woakes is the kind of chap you’d let have a go on your wife because you know he’d send you a thank you hamper afterwards.

If Smith's catch was good, that's fecking good. There's a finger at the back under that.

Root should’ve celebrated that and that would’ve been out.

That looks considerably more out than any of the other contentious decisions all summer.

I don’t think you can give that. Didn’t think Smith’s catch was out either for reference.

That’s an example where the catcher doesn’t always know if he truly caught it or not.

Terrific over from woakes. That out swing is from very good lengths

There is when there clearly won’t be time to chase down any target and take 10 wickets.
It's a must win game, you give yourself the best possible chance to take 10 wickets first and deal with the target later.

The only thing a 270 lead has ensured is that England won't lose the match. Ensuring you don't lose is not how you approach a must win game.

Review shouldn’t be lost there. That’s another decision the umpires have given the Aussies. The umpiring in this test has been awful, worst I remember in a long time.

I think the uneven bounce probably changed England’s approach. The Aussies are in a bit of no man’s land here. If they try to defend for the better part of two days then they need to be mistake free, which on a pitch showing uneven bounce seems unlikely. They need a lead here so can’t just plod along as I don’t seem them lasting until the end for the draw.

This. I'm baffled people aren't grapsing the fact that taking 10 wickets is your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th priority. You deal with the runs once you take those wickets.

Have to disagree. This is the best approach to win the match.

I’m baffled why people think the Aussies can last 2 days batting on this pitch, technically 2 1/2 ish but time will be lost to weather

Dude look at the forecast, chances are there won't be much play (if any) after today. Then you're left with 150 excessive runs and 2 hours of batting that should've been spent on taking wickets.

Marnus Labuschagne has looked a bit shit all series. I missed the first innings here but he looks a way off from last year's form

Am I the only person who likes the guy with the trumpet
I don’t mind it, I was next to him at one of the women’s games, but he moves around the ground. He gets the crowd going a bit. Saw a video about him the other day, he’s played with loads of famous musicians so not just a part timer. I always wondered how he can take so much time off work.

The trumpet sounds alright on TV. The only time I couldn't stand these things were the vuvuzelas at the South African football world cup

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudhir_Kumar_Chaudhary is basically a "full time fan" subsidized by fans/BCCI

My iPhone thinks Sunday will be ok, Met office now looking like total washout. Just put more money on the draw seeing as the bookies still have it at over evens.
