Despite people constantly complaining about how shit we are at doing transfer business and us only signing players late in the window and panic buying, that’s another two key players signed before the tour.
Also, both signings have reportedly been ETH’s primary targets for those positions.

Romano is, for the most part, a hack. Most of his “breaking news” tweets come after a story has broken elsewhere yet people hang on his every word.

He’ll even quote tweet a club announcement and somehow people will post his tweet as if he’s the one delivering the news.

He plays the same “throw enough shit at the wall” game the other journos do.

9:51pm - Romano: "United and Inter going to be working through the night."
10:03pm - Pedulla: "Actually, the deal is done"
10:09pm - Romano: "Oh, yeah, that's what I meant. Deal is done. Here we go."

With the details coming out, it looks like this signing may be FFP neutral for us!

With De Gea on 375k a week, and Onana on 120k (being reported), that’s a saving of 250k a week. That’s 13 million saved over 52 weeks. His fee will get amortised over 4 years of his contract, so that’s 12 million a year if the add ons are paid. So we are net 1 million better off!

Well done to the transfer team.

Things you can do with competent people in charge instead of Ed Woodwood

Onana, look what you just started.
Onana, why you gotta act so naughty?
Onana, I'm about to spend all this cash.
Onana, if you keep making that pass.

Despite the constant whingeing on here…the transfer team are showing a bit of restraint and control this summer.

Good to see another deal coming to a close.

2nd signing even before our 2nd preseason match? What's going on!!

I think this new team under murtough is doing a good job considering the circumstances. They got sibtizer like within a 48hrs period. Buying players at reasonable prices etc.
And more importantly supporting the manager by getting players that fit his profiles

A good financial deal, I think. As with any deal it depends on performance much more than theory. But on paper you have to be happy with getting a recent CL finalist keeper that's established, proven and coming into his prime for this figure in today's market. It's not so bad at all.

£43m to £48m is decent business for last CL season's best keeper.

Ignoring obviously that we could have picked him up for free a year ago.

Much more excited about this than Mount. Onana will help us to beat the press open up spaces for the forwards.
But that being said, two more technically excellent footballers added to the squad.
Still need more though, and the ownership situation won’t help.

I liked some other poster's proposal, it's on tune of Joanna give me hope from Eddy Grant

Give me hope
Onana give hope!
Give me hope
Before the morning comes

We could change morning to corner or something. Would be best to sing it during penalty shoot outs, he could give us hope to win the shoot outs ya know

Because I follow so many of the legit sources from where Romano actually picks up his information, the amount of times I've seen this sort of scenario play out this summer is astounding. Across leagues, clubs, and transfers. One thing has been consistent is Romano reading tweets and Here We Go ing! Got to respect the rich man's Indy Kalia.

Absolutely delighted. Aside from a playmaker (there aren’t many) this is the most exciting type of signing for me personally that we could possibly make. To truly become a modern front foot team you need to be able to play high quality possession play - and having a keeper like DG basically was like being a man down / having an 80s CB in the back 5 in the buildup as compared to the likes of City, Arsenal etc.

I don’t think we should expect this to be instantly transformative as he isnt walking into a top team that already controls games excellently (City back when they replaced Hart and signed their GK), but it’s one of those important moves that signals a shift in how the team will play and how we train to play.
