also do not think we should try to sign either of our Loaned players in Wout and Sabitzer

Apart from that if we can offload some of our players who are loaned out. Henderson, Bailly and Telles. Then we also know Tuanzebe and Jones are out the door.

I think that would be fine. Keep Martial as we will need a back up to whoever the new striker is. Keep Lindelof as he has proved himself recently and we need 4 good centra backs. DDG issue can wait another year, Prioritse new striker and centre back

Next time you put a name at least make the effort to check if maybe the player is about to be released, his contract with us expired or maybe he's already been sold a season ago.

I checked an old list. Chong and Dubravka aren't here anymore, who cares.

Point still stands with the other two - United are awful at chopping deadwood. Wouldn't be surprised if we offer both Jones and Tuanzebe five-year contracts.
