Worst episode for Roman.

Everyone is even more in it for themselves and division is only going to increase among the kids.

Another wonderful production and filming.

However the show ends, there's going to be so many open ended/unfinished storylines and wondering what happens to who, now that so and so gets control of Waystar Royco.

Far too much is happening this season, I’m sorry it just is. Pacing feels off and plot points from the previous episode are simply dropped minutes into the next. How they’ve gone from rigging the election for their candidate to racing against him not one episode later borders on the ridiculous.
The God tier dialogue deserves a bit more imo.

Again reinforces how horrible the Roy siblings are, Shiv is really to have a deal with Mencken to suit her purposes.

There's no chance that Mattson will choose her as the CEO, maybe Greg will be chosen.

Rome screwing up and getting played is like Antony cutting inside to his left foot.

So what are we expecting of Roman next episode?

I think it’s either going to be:

A. He’s in a coma after having the living shit kicked out of him.

B. He will be fine but there will be footage of him having his breakdown, trying to fight everyone and shouting some really problematic stuff for the company.

I also have an issue with this aspect of the show. Certain things are set up to be potential flashpoints and then just disappear. By now I've accepted it as part of the style of the show and I put up with it because other aspects of the show are really good.

As for the election call and how it played out this last episode, I do think it sort of makes sense even if none of the characters spelled it out. Mencken is potentially President elect now, if they have nothing immediately on him and no more cards to play (can't reverse their call) then Mencken isn't that beholden to them anymore. It was pretty hilarious how they all piled onto him at the funeral reception, spoke over him and over each other. It's clear how desperate they are. In a sense this is again just showing how inept the kids are at the whole game, as they have very low impulse control.

Greg as CEO - that would be some top tier comedy conclusion to the show!
And it's becoming incredibly likely.... President and Matsson absolutely toying with the lot of them and putting him in charge. Logan rolling in his grave.

Some criticism for season 4 in here I see, but I don't agree with much of it. And I certainly don't think it's a drop on season 3, covid beyond hurt that season, sticks out like a sore thumb as the worst of the 4.

Yeah I mean Greg couldn’t tell his arse from his elbow (excuse the language!) in a board room, let alone it being even plausible in the slightest that he has what it takes to lead a multi billion dollar company/empire.

I get it that the show isn’t exactly a true story but it’s always (for the most part anyway) been a drama (with bits of humor thrown in) and fairly believable. That would just very much be a “wow” kind of ending (and not in a good way, other than maybe a bit of a giggle).

Alas, not too bothered either way because it’s been 4 seasons of mostly epic television, nearing its end. And it’s been more about the character arcs and character development anyway. Either way, I don’t see them trying to tie up/conclude on every single plot/sub plot by the end.

At least season three was consistent. It was Ken standing up and failing while big money money gets away with it again.
This season that would have that resolved in an episode and a half. How many times are we going to see Ken brew some master plan as the episode ends only to see it not even get off the ground mid way through next week.
What happened to his alliance with Frank?!
These episodes represent each day in succession which is insane.

Neither of these. I think he'll be fine, and his downfall will be a combination of his breakdown at the funeral and/or his situation with Gerri, plus Kendall suddenly making moves to outplay and supersede him

B may be a possibility, but A just doesn't feel like it would be in this show.

Roman isn't in a coma, he's fine. It shows in the previews and he didn't get stomped on. He stumbled his way out of the fracas. Just shows that the kids underestimated the riots and thought they were immune to it, even if they literally were driven past it or walked through it. The scene with Ken and his former wife was terrible optics for Ken and shows that they still do not work well with what is out of their control. They have to pick and choose their battles much better.

He's going to saddle up with Ken, but he's emotionally broken and has such terrible implusive reactions, who knows what he'll end up doing to impact the company.

But that's what happens more days than not when we're talking about something having a succession. There will be important days with meetings, lots of scheming and ideas. But at the end of the day, there's going to be some type of succession, whether or not it's one of the kids, they'll still have their money, elite connections at the top, and can do whatever they want imaginable.

Ken can think of 3 startup companies with or without Jess, but that doesn't mean it'll actually come to fruition. He just has that ability and resources to do so. All the old heads can work for Ken at Waystar or whatever company he can start because they have the money, resources, and know-how. Whether or not its the company their father started, who knows.

Ken's trying to cozy up to Carl, Frank, Collin, even Jess when she told Ken she eventually wants to leave him.

The parallels of the show to the succession of Manchester United is hilariously familiar in too many spots. And it shows how messy and chaotic things can get when not everybody is totally align and when influential people or key stakeholders always have their own prerogative .

Can you kindly feck right off with this sort of bullshit? I along with others don’t watch previews because they contain spoilers.

I don’t really expect everything to get tied up nice and neatly. There will be messy things left unresolved but that’s life I guess. Hoping for a satisfying conclusion anyway.

Did Caroline ever actually congratulate Shiv on the pregnancy? I noticed she congratulated Tom as soon as she saw him.

Also, does anyone else get the vibe Mattson is gonna screw over Shiv and choose someone else as his US CEO?

Yes characters have been fleshed out well, but development has been non-existent. Did think it was going to be some kind of Kendall redemption, but that died in Season 3.
That’s the point! They are incapable of development because they’re all ghouls that don’t need to grow in order to be billionaires.

You’re missing the entire point, or watching the wrong show.

It would be funny if he picked Ken.

I might be 'missing the point' but that doesn't make it a good aspect of the show.

It has been so nicely set up for Dark Kendall ascension, that I wonder if there's gonna be some total mindfeck with the CEO positon . Or the show will end with the start of the second civil war. They must have one last upset prepared.

Sitting there watching and expecting some of the worst people to ever be characterised on tv… to change because you think they should… is very silly.

These kids haven’t changed since they were… well, kids.

You’re imprinting your idea of what something should be, onto something that has never, nor will never attempt to do that.

It’s one of the best aspects of the show. No idea why you think all shows should work the same. The whole beauty of Succession is that it doesn’t.

Sorry, but did you not see him walk/stumble throughout the crowd after he got hit in the head?
I saw him get beaten up and then disappear into the crowd shouting more abuse asking for trouble. They deliberately left it as a cliff hanger.

You are reading a whole lot into a few lines in a few posts. Why do you care anyway?

No way he isn’t okay enough for the series finale.
Exactly...let's totally mute the most emotionally volatile character/kid and not let his hatred to Mattison not play out in the series finale...right.

And then the immediate preview scenes for the next show and the review commentary of the show are fair game.

Anyone else think it’s weird they’ve covered about one week in the whole season? Always felt like previous seasons would take place over months where there’s time for shit to happen in between episodes and events. This has been so full on it’s a bit weird.

a great show but I’m not sure I like the format of this final season.

They literally killed off the main character in the 3rd episode of the last season and you think it was unrealistic to think they might start the final episode with one of the characters whose own story arc has all but closed either in a coma or dead?

Some cracking lines, though.

"Grim weeper"

"Hey sexy"
"Oh you're too kind"

"5 mill off a guy who owned a pet shop"
"Good price"

The best was Shiv’s “I’m pregnant” follwed by Roman’s “is it mine?”

I don't think I did because the episode has already been aired and I'm in the U.S., plus the entire episode includes total run time of all programming that was played in the 1 hour 20+ minutes from last night.

And the series finale preview has been available to the world for 18 hours.
