Apparently, when he was in Molde, (DM run that story so it is maybe complete BS and sounds like it) we fecked up with time zones.
From DM article:
Haaland's agent Jim Solbakken had agreed to take a call from a representative of the English giants at 9am in mid-August to finalise the cut-price deal, which would have also included performance-related add-ons, the report claims.
However, Molde believed that United would ring at 9am Norwegian time (8am English time) rather than 9am Norwegian time, while Salzburg phoned at the correct time and tied up the transfer.
That is not too hard to manage honestly. It is harder to believe a transfer hinges on one phone call in the internet age.

I think would have still taken the deal, at least we have actually got a good deal of money on a sale for once instead of the usual garbage we make on players or worse we have to pay them to leave for free
What about if City or Liverpool had activated the release clause? Nightmare scenario.

So they had two calls scheudled for the same time? Did they not have a phone number to call? Nice story and that but i call BS

Can't be any worse than tevez going to city and helping kick start their rise to the top, it would not have been great but getting 50 million to reinvest in a striker is not bad considering the other path has been wasting money on cavani who left for nothing, ighalo on loan for a fee, relying on a injury prone and inconsistent martial buying ronaldo for a fee of close to 30 million and then having to pay him to leave for free due to stinking up the place both on and off the field and having to sit through the nightmare of weghorst in a united shirt who we paid a loan fee for of around 3-5 million.

It would be considerably worse than Tevez

Tevez was different, he was a mercenary through and through and wasn't even a guaranteed starter at United. And City weren't great then, it was pre-Pep. Certainly stung, but they were still the 'noisey neighbours'. I don't think his impact was actually that great, it's just over examined because he left United and the hole billboard thing. He kept fecking off back to Argentina during crucial moments of the season.

If Haaland left United for City for £50m, which wouldn't even buy one of Kane's legs, and then spurred them to the treble, you'd feel a lot differently about that deal.

I think we may have actually had a chance to win a title had haaland been at our club where as city winning is inevitable with or without haaland at this point so it would not have been as devastating to see city win trophies with haaland than it was to see win the league for the first time with tevez

I doubt that story is true. Why would they eliminate the possibility of United potentially paying more over a simple mix-up

How come, that funny story says Molde believed United would call at 9 am Norwegian time rather than 9 am Norwegian time.
Also strucking a deal over the phone like its 1960 is funny.
They rang at 9am GMT time. The whole story is weird. It would be a very incompetent thing to do to dismiss a potentially larger contract, with a larger sign on bonus, just because there was a misunderstanding about the time of a phone conference meeting.

Anyway this is a Hojlund thread.
This seems like an apt time to remind Man Utd execs that Italy is in the same time zone as Norway.

Back to hojlund, it's inevitable we will buy him this summer, ten hag seems to only have eyes on him, I just hope we don't make the same silly mistake as we did last season with haggling with ajax for Antony

Its a BS story if I ever saw one. It's not even imaginitive.

They wouldn't, it's complete bollocks. It's far more likely that United just didn't follow through with their interest, for whatever reason.

Yes, imagine us having a world class striker for a few years and then making a profit when selling him, the horror.
Yep absolutely disastrous planning by us back then to not get him from Molde,ah well time to look to the future and get behind this guy who has potential to be special with the right coaching

Hopefully this window transfers are old owners transfers.
We'll start fresh again with a fresh kitty under the new owners.

70 million euros is a lot and I rather hope that won't be the case. It would make him this windows Antony. A player we clearly overpay for, primarily to placate the managers idea.

But it's still preferable to pontificating all window, and ending up with a placeholder at the end of it because we didn't act.

I'd rather spend 70 million euros, get this guy out on tour and settled and playing in his new surroundings than arsing around all window. I think that's important.

He’s a 20 year old with 44 goals to his name
We're counting u19 goals too now? I have nothing against the boy, I see a lot that I like, but that's a steep price tag given his goal contributions last season.

If a player prefers to play for a lesser rival over us then they were never the right player in the first place

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
That is a lot of money for a 20 year old with 9 league goals.
It’s crazy imo. I’m really surprised how swept up in it people have got.

I just wonder if Toney or Watkins spent a season at a Serie A side, what would their highlights and numbers look like…?

BUT, he does look good. You can see there’s potentially a beast of a striker there, but he’s literally done nothing, and the PL, and Utd especially, IS a beast. A real beast.

I just can’t get past the cynical feeling with this one.

His actual stats for last season are 2177 mins played 16 goals and 2 assists for club and country that's the equivelant of 24 games played not exactly poor.
Correct.

People keep churning out 9 league goals as though he played the full season and the whole 90 minutes for them.
