If you want to win the lot in the modern times you either need ridiculous luck or a big squad, or both.Depth is so overrated. Outside of Guardiola, all other managers play the same XI week-in week-out where possible.

They won't even get top 4.Liverpool are now 2nd favourites for the title. This is awful news
I mean, Pep has won 5 out of the last 6 titles, so it does seem to work.
It's mostly about prioritising. Klopp isn't going to go gung-ho in the EL at the cost of the league. If you want to win the lot in the modern times you either need ridiculous luck or a big squad, or both.
He actually doesn't keep that big of a squad but his ability to utilize same players effectively in different roles gives illusion of squad being bigger than it actually is .It's mostly about prioritising. Klopp isn't going to go gung-ho in the EL at the cost of the league.
Liverpool's focus next season is going to be on the league games, where his key players will almost exclusively play. Then he'll see how far the luck of the draw and his peripheral players take him in the cup competitions, before he has to start playing his key players in the late knockout games then.
On top of that, Guardiola is the only manager around who's actually capable of managing a big squad. The rest of them fail miserably and end up with unhappy players on the bench.
Agreed. It's actually quite a compact squad, but the players are utilised effectively. You'll seldom see a first team player ride the bench all season (Phillips is an exception). Even the likes of Fabian Delph managed to play a key role in his team.He actually doesn't keep that big of a squad but his ability to utilize same players effectively in different roles gives illusion of squad being bigger than it actually is .
This is all with the assumption that one of them get injured. Szoboszlai has already had one major injury in his career, though I don't think MacAllister and Caicedo have, but that does not mean one or more of them could be out for an extended period and then you're having a big drop off in quality (assuming Thiago is also injured). It's mostly about prioritising. Then he'll see how far the luck of the draw and his peripheral players take him in the cup competitions, before he has to start playing his key players in the late knockout games then. For example, Salah played 2 FA cup games and 1 League Cup game the year Liverpool won the two trophies.

Some managers, too. Klopp when Pogba signed for United from Juve:Some fans are overly obsessed with what other clubs do rather than looking at what their own club is trying to build.
The fact that he now (will have) has the most expensive midfielder, one of the most expensive centre backs, the second most expensive goalie, and one of the most expensive strikers in the PL is a little damning for Klopp and his **** followers. Apparantly, he's this managerial wizard that never spends money and is still able to compete with the oil clubs. Well, it's hard to argue his case when it comes to that any longer.
Klopp likes to imagine himself as some plucky underdog who goes up against the big guns and succeeds in the face of all the odds, which is also a narrative Liverpool fans live by in their day to day lives. It’s a shame it completely falls down when you present some pretty basic facts.Sharing the Klopp quotes with liverpool fans has been such a satisfying use of my time this morning. The typical bitter reaction has ensued after
Still does it today after achieving the CL and PL. It's a really baffling attribute of his, and it rubs off on the fanbase. I have 3 Scouse mates and they all speak the same way as him, as if the world is against them all the time.Klopp likes to imagine himself as some plucky underdog who goes up against the big guns and succeeds in the face of all the odds, which is also a narrative Liverpool fans live by in their day to day lives. Tbf he's not excusing it. He's held his hand up and admitted he was wrong back then. Plus this transfer shows that the failure to get Bellingham was never about the transfer money. He just didn't want to go there and play in EL.The fact that he now (will have) has the most expensive midfielder, one of the most expensive centre backs, the second most expensive goalie, and one of the most expensive strikers in the PL is a little damning for Klopp and his **** followers. Also, he will have some sort of silly excuse to why that quote no longer applies.

Yeah it’s not surprise Klopp and Liverpool found each other, he couldn’t manage a top team that expects to win everything all the time, he couldn’t handle the pressure, we’ve seen how he reacts when people question him.Still does it today after achieving the CL and PL. It's a really baffling attribute of his, and it rubs off on the fanbase. I have 3 Scouse mates and they all speak the same way as him, as if the world is against them all the time.
I wish that transfer never happened. They’ve lived off that deal for the entire time Klopp has been at Pool. They use it to paper over every single summer."oh oh oh that was 7 years ago"
Weird how Klopp has spunked £850m on players. That Coutinho Net Spend argument gets inflated every year to the point where his fee was probably £400m
This is almost word for word the response I got from someone!"oh oh oh that was 7 years ago"

Yeah, but that is net spend in Scouse terms, so it’s actually much more. This is almost word for word the response I got from someone!
Another responded that ETH has spent more already than Klopp in his entire tenure. The delusion is strong.
In Liverpool's defence, they still have about £100m left of the Coutinho money to spend...
Do you have a quote?Tbf he's not excusing it. He's held his hand up and admitted he was wrong back then. Plus this transfer shows that the failure to get Bellingham was never about the transfer money. He just didn't want to go there and play in EL.
And that was the correction they had to make straight after. I feel like you lot are reading my whatsapp messages . That, or this is the standard liverpool fan response.Yeah, but that is net spend in Scouse terms, so it’s actually much more.
You shouldn't be planning for major injuries. They happen and you have to deal with them as and when they do. Suspensions and minor injuries sure, you need players capable of dropping in for a few weeks and to also rest players in peripheral competitions but Liverpool have that in the form of Elliot and Bajcetic. This is all with the assumption that one of them get injured. Szoboszlai has already had one major injury in his career, though I don't think MacAllister and Caicedo have, but that does not mean one or more of them could be out for an extended period and then you're having a big drop off in quality (assuming Thiago is also injured).
It's ofcourse not easy having to manage multiple star players, but that isn't what's required. You can have decent players to fill the bench and be reliable, for us Fred would be a great player to have on the bench, similarly someone like Sabitzer.
Op don’t gone and fecked up If they sign Caicedo they’d have arguably done better business than us altogether this window. They lucked out with the Saudis taking Fabinho and Henderson though.
How. Many. Times?!This thread needs deleting.
Very much...a messWill be a great signing but a messy transfer pursuit for a DM. Spent ages counting pennies for Lavia only to fork out a huge late bid for Caidedo. It will probably work out for them but still a bit of a mess...of sorts
Exactly. When you factor in Liverpool's desperation following this public humiliation, Saints should be considering lumping an additional 50% on their original asking price when the scousers come crawling back.Wow they’ve completely fecked it all up haven’t they
Southampton must be delighted. They’ll come running back with their tail between their legs I hope they are now asking for 60m minimum knowing Liverpool have a 111m kitty
they wanted amrabat ?First it was Mount, then Amrabat and now Caicedo. Snubbed 3 times in the same window, ouch!!
The smugness from the fanbase saying 48m was their evaluation of the player and they’ve now moved on . How can they go back now at 48m?Wow they’ve completely fecked it all up haven’t they
Southampton must be delighted. They’ll come running back with their tail between their legs I hope they are now asking for 60m minimum knowing Liverpool have a 111m kitty
They were linked with him previously but there were reports going round a few weeks ago saying he snubbed them and only wants to join us after it became known ETH wanted him. Whether it’s true or not I’m not sure but I’ll choose to believe it as it makes Liverpool look like mugs! Not that they need any extra help doing that.they wanted amrabat ?
Tbf they’re in a mess right now with Caicedo mugging them offHow. Many. Times?!
Thread was created last season at a point they WERE in a mess!
