Quite frankly it should be done - there is way more to this than simply what happened when it all started.. but let's start there

1. The initial pictures and audio are damning, whether there was a criminal conviction or not, he wasn't found guilty in a court of law but he hasn't exactly been found innocent either. I'm a big believer in justice and innocent until proven guilty but after seeing the pictures and especially hearing the audio there is no way on this earth I could ever support this guy playing for this club ever again and no amount of goals or trophies will absolve that if he is involved, some things are bigger than football.

2. Physically he will not be the same, he's been out of football for what seems like forever now and there is no way he will get back to the level he was at prior to being banned, if he ever does at all. I'm sure he's been trying to keep fit all this time but it isn't the same and I don't think one summer is going to change that, it would take years I think - again, if ever.

3. Mentally he will be shot, all of this is plastered everywhere for everyone to see, he will get absolutely no sympathy or empathy from anybody outside of Manchester United, and even then he might not get any from some people at the club as well, travelling to any stadium is going to be a complete disaster for him and it won't just be in a Beckham being boo'd for being sent off at the World Cup way. There's absolutely nothing to say he will be mentally tough enough to weather what will be a storm for the rest of his career here in England or even if he's mentally tough enough to give it a proper go again

4. His attitude problems have been documented before this event came to light as well, some of the things he was doing behind the scenes were clearly hidden from us until recently but it seems like he was a bit of a disruption in the dressing room

5. The club will be dragged through the mud if we let him back in, make no mistake, we will be looked down upon by a lot of people, both in and outside of the club. Just imagine you are the women's team playing for Manchester United, you listen to that audio and you see those pictures and you see him in training, I can't even imagine.

I could go on, the thing is there is only one reason he will be brought back, and it's usually the reason that tops all others regardless - Money. The hierarchy of the club will see him as nothing more than a financial asset and if we basically let him go or sell him on the cheap they will see it as a waste. Personally I hope the club does the right thing and sells or releases him so that if he chooses to reignite his career somewhere else then so be it, but I do not want to see it here personally and I don't care if he smashes it somewhere else. We should be better than that.

Could potentially work assuming he's still good after all this time. Not sure about Eriksen there for next year though, but that's for another thread.

Eriksen will never start a big game again after today. He will start against the poor teams that we dominate alright.

I meant this season if we had a proven goalscorer like him instead of wasting a full season on an injured Martial and a donkey like Weghorst.

Obviously next season Eriksen should be nowhere near the starting XI. And we'll need a CF regardless of what happens with Greenwood.

TBH I have wanted to see Greenwood & Rashford playing in a striker partnership off a False 9 traditional striker like Kane for sometime.

I think the future of football is the return of the double striker partnerships & this will be one of the first turning points.

Is it enough to say he hasnt reformed? Its very easy to judge but the facts are we dont know everything and the courts werent able to convict, without the full picture i refuse to cast judgement and will consider only the footballing element. That may seem shallow and I cant comprehend any facts eluded to the recording that would justify it but hes legally innocent and my interest in him is what he can do on a football field only, I cant judge him, I dont have millions of pounds at a young age and everybody around me telling me how amazing I am.

The courts fail to convict all the time, especially when it comes to DA. It's very rife in the UK more so than most would think. The vast majority of incidents don't even make it to the courts because of the circumstances involved i.e. unreliable witnesses and statements being retracted etc.

The public does have something here, we heard the recordings and they are vile. It is enough for me to conclude what sort of person he is.

Some things are more important than football and this is definitely one of them. Of course I hope he reforms and changes but he can do it away from my club.

The real battle would have been Lingard. I could only imagine how that would have gone.

If we do sack Greenwood there'll be very valid questions for the club to answer about why we chose to sign Ronaldo, who was credibly accused of rape, and why Giggs was a guest of honour in the Director's Box in 2021 while he was under active investigation for abuse and violence against two women and coercive control against one of them.

I'm not sure that's the best comparison though. If that was his level, a lot of people would want him out regardless, even if none of this had ever happened.

If he can prove that he's a changed man and has taken concrete steps to prove that then maybe as I do believe in second chances. Especially when it comes to youths.

The way his case has panned out legally and the fact that he'll be starting a family soon makes me hope that he has put that all of that behind him but if during the investigation the club have even the slightest inkling or doubt to the contrary, he should be sent packing on the first plane out.

Preferably abroad rather than to a domestic club too.

I'll hope that the club will do their proper due diligence before coming to the conclusion.

It's not a 100% black or white decision for me so I do understand both sides of the argument

On the caveat that it's given the green light by the majority at the club to give him a second chance. If it's seemingly deemed acceptable by the public, media, sponsors, etc for other top teams in the league to carry on picking players in very similar situations, really don't think we should give in to tabloid and social media double standards provided, as I say, the club as a whole are prepared to accept him back.

Very tricky situation, though, I accept. Especially as there'll be a lot more scrutiny and pressure put on us to jettison a top talent compared to what other PL teams have faced in similar circumstances.

I understand that, do you believe any former player has done such things or worse and it not be publically released? I do, which means the difference is his actions were out there for all to see and that has made it more real and harder to accept, id like him to come out and acknowledge it was disgusting and that he is seeking help and wants to better himself irrelevant of whether he comes back to Utd or not, not for his public image but out of sincerety as I do think he needs help

If money is a factor they could just as easily sell him to another big European club. I think ultimately, United will make their decision based on perceived risk to brand reputation, which would be informed by public perception of whether the benefits of retaining him outweigh those of releasing him.
