The end of the bore fest United. From keeping the line to playing in midfield GK. Exciting!

Happy to have found a replacement to De Gea. Like any new signing though he is going to be obliterated on here.

I personally think he will smash it for us.

You think? I think we’re all mostly optimistic about the change and what style of football we’re trying to achieve. I think the place could have been pretty toxic with de gea here for another season, there was only a small handful of people still supporting him come the end of the season.

At least Onana will get a free hit this season.

His passing quote is great. He may learned that accurate passing and pressing during his time at Barcelona, and developed it at Ajax and Inter. I look forward seeing him playing from the back with Martinez and Varane and contributing to the ball possession.

excellent signing....fantastic, athletic keeper with great feet but also an equal shot stopper as DeGea

Can't wait to see him pinging balls out to the wings from midfield

Buzzing for the deal. Think he’s a massive upgrade on de Gea and honestly I think afew de Gea fans will be in for a massive shock about how much of a difference he makes to the side. That being said (yes call me a grump) I hate that he’s number 24. I would much prefer we just give him the number 1.
Even if he himself wants the 24?

Looking forward to him filling that void of absolute batshit crazy that has been lying within me since we stopped playing Bailly.

I hate these stupid stats. Enough to spend 2 mins to have a quick look myself.
TAA played 627 mins
Fabinho - 631 mins
KDB - 721 mins
Stones - 686 mins
Onana - 1170 mins

Onana averaged 35.5 passes / 90 mins (in the CL)
Ederson averaged 27.4 /90 in the league and De Gea averaged 28.5/90 in the league..
So by this stat, De Gea is a better sweeper keeper than Ederson.

feck twitter accounts and the constant spamming of meaningless stats.

What a week it's been. Rashford's contract, new captain, Onana, beat Lyon... All we need is a "Here we go!" with West Ham having a €40m bid for Maguire accepted.
If that happens I'll put a tenner on us winning the treble.

Nice! keeps the no.1 shirt available if Dave can’t find a club and wants to watch United from the dugout for a season.

Win win ;)

I’m really pleased with this signing!

It’s understandable that many are pointing to his skill with the ball at his feet but it’s other attributes that I’m looking forward to seeing. De Gea was never the best at commanding his area, either with crosses or sweeping in behind. He appears to be physical when coming for crosses and takes command of situations.

This kind of leads to a theme I’ve been pushing this year and that’s about character. I’ve said we’ve lacked it in the past but it’s something that Ten was addressing. Murtough even mentioned it in the press release. I think he carries himself similar to dominant keepers of the past. Hopefully his confidence will add to the bond already forming in the back unit.
Exiting times!

Well he is a keeper and those players are outfield players so impressive number of passes even if more minutes.

Came across this suggestion from someone else on Twitter. Pretty funny so passing it on:

If #Man Utd fans do not use ‘Onana what’s my name’ for their chant, that would be an opportunity missed.

It really is quite catchy.

Call me old fashioned, but your number 1 should be your number 1 if the number 1 is available.
There's something very satisfying about GK #1, RB #2, CBs #3, #4, LB #5, DM #6, CM1: #8, CM2# 10, Wingers #7, 11, Forward #9.

Excellent news! We got a keeper who’s not only good with his feet but also is a goods shot stopper, commands his area and isn’t afraid to go for crosses. Basically combines DDG only strength with the areas he missed. I even think he is a better shot stopper than current DDG, and am certain with Onana we would have won the FA Cup.

About the announcement being simple. Well I prefer a simple announcement and a performing player, instead of “Pogback” or “piano Sanchez” announcements and underperforming players.

About his number. He has always played with 24, I don’t care if he didn’t pick 1.

Hopefully his wife will manage to hide all Lasix pills from him this time around.
Didn’t get this. Explain please

We aren't Arsenal mate we will probably do something decent.

Way too short to deal with the constant balls into the box we see in his league. A concern.
