8 years! Glad to see this chelsea board seems too arrogant to admit they were stupid with those long deals.
JLimgz is my idol.Dear God, is that J Lingz thing he is doing in the photo? Great, he will be shite just like tik tok dancer.
It's lifelong financial security for these guys - Chelsea are targeting young players who haven't signed a lucrative contract yet for the most part. All the long contracts we're signing players too are also heavily incentivised - so as the team does well wages will increase. Think that's noteworthy going forward - "CL financial windfalls" may be a lot less meaningful for Chelsea than other teams as a result.Does anyone know what kind of contract it takes to get young players to sign such long contracts?
Are Chelsea committing to paying large wages (or wages that go up every year)? If not, why sign such long contracts..
Well if we take Mudryk for example.Does anyone know what kind of contract it takes to get young players to sign such long contracts?

It's a ploy by the owners of Chelsea to make their fans do all sorts of mental contortions to justify it, which in turn takes their mind off finishing twelfth with no European football. Seems to be working.Does anyone know what kind of contract it takes to get young players to sign such long contracts?

Getting handcuffed by our shit owners?Suspect they’ve bought him so they can sell him to us for profit.
Advanced trolling from Boehly.
WHAT ARE OUR SCOUTS DOING?
What is there to justify about 8 year contracts? It's a ploy by the owners of Chelsea to make their fans do all sorts of mental contortions to justify it, which in turn takes their mind off finishing twelfth with no European football. Seems to be working.
What are you expectations from this season? No European football, but maybe that's a chance to freshen things up a bit.I believe that is what will happened. Nkunku will help fill the goal scoring burden since he was top goal scorers in Bundesliga last season. So your main goal scoring outlet will be jackson, Borja, Nkunku. With players like sterling, Casadei (if he stays) and Gallagher (if he stays) being other areas where you will get goals.
There is also a big possibility that Pochettino increase the attacking output of your fullback, so they could be as productive for Chelsea as Trent and Robinson are for Liverpool.
It doesn't seem like you have quality option up front, but that is what many assume as well when Pochettino took and developed unknowns in Ali, son and Kane and turn them into superstars.
I can easily see Nkunku surpassing Ali, while it is hard to see Jackson surpassing Kane (even though Jackson looks more refined now than Kane was before). Looking at Jackson stats and how he plays, he definitely have the potential to turn into a top talent. When it comes to son, I don't see any of your wide players emulating the similiar goal scoring threat. Perhaps if you get garbi Vargas, then he could be molded into a son type player. But your current wide attackers are more suited for creating for the strikers rather than scoring on their own (beside sterling).
Chelsea new attack is still very raw and they will need good management to fulfill their potential. You don't have any world class talent up there, but you have a lot of potential which Pochettino is good at developing.
Nothing but a few of your fellow fans are trying. What is there to justify about 8 year contracts?
Jackson had a release clause for €35M. Apparently we've now paid a couple million over the clause to negotiate a different payment schedule instead of triggering the clause in one go.Not a huge miss for us in terms of looking at a no 9 but how come Chelsea are able to get a young striker for under 40m, yet we're quoted 60-70m for Holjund, who is similar in terms of experience. Honestly, our rank incompetence at transfers bites us again and again, teams know we overpay, hence we get rinsed for an extra 10-20m on every transfer.

Højlund is two years younger and has already cost his current club a €17M fee just last year so obviously they're not going to let him go on the cheap.
I would argue if we tried to buy Højlund, we would be quoted the same fee as you are. Just like we’re being told Caicedo is going to cost £100M and they fleeced us for Cucurella. You say United tax but both of our clubs are known for overpaying for players so they see us coming a mile off.Ok fair enough on the 17m fee bringing him in. However, even at 35m, Atalanta would double their money. So still doesn't explain the premium for similar type talent for United when trying to buy Hojlund. My impression, is that its the United tax that gets levied on every transfer. We don't help ourselves when we overpayed for Antony by 40-50m.
It depends on who Pochettino gets to be honest. If Pochettino can get Caceido, onana, along with lavia and garbi veiga/Kudus, expectations should be top 4. Anything less than that quality and depth option and europa league football. This is a chelsea squad that finished 12th last season and undergoing massive overhaul. It will be a miracle that they finish in a champion league place when you consider all those factors. The good thing though is that they don't have European football as you stated, so they could really adopt an intense high pressing, energetic display week in week out, which should give them some advantage in the league. What are you expectations from this season? Pertaining the thread topic, found an interesting video on jackson:

He looks like a decent addition. Good ball control, burst of pace, good dribbler, decent passer, good link up play, making nice run through channels, pressing effectively, two footer. Weak aerial threat only negative I think. It depends on who Pochettino gets to be honest. If Pochettino can get Caceido, onana, along with lavia and garbi veiga/Kudus, expectations should be top 4. Hear that we've released Mozart on a free and he's joined the Chelsea Fan Club on an eight year contract. Thanks, heard similar things from your fellow Chelsea fans as well.
It is hard to imagine that chelsea will put the weight of their season on this relative unknown. It is definitely different to what they use to do in the recent past. Typically, they would sign a striker like Oshimen, Muani or Vlahovic because they are more experienced However, Jackson has some amazing skill set that makes it appear that he can elevate chelsea to that next level. He ended the season really well at Villarreal, so it may not be a huge gamble as it seems. He looks like a decent addition. Albeit YouTube highlights I like what I saw. He is vivell s recommendation. Could be a gem. Him and nkunku can create a good striker partnership. Both hard workers and very good pressers.
Fofana will go on loan, Broja will probably stay, and everyone in your sell category will definitely be gone.Another young forward for Chelsea. What are they going to do with them all? And is there a recognised striker among them?
Sterling - RW
Fofana - CF
Jackson - CF
Madueke - loan?
Mudryk - LW
Broja - sell?
CHO - sell?
Lukaku - sell?
Pulisic - sell?
Ziyech - sell?
Fofana is being loaned. At the moment there are 4 European clubs offering loan deals. Borja and Jackson stay as strikers. Sterling, Madueke, and Mudryk stay as Wingers. The rest sold or loan with obligation to buy. Lukaku and Pulisic deals being worked right now. Ziyech is sold. CHO will be sold, he is deciding what offer to get pursue.Another young forward for Chelsea. What are they going to do with them all? And is there a recognised striker among them?

Yep, if anything we're going to be left a bit short in the attacking areas once all the proposed deals go through for outgoings (Auba, Lukaku, Ziyech, Pulisic, CHO + D. The top 3 teams funded us to become top 3 team. No fault in that statement. So us overpaying for Mount had not only funded Caceido, but now Jackson too ;-p
Apparently Chelsea is extremely good at selling players.8 years! Glad to see this chelsea board seems too arrogant to admit they were stupid with those long deals.
It's an FFP thing, no? Like they did with MudrykGiving a player an 8 year contract off the back of a 2 month purple patch is impressively mental, even for the only club worse than us for doling out cushy deals.
Could argue that Arsenal helped them aswell by signing Havertz. So us overpaying for Mount had not only funded Caceido, but now Jackson too ;-p
I thought the rules around amortization were changed so that they could only count it for a max of 5 years even if the contract was longer? It's an FFP thing, no? Like they did with Mudryk
Apparently it starts from July 1, so today was the last day a contract like that could be given and amortised over the length of 8 years.I thought the rules around amortization were changed so that they could only count it for a max of 5 years even if the contract was longer?

I am starting to think that Jackson may be their main number 9 next season. Chelsea may have gotten a world class talent at the right time before he blows up. Still hard to grasp, unless chelsea objective next season isn’t challenging for title. Is it likely he’ll be a starter #9 for Chelsea?
Just thinking ahead for Fantasy Football.
