That would be just stupid. A player we don’t really need, who is a free agent in 1y, for the biggest transfer fee ever. When we have so many other shortcomings in the squad.
Perez would have probably kept the money aside from last summers bid.

He's not going to open the new Bernabéu with Joselu, no matter how much need we have for full-backs.

But seriously Carvajal, what is the need other than Florentino wanted his superstar? Uou guys have Vinicius Jr playing at world class level on the left which is the side Mbappé prefers. Are you seriously going to either force Mbappé to play out and out striker or move Vinicius to another position?
Harry Kane at half the price seems to me still a more prudent choice.

In fairness, the two biggest clubs in the world have the second and third best left wingers in the world as their star players, so will be interesting to see where Mbappe goes, and if he displaces Rashford or Vinicius, or is moved to a central striker role....?

There is no other, he is an egomaniac who wants to put the icing on the cake. He wants to say goodbye in style and show that sooner or later the club will get what they want.
Then, although Kane is very good...and sticking purely to the sporting side of things, if you could choose for United, would you sign Kane ahead of Mbappe?
He's cheaper but he's still very expensive for his age, both in transfer and salary, and the club is perhaps influenced by the bad experience with Hazard.
It's true about the position, we'll see how they fix it but if we're looking for a 9 that doesn't disrupt other positions I can only think of Kane, Haaland and maybe Julián Álvarez.

Getting someone out of City is mission impossible as we know unless they want them out.

Regarding Mbappé and Kane, it's clear the former can offer far more potential and years of service. But I just think that now that Vinicius starts being in the Ballon d'Or conversation, it's strange to bring in someone who is a small step above him right now.

But like you say, Florentino is probably looking to go out with a bang. New Bernabeu, Vinicius, Bellingham and Mbappé in the squad with a manageable debt. He'll never get his Superleague though unless he pitches in with the Saudis.

If Florentino really pays that kind of money he must really trust in the alleged new income of the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Bernabeu income sounds promising but so far I have seen some Madrid related accounts suggest one important player might be leaving the club this summer to balance the accounts.

That has been the rumours for quite some time.
Ibai said, after talking with Vinicius, that as a madridista he felt happy and sad at the same time regarding future movements.

I guess Valverde would be the main choice. But it could be Rodrygo or even Vini if he became tired of the racist fans. It's sad indeed.

It's not exactly a bold prediction from these pretend 'in the knows', to say Mbappe is going to Real Madrid. Then if he does they will act like they are geniuses. Every man and his dog is predicting he will go to Madrid.

Everybody assumes Mbappe is going to RM, but I've a feeling people will be surprised, if not shocked at his next move.
He might be rewarded extremely well for staying put at PSG for another season and refusing to sign an extension, or new contract.
Is his next move already pre-determined?

It’s assumed that‘s his only possible move, but I have a feeling it won’t be RM, unless they come in this summer with an offer.
If he sits it out until next summer, realistically, there’s only 3 likely options, unless the Saudi’s offer a mind blowing deal.

If he’s ambitious and wants to win the UCL, maybe multiple UCL‘s, then the 2 clubs with the greatest opportunity are RM and City.
Both those clubs are making changes to their squads this window.
RM may have the name, the prestige, but are rebuilding as older established players leave the room; it could be a few years before they’re back in contention.
City don’t have the history, but they are on a determined course to create their own prestige. To establish themselves as a football superpower, both on and off the pitch.
City are also strengthening their squad while they’re at the top of the tree. They’re phasing out some key players who are in their prime, before they start to decline. They could end up rejuvenating, or strengthening every department this summer, meaning the decks are cleared for a big signing next year, with no huge transfer fee and keeping within FFP on wages etc.
It may seem fanciful, but it’s worth thinking about.

City already has Haaland, will they go for another superstar? And how would they work together?

Why not their city rival though? Erik ten Hag had a promising first season, this could take them that next step, new rich owners on their way, should go all in for him.

Guardiola has already been quoted in media that everyone knows mbappe's next move i.e. madrid. Its as certain as certain gets.

Question is whether its this summer or next?

What are they going to do?
It should be what is he going to do?

Surely they are going to throw whatever money he asks for at him.

He just needs to leave that shitshow behind and move on to a new chapter in his career, head over to Madrid and win the CL 3 or 4 times before he hangs up his boots.

I'm going to make a bit of prediction....I have a feeling Real Madrid will go for him later this month.

I think they'll need to make a sale first though....enter Manchester Utd. God willing, the takeover is done by then, and with sales made...I can see us making a bid for Tchouaméni.

IF (and I stress on this) were to happen, I think, along with the probable Mount (already done)/Onana/Hojlund signings....we go from a solid transfer window to a very good one.

I don't see Mbappe signing a new deal this time to be honest so looks like he will be at Madrid by the time the season kicks off.

Bit of an odd reference when the player in question is 24.

Before we gave Mount the 7 I was adamant we'd sign him. Now I'm totally adamant we won't. Not a chance now.

Oh you of little faith! Embrace your inner muppet ;)

( I agree with you though, unlikely but this is just my long shot at the 'dark horse' for this transfer window)
