I imagine he had a lot of offersNo one else is bidding for him because he’s told everyone he’s going Manchester United.
How many clubs bid for Jude Bellingham.

Naive to believe their initial valuation. You always state you want more than you actually want. Same as when you start lower than you are actually willing to pay. This way you can climb down and climb up respectively.I think everyone is running away slightly wiht the whole Chelsea winning thing here as well, their original estimation is 70-80 and they've had to climb down a bit too mind, it's not just us having to bump up, we'll most likely meet at 60 and call it a day, which is a bit more than our original offer but it's also less than Chelsea originally wanted. So it's not like Chelsea have stuck to their price and then we've waited all summer and caved and paid that price. This isn't like an Antony.
This. I have a feeling it will end extremely negative if we bend over now.Really don't want us to sign him, so hopefully the club walks away now to make a statement.
I think Dortmund handle transfers differently. They get access to young talents because they agree to sell soon and for not much money. I think there must be clauses in contracts of their players to let them leave for a set fee.No one else is bidding for him because he’s told everyone he’s going Manchester United.

De Jong was a different situation in that he fit like a glove in terms of what we needed from a midfielder, and we actually agreed an initial fee for him which was less than what Chelsea are asking for Mount with a year left on his contract. So we're £10m apart, with Chelsea open to further negotiations. Another £5m-ish probably gets this done. One of our primary targets over the line, in time for pre-season and yet everyone is demanding we walk away. I get some don't fancy the player (he wasn't top of my list either), but imagine this exact situation happened last year with FDJ and the board played chicken over these amounts.
If he aint the guy, then we need to look at the people who identify our targets, but once we have decided on them, we shouldn't be pulling out at late stage negotiations to save face.
We also shouldn't be making public "take it or leave it" offers, if that isn't our intentions.
Yes best would be to snare Caicedo, who Chelsea want, and get Mount next year anyways. The right move forward feels really, really obvious. Spend the limited money on a striker, goalkeeper and a different profile of midfielder. Sign a pre contract agreement in january.
fecking chelsea up is a nice bonus.
Caicedo cost around 80m to 100m with reports saying Brighton want 60-70m upfront.Yes best would be to snare Caicedo, who Chelsea want, and get Mount next year anyways.
This makes it easier for us to move on to other targets whilst Mount continues to fight to move to us, it’s good to see someone who actually WANTS to play for us.Tweet

If we move fast then there’s no reason we can’t get Rice, we have players in Maguire and McTominay that West Ham want so have strong negotiation tactics. We won't get Rice but there is real possibility of being able to sign the other two
I agree he's more expensive, but then we can get Mount for free* next year.Caicedo cost around 80m to 100m with reports saying Brighton want 60-70m upfront.
Nobody but Chelsea will pay that.
Chelsea will sign Caicedo no matter what. I don’t get why people think we’re helping them out. They’re getting 65m for havertz. Kante has left, Koulibaly has left… they’ll have money for him wether they sell Mount or not.Walk away. Use the money for Caicedo. Promise Mount we'll be back for him next season with a sizeable amount of signing on fee.
I was okay with this transfer if it didn't cost too much because it's clear Mount and ETH wants it to happen, but if we're having to spend upwards of 60m++, we should walk away and not finance Chelsea's Caicedo bid.
No people are right. They can’t buy Caicedo without the Mount money. You are mentioning players that they have overall made a loss on their books.Chelsea will sign Caicedo no matter what. I don’t get why people think we’re helping them out. They’re getting 65m for havertz. Kante has left, Koulibaly has left… they’ll have money for him wether they sell Mount or not.
But the cash upfront plays into our striker budget which is the whole point of us doing that we are currently doing and why we can’t just go for Declan Rice.I agree he's more expensive, but then we can get Mount for free* next year.
*May have to pay a big sign on bonus but will still offset a huge chunk of Caicedo transfer
Fair point. There's a juggling act in play for sure. But the cash upfront plays into our striker budget which is the whole point of us doing that we are currently doing and why we can’t just go for Declan Rice.
I don't believe even Chelsea would pay that to be honest , Big If when Rice goes for above 100 m which seems likely now then I could see a scenario where Brighton price Caicedo out of the move as I don't believe Clubs are as Keen on Caicedo as some of the fans are at the moment to go absolute bonkers for himCaicedo cost around 80m to 100m with reports saying Brighton want 60-70m upfront.
Nobody but Chelsea will pay that.
If they started negotiations at £80m they were obviously expecting less than that as its a negotiation, we started at £40m and have now made a 3rd and final offer so if we bid more now we're overpaying. With only 1 year left on his contract Chelsea don't hold all the powerChelsea wanted over 80m didn't they? Now looks likely it'll get done for around 60 I think? So we're not paying it eventually, are we?
Ye but 65m for havertz and 30m for Kovacic will be enough to sign Caicedo. And they’ll still probably sell Mount to us eventually. They want more then just Caicedo so the Mount money could be funding them to sign someone els.No people are right. They can’t buy Caicedo without the Mount money. You are mentioning players that they have overall made a loss on their books.
Mount is full profit.
Yes we can buy Caicedo without selling Mount. We have others we can sell like RLC or Chalobah who Inter Milan wants. Mount might extend if Poch plays him well.No people are right. They can’t buy Caicedo without the Mount money. You are mentioning players that they have overall made a loss on their books.
Mount is full profit.
You forget the 20 other players they bought last year that has to be balanced?Ye but 65m for havertz and 30m for Kovacic will be enough to sign Caicedo. And they’ll still probably sell Mount to us eventually. They want more then just Caicedo so the Mount money could be funding them to sign someone els.
Kovacic cost them £40m and Havertz I’m sure cost them £75m. They will have to offset the remaining cost off what the buying clubs have paid for them. Not sure if this is exactly how it works but it’s very similar to what I’m saying. That all said selling these players doesn’t give them enough money to spend £80m on Caicedo.Ye but 65m for havertz and 30m for Kovacic will be enough to sign Caicedo. And they’ll still probably sell Mount to us eventually. They want more then just Caicedo so the Mount money could be funding them to sign someone els.
Mount ain’t signing a new contract he’s leaving for us.Yes we can buy Caicedo without selling Mount. We have others we can sell like RLC or Chalobah who Inter Milan wants. Mount might extend if Poch plays him well.
If he leaves on a free then you're up against all the top clubs for his signature. He's Bayern bound if Tuchel is still there.Mount ain’t signing a new contract he’s leaving for us.
He wouldn't easily get into their starting lineup though. He would here and he has friends in United, plus he gets to stay in England. If he leaves on a free then you're up against all the top clubs for his signature. He's Bayern bound if Tuchel is still there.
The reported alternative for Mount was Caicedo. If there's any truth in that you could easily envisage a scenario where we returned for Mount next summer, as those two players are very different in profile. If he leaves on a free then you're up against all the top clubs for his signature. He's Bayern bound if Tuchel is still there.
Also, is Ten Hag going to wait a year? Whatever role he has in mind for Mount will surely be filled by someone else this summer.
That's like buying a pair of shoes because you can't afford a jacket. The reported alternative for Mount was Caicedo.
Because he played under Poch. Football is littered with players wanting to leave under previous regime only to change their minds when a new managers comes in. Mount has been at Chelsea since 6 years old and there is definitely an affinity. If he becomes a valuable clog in Poch system he will definitely sign United or Real Madrid.Mount ain’t signing a new contract he’s leaving for us.
Can you sell those players you mentioned by next Friday for the fees you wanted to Italian clubs? Good luck.
