Seems very scattershot right now but I doubt we're in for some of these players. Mount is genuine, probably Onana.

I feel we have a clear strategy for the first time in ages. I believe ETH wants to play with two #8s in the team. This means that we want to press higher up the pitch and that we need a CB and GK that are press resistant and that can cover large areas of space.

Mount is one of the best #8 we can buy. Probably the best one. Under that formation, we also ensure more goals from midfield, thus reducing the need for a top striker. Onana is one of the best GK around with the ball in his feet, and he is not afraid of covering large areas of space if needed. Thus, he makes perfect sense.

The CB that we have been linked to us are CBs that are press resistant and that can defend higher up in the pitch. This also makes sense.

This formation will also bring the best out of Sancho and Antony, since it will enable their interlink play. However, this new setup will be heavily dependent on Casemiro. We will need to sign a decent back up because no one in the squad can replace him. Finding a back-up for him would be even more important than a new CB.

We haven’t signed anyone yet, but at least the names linked to us make sense in this new formation.
Which CB's do you think EtH has in mind? I assume Martinez is a fixture and anyone new would be competing with Varane.

How are we not in for Brozovic for £22/23m? He's an excellent #6 and can also play 8. Great passer, insane work rate and press resistant. We should do everything we can to get him here. Too bad it won't happen.

Maybe he just wanted the big money

Juve seem confident that Rabiot will accept a one year contract extension.

Chelsea are being greedy over Mount and if reports are to be believed then Chelsea are in pole position to land Caicedo.

ETH seems to have got cold over Timber who was one of his primary targets last year and now Arsenal have stepped in.

Levy doesn't want to sell Kane to a Premiership rival.

Don't tell me it is only the 27th June!!

I am allowed to have premature depression :)

Everyone knows which way this is going. Absolute nightmare scenario where once again the manager is going on tour with the exact same squad as last year. Laughable really.

We are playing it smart (lol) they are letting everyone else spend their money and in the last week we will be ready to pounce on the targets we are really after.
Saving on all those wages you would have to pay during the summer. The other teams are stupid buying early. It Glazernomics working a treat and making the opposition look silly.

Rabiots mother is sending out smoke signals so Juve up their contract offer! She must be Daniel Levys evil sister.

According to the caf the window should be closing in 3 days. Any ‘well run club’ should have all their ins and outs done by then, and the remaining two months are a complete waste waste of time.

Still going with the classic "window just opened" cope while our rivals get their ins and outs done?

I have a feeling we’re going to be very non-equipped for that first game with so many positions in need of investment and so much deadwood clinging on. Just a hunch.

City with a signing to replace Gundogan. Ink's already dry on the paper.

Meanwhile...

Up to 27 completed transfers so far in the Premiership, with one team making 6 of those.

None for City completed. None for Arsenal, One for Newcastle, Two for Chelsea, one for Spurs.

Yeah, still nothing to worry about despite the histrionics on here.

Weirdly the Rabiot one feels like a bit of a blow. He might've been chasing the bag but if it enabled us to replace McTominay and/or Fred without too much hassle, it still might've been worth pursuing more seriously. I have trouble believing we'll sign two midfielders before the end of the window now Rabiot's off the market.

City announced Kovacic an hour or so ago.

It’s still early everyone…

Our window should just open 6 weeks later than everyone else’s.

Man Utd has the most revenues amount EPL clubs. No idea why they are quiet on transfer. They need a striker, a goalkeeper and a CM the very least.

You all worry too much. Once we get splattered by Wolves and Spurs we will do some transfers. Like Mount for a 100 million, for example.

June 29th & a player who plays in the same position as our best player.

I don’t particularly have much faith in any of those in charge but get a grip, this is not the player to lose your crap over.

Again, it’s June. We will sign players. We’ve signed as many players as your lot have ffs!

The club has been ran terribly but this constant negative narrative is tedious.

Is this the dullest summer yet? Everything is in limbo. Not even the rumours are exciting
The club sale (or lack of any news thereof) is surely putting dampener on any other United related news. We are just a bunch of depressed people out here...

The 1951/52 summer was far more boring than this. People here really have short memories and it shows.

I have read numerous times that the sale doesn’t impact what we can do right now, we have a limited budget that can be added to with player sales. What is actually happening is what always happens…dithering with a large dose of ineptitude.

What bothers me mostly is going into every season knowing we are not going to seriously challenge for league or Europe and more likely have a struggle for top 4. No excitement really just dulled expectations.

A big game will be talked as usual before the season starts but we’ll see the same inconsistency from the same inconsistent players as well as the same low ability level shown by players in our squad who are clearly not good enough! If we don’t get a midfielder who can defend like Casemiro and a goal scorer who can get us an extra 20 goals a season I doubt we finish higher than 5th next season.

EtH must be frustrated as he knows he can’t win the major trophies without signing some of the best players in the world which we unfortunately cannot afford or attract. Maybe next summer will be different with hopefully an owner who is willing to get us back to the top with money and staff in place who know what they are doing.

Don't think a striker is happening this summer. We'll have to hope that Rashford has another good spell and Martial remains injury free for at least a few weeks and can grab a handful of goals.

Possibly Mount and a replacement Keeper if we manage to push De Gea out will be our lot I think.
