Especially if we can get them both for reasonable wages. A good part of the cost would be offset by what is saved from Martial ( not to mention Phil Jones and Tuanzebes wages)
Guesswork, but I imagine wages for both would be around £200k-£250k p/w total, which I believe would be a saving of £0k-£50k p/w on Martial, then there’s Weghorst’s wages to save on too.

Taremi has also the bonus of being tactically ****, which probably ETH is well aware. At Porto he's been deployed as forward, winger and midfielder so the team can adapt to the game circuntances. There were several games where he started as a forward and then was moved to another position so Porto could change their tactics during the match.

But as many pointed, he's a good player., not a starlet. Excelent for the portuguese league level, but it will be a good squad option for the Premier League that will guarantee some goals + assists during the season and make sure the team can rotate.

My only slight concern is for most of his European and international career he has been playing alongside another striker in a 4-4-2 (Evanilson/Azmoun).

Do you think he can be as effective as a lone 9?

Holjund and Taremi would be decent business. I think we need to be realistic and accept that the chances of us getting a striker in this summer who's going to guarantee 20+ goals is pretty slim. If we can spread the goals across our front-line and midfield I don't think scoring goals will be an issue (see Arsenal this season). We just need to ensure we're rock-solid at the back.

If we get Mount in and move to a 4-3-3 with two number 8's I'd be expecting around 10 goals from both him and Bruno next season. I don't think we need to worry about Rashford scoring plenty of goals next season either provided he stays fit. Then it falls on our other players like Antony, Garnarcho, Sancho and then Holjund and Taremi if we sign them both to chip in with their fair share of goals.

If the idea is to have fluidity in the attack, he will do well. He can do the target striker role, he's a big strong fella with good ball control, but he's actually more comfortable in a more dynamic role.

Nice link, think he'd be a welcome addition. Would he be our first ever Middle-eastern player that we've bought?

Yes good choice.

When I was looking for an alternative to the well known strikers Taremi is what popped up.

He scored an unreal bycicle kick if I remember.

Id then wait a season to see who is better between Hojlund & Ferguson.

If Kane wants to join us then he can join us on a free.

He'd be signed as the second striker and we'd also sign Hojlund

I personally see the likelihood of the unnamed ex-player returning and playing as our 2nd striker to be higher, Rashford as 3rd.

Hojlund could join, it’s not impossible - but for the price he is, as a 60m player that has arguably just broken on to the scene, it seems better to see how he develops to me personally.

Is Tunisia considered to be in the middle-east? Then Mejbri would be earlier. Not sure about before that.

In my eyes that's North Africa, but they may feel different and wouldn't like to assume. Potential pub quiz question in waiting.

One thing to note: if we do sign him, or Kim, or Osimhen, or Amrabat, or possibly Onana.

They’d be gone for a month this coming season between mid-Jan and mid-Feb for AFCON/Asian Cup.

Shouldn’t be too much of an issue but something to keep in mind.

Depends on which definition…but yeah he would be the first to have been born in the Middle East and played top-flight football there.

Hannibal would count if you include North Africa, although he was born in Europe.

Zidane is Middle-Eastern but he came through the academy of course and was never bought.

I think the point of signing this guy would surely be to sign a young striker that would cost more too - i'd worry if we signed this guy on his own personally

Just him on his own is definitely not enough

Never seen him play but aren’t his stats padded by 6 or 7 penalties in the last few games?

Yes lets wait till he costs 120m. And the unnamed player will be back, however he’ll be a wide option too and will need time after missing 18 months

Ayye I think that'd be a decent idea, but don't trust us to sign two is all. I fear this guy and Martial would be the reality.
Yeah could easily happen if we try to lowball for Hojlund which I wouldn't put past us

Have wanted us to sign this guy for over 2 years now. He's basically a Raúl Jiménez clone in terms of physical stature except a lof more assured when dropping deep.

I watched the game against Kyrgyzstan yesterday and he was involved in everything good that Iran did, as well as scoring a hat-trick.

He's done it in Portugal, done it at the WC, done it in the Asian cup.

Our only mistake would be to sign Taremi as our only option and run him into the ground. MUST be accompanied by a Hojlund (or similar, younger signing.)

It will be amazing if we sign him. I May be biased having been born in Iran. But he is a really great player. He also has shown to be mentally rough through all recent issues in Iran and their participation in the World Cup.

I can really get behind this. He’s very similar in profile to Kane, just not as clinical (in fairness who is?) but more mobile. For ~€20m he’d be a great pickup, as long as his signing is accompanied by someone like Hojlund or Kolo-Muani.

Would be surprised if we could afford this guy and Kolo-Muani but happy to be proved wrong

Dont watch Portuguese football. What type of player is he. I think this type of striker and a Hojlund would be a success this summer. With Kane now looking unlikely

In terms of value for money this is a lot more favourable than other striker targets we’ve been linked with. €20m for a proven goal scorer in this market is worth considering even if he wasn’t one of the top names on the list.

He’s not an exciting world-class talent but he posts good numbers despite also being quite selfless in front of goal too.

Offer them Martial in exchange. The Portuguese league is probably his level, he might actually look like a footballer over there.

Even if Taremi is shit, if he’s better at scoring goals than Weghorst, and can play most weeks he’d be an upgrade on Martial.

Should be looking at someone a little younger. I’d only go for a 30+ if they were proven in one of the really top leagues.

I know its a bit of a running joke on here to say transfers would cost more if we offer our shite player in exchange

but in this case I think it would be true

we'd have to pay at least half of Martial's wages for him to go there
