Created feck all. First shot on target from open play was 91st minute. Said it all season, team has no bottle
That has nothing to do with bottle - everything to do with quality

De Gea hoofing it clear just isn’t good enough. Would be the first player sold under Pep. Joint statement saying he’s going thanks for the memories should be the next step

Fred is fecking brain dead. He’s an absolute shocking player that would look bang average at Fulham

This game sums up the fortunes of both clubs over the past decade, financially doped city on their way to a inevitable treble that was always coming at some point and pictures of fergie happily sitting next the parasites that have held this club back from it's real potential

Better team won . DDG should have saved the second. Just shows only Qatar will bring us up to city’s level. Looked fitter, sharper and stronger all game. I can only hope city get busted by the FFP stuff, because they look untouchable

City better in every department, including the fans. This felt like an away game.
I said it in the other thread, but the ratio of fans was batshit crazy. Honestly, I saw 3-5 City shirts for every United one. And here I thought that City has no fans.

Thought we were actually okay, they did try their best, DDG should have saved the goal because I thought at 1-1 we looked good. Towards the end we got in a few times too but luck wasn't on our side. Considering they have no injuries and a proper number 9, it is what it is. Been a great season still and we move forward. I couldn't care less about their plastic cheating treble ( we still did it first :P )

BTW

Man City (1.22) 2-1 (1.89) Man Utd

Well that's the treble for them.
We need massive change to compete with them.

Sancho can't start another game whilst Garnacho is available next season. I don't understand his logic of getting passed the ball, standing on it until someone tackles him then doing the same thing again and again.

Rashford successfully proved the point as to why we need a striker.

Other than that I'd just say it was an overall pretty poor game. They were slightly less poor than us but not much and De Gea should have saved their second goal.

Gutted would be an understatement. Losing a final is tough but losing to that lot knowing that they could potentially win the treble now is a tough one to take.

Shut them down in patches.

I don't fell they were ever really threatening.

A worldie and a dribbler that our defenders ignored and our keeper watched until it was too late.

Haaland seems to like to run his mouth and play dirty when he doesn't have space.

I can see that being a bad time for him if he comes up against the wrong player.

Luckily Varane has too much class to retaliate.

Sancho is a little coward. Off with you. Dave isn't up to scratch. Eriksen not sharp enough. Different game if Dave's hands weren't made of biscuits.

Thought Fred, AWB had a good game. Rest were relatively solid.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
Well...better than we all thought! At least there were some flashes.

Our defensive coaching/set up was horrible. The players at the start bottling even going for the ball, then on the second, how do you justify leaving the one player who scores range goals for fun, who has already done it in this game, alone? Amateurish stuff, in fact he was left alone all game.

So much to work on and get right, but we do have some glimmers of hope. Neither of those are Sancho and Woat though...my god, what wastes of positions they are.

I thought it was actually very even despite what the media coverage will tell you.

No disgrace in losing that way to them.

Garnacho was great and another day we nick that.

Surprisingly not gutted. City winning a cup feels sterile now.

On the positive side, Lindelof is looking like he will be an awesome and important player for us. His former partnership with Maguire almost wrecked his career.

Bring on next season. We should be a tighter outfit with Mount in the middle of the park together with Casemiro.

Have to rely on Inter now to preserve our treble. Guardiola and Mourinho have turned the modern game so boring and systemic. Rarely watch live games these days and I was reminded why today.

It's no shock that our goal difference is so trash with the lack of attacking talent on full display in that match.

I've already internalized City winning the treble to cope when they won against Madrid but still, bitterly disappointing to lose the way we did.

The missed chance at the end sums it up though really. If we were on the winning side of the score and it was City with that same chance, it's 2-2.

Why the hell is Garnacho not a starter? Having to watch Sancho, walk around doing stepovers. Garnacho starts, could have been different, caused all sorts of problems.
Garnacho has been poor starting games. Right now he's a very good sub. ETH is on record as saying the next step in his progress is to get him to give these performances for 90 mins.

Throwing him in for the cup final as a starter would have been mental. That's something for next season.

This game just confirmed everything we should have already known about our players.

DDG - Good shot stopper terrible at everything else especially in high pressure moments
AWB - Excellent 1v1 defender but offensively and technically challenged
Varane - top defender but waning physically
Lindelof - Decent backup but soft
Shaw - top left back
Casemiro - Great DM
Eriksen - a liability against teams that take the game to us
Fred - energetic and hardworking but little quality
Sancho - An embarrassingly weak and timid player
Bruno - Good player but not top class. Not the type of player you build top teams around
Rashford - See Bruno

Nothing was a surprise here. All the players we want replaced proved it.

EtH set us up as well as he could we just don't have the players to compete with this City side.

Disappointing that we didn't even make them work for it. Essentially they coasted the game

Just gave them a rest ahead of their champs league final. Don’t know why we wouldn’t play with intensity.

I have a lot of feelings about that game. Above all else: We didn't do enough to win.

That match should have really shook the scales from a few eyes. City bullied us at times. Eriksen and Sancho especially were treated like lightweights. Fred not far behind them.

The squad needs serious restructuring. And if it's our belief that Mount in there next to Casemiro would've stopped us getting manhandled, our scouts need to wake up.

Not to sound like Gary Neville but pace and power should be necessities for us to even consider recruiting players.

Can Garnacho keep up that energy for the full 90. Especially against City. It made more sense to bring him on when the city defenders were tiring and he had ample chances. He just didn’t get the lucky break needed.

The team did ok against the best team in the World. It was a game beginning to end and the players and manager should be proud. Next year we will be a lot better.

Shame for that shitty second goal though.

We just don't have the players. It's that simple. A better keeper than DDG and we don't concede the goals. A better player than McT equalizes in the end. A better striker than Rashford allows us to win aerial balls and gain some kind of control. Our players needed to have flawless games to win today. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Feel gutted but I know we have the base of a good team.

Shaw, Varane, Lindelof, AWB and Garnacho can all go from this game proud.

Good effort on the whole but lack of quality is what did us in the end. City played a lot worse than I thought they would. Really didn't do a lot but it looked like we were short two players for 60 minutes because Eriksen and Sancho did not turn up. Less said about De Gea the better but if I was Murtough, this would be his last ever game for the club.

The weaknesses are clear. Composure on the ball, control in possession and goals upfront. Hopefully we can decisively address all three this summer.

Nothing to be too disheartened about. They're a better side but we had our moments. We know what our issues are, DDG, the 2nd CM and the CF. This side will be transformed if we can even do a half-decent job of fixing those three positions.

The only shame is that we conceded a soft 2nd goal out of nothing really owing to more feeble goalkeeping from DDG

Garnacho needs to be considered ahead of Sancho now for next season.

Fair result. City are the bench mark and we are not at that level.
They bossed the game in the large part.
we kept it tight and were in it to the end, no disgrace.
we look far more threatening with Garnacho on the pitch.

I thought some of our players lacked urgency and desire.
Erikson can no longer compete against high tempo opposition. Sancho would be a different player under Pep who will not tolerate ineptitude.

Hopefully we recruit and upgrade before next season.

Realistically, this has been as good as it was ever going to get. There was no way on Earth that City were ever going to lose this.

We gave it a good go and lost only by one goal. Again, that's better than anything we could have expected. The gulf in quality is simply too big. Not getting humiliated is a success.

Also, at least the most punchable face in football did feck all. That's something.

Fought and pressed quite well but not to be. We had no real danger men in the final 3rd apart from Rashford who was playing out of position and Garnacho when he came on who’s still a kid. Hope city get done by the Premier League.

Thought we did alright, held our own at times but just lacked some quality and depth on the bench. Despite his up and down season I always think we miss Antony when he doesn't play, the width he gives seems to help other attacking players.
