I think it's a negotiations tactic and I believe Onana will be signed. Sky Italia with Di Marizio are good for Serie A news and only a few days ago Di Marzio was interviewing the Inter Milan CEO.

Didn't they say this the other day?

Tbh we shouldn't be paying anything close to €60m for a keeper, they are never worth that much bar a very few exceptions.

I think Van der Kraan has possibly been asked to say stuff like the below by ten Hag.

If he’s 45m and we want Hojlund aswell for like 40m then we’d of spent 140m including 55m for Mount. If we only have 120m in transfer budget then we only need to make 20m from sales.

Especially for a nutter like Onana. He was abysmal after he came back from his doping suspension, acted like a complete clown during his move away from Ajax (who stuck with him and defended him throughout his doping affair) and has also fallen out with his national team. He's a great keeper when he's feeling it and not busy being suspended for taking PEDs or peeing in a cup, but that's a bit of a risk for such a fee.

Though before everyone jumps on my head for this, getting Bijlow is equally silly, since he's injured every other week and hasn't played a minute on the highest level (well two games with the national team in the final 4 of the nation's league I gues).

This will be like Mount where it’ll be all done and dusted this time next week, then we can move onto a striker quickly and then we’d be good to go with pre-season.

Take Mount, Onana and new striker out on the pre-season tour and it’s all nicely prepared for the season.

Any potential new centre mid or new centre back can be tied up at any point between the end of the window.

Don't suppose you know of a good middle option between the two? Maybe stick it in an email to the club...

If we could sell players, but that seems so difficult right now due to the stupidly high wages we pay our average players, no club wants to touch them.

If mounts wages are true 250-300k per week it looks like we haven’t learnt our lesson either. I can’t wait for these owners and the rest of them Murtagh, Arnold to f right off.

Did Onana have crap performances post drug testing because
  • he stopped using performance enhancing drugs
  • Or he just lost match fitness?

Nah, he just wanted to leave the club. I'm quite sure Onana doesn't need drugs to be great (because when he's up for it he is), he's just a bit mental.

Well, since Ten Hag only wants either Ajax or Dutch options, maybe Mark Flekken?

No idea honestly, goalkeepers are such a boring position.

Ye I agree. I thought ETH was meant to bring in a wage cap. Read something like that last season. The whole league in general need to put a wage Cap on players. That’s why people from other European leagues who are on like 10-15k a week love coming over here.

Okay that’s good - if you think he’s good that’s a great option.

We are like that person who goes into an expensive clothes shop, looks and monitors extensively what’s on offer and then fecks off to Primark to buy a pair of jeans and a t-shirt for £12.

It is, but I actually think a GK who can play out from the back would make a big difference to our current style.

Flekken's just joined Brentford...I guess we could go for Raya if they drop their asking price a bit. Not overly impressed with his shot stopping though.

Hope it's more of this

The major thing in Mount's sale is that it was the last year of his contract and he didn't want to extend so Chelsea were compelled to sell him.

With Inter its not the same situation, they aren't stressed and they can negotiate with us as long as they need to get a good deal for themselves.

Either they want to sell him for the amount we have offered or not. I suppose the idea of moving on to other targets does have some value as it tells them we are actually serious when we say "final offer". Otherwise they might be thinking "that's an acceptable offer but we can always get an extra few million out of them."

Wow.. This is not an encouraging review. Just like your previous reviewed on Malacia, which is spot-on so far.

Starting to think we genuinely don't have any money. Plus we are struggling to shift players who could actually bring cash in.
If you believe that then the PR is working. The financials show we do but we’ve repeatedly heard already this summer that United won’t pay the ‘United tax’ on transfers.

We get ridiculed every year for over spending, it seems they’re trying to rectify that moving forward.

Malacia was a great buy?
It depends on what your definition of "great". Malacia's transfer thread is closed, but a bit of quick research:

  1. Tyrell Malacia | Romano: Here we go…
Malaciais not currently good enough to start for United. He may or may not be in the future, but definitely not now. As much as I love the dude.

Nice to see someone other than me loving Malacia. He's such a brilliant lad. Not sure he's as good as you think though. He is improving greatly over the last two seasons, but has had some very questionable performances as well this season. That's not something he can do at United. You are...

Well, he is saying he's a great keeper when he's feeling it and that has been the case with Inter. It looks to me like he has matured in Italy.

You guys still believing this Italian press overpricing?

We aren’t bidding for now and we sure aren’t bidding the €50m they are expecting.

Wasn’t they the other day telling the world Brosovic was leaving for €25m then that getting dropped by €10m.

The club need money fast and probably see us as a meal ticket.

He's only spent one season with Inter. But hopefully you're right, if we do get him.

For 15 million he was. He played Shaw out of the starting lineup, then Shaw improved. Worth every million and then some.
Yeah I think he's fine as a backup LB. He had some bad performances, but also plenty of good ones.

I doubt he'll ever be as good as Shaw, but I think he's a fine deputy who's still good enough to keep Shaw honest.

Not quite, they need the money. They’ve also let their best midfielder go to Saudi for quite a cheap fee.
