If Inter are looking for a striker maybe MG on loan makes sense. Do it for 6 months with a possible extention if all is going well.

I'm not going to go into any of the stuff we can't talk about on here. Sporting wise though I think it'd be a win-win-win, if Inter felt he was a good fit.
I am starting to think the MG announcement is going to be on the day of Wolves game

Could have gotten Mbappe for the same price, at the same time, from the same team. Makes you wonder.
True, but the likelihood is that we'd have ruined him under the constant rotation of managers and under performance. He was better off avoiding the shit show of the last decade here.

I also think it's probable that MG will return, sounds like EtH wants him and the club will spin a redemption arc, lots of pictures of the happy couple with the kid.

He will be our 9 for the start of the season while RH gets fit and MG gets re-integrated.

I think if they aren’t going to play MG then they need to part ex him for another forward, someone would still pay good money for him. Loans and all the other nonsense won’t do us any good. Just cut the chord.

He was untouchable at the time, and Monaco knew what they had. They weren't going to let him go before he played for them and showed his real value.

No way we can sell him unless we sign another striker imo. We massively lack consistent goal threat in this side and, even with Hojlund, we still don't possess a proven out and our number 9. Martial is still the closest we have to this.

Murmurs of Inter's interest in him.

They've been trying to get a striker in and just dropped interest in Balogun due to the price tag.
I don't see Ten Hag preferring a cut rate deal from Inter to a striker he seems to rate who seems happy being a backup, even if he is always hurt and allergic to the 6 yard box.

If you told me a Saudi team offered us 20M and covering all his wages and we were selling him then sure, I could see us loaning in a random striker to save 25M or so (massive wages minus a loan fee and new striker wages) or buying a veteran backup on August 31st, but if Inter are offering say 10M and trying to pay 75% of his wages and we have to cover the rest, which seems more likely, than nah I don't see it.

Martial doesn’t provide “consistent goal threat”, all he provides is consistent medical treatment requirement.

Well I joked months ago, come the first game of the season, we will prob be starting with Glazers still in charge, and feckin Martial still up front.. :(. Im not laughing now

Looks like with Hojlund sitting out for a bit with this back issue, and i read Martial back in training...we're gonna have Tony up front again vs Wolves. Im hoping he has one of his good scoring spells just in time for Hojlund to take over..... (and hopefully attract some interest )

Yeah we are crying out for backup 9,should sell McTominay sign Amrabat but use funds from his sale to get striker

Yep that's our only hope for next few weeks that he can put himself in the shop window

Noone will pay his wages

Happy to be a back up? He's shown his arse any time some competition has been signed. Maybe he's a bit more understanding now given his injuries but I wouldn't be surprised if he still considers himself first choice.

I'm desperate for us to get another striker in so that we can move this guy on. I'm tired of him and tired of hoping that the next season will be the making of him.

Agree but the big question is who. It's a crappy market.
Well either wait until January and pick up Toney or maybe look for someone like Watkins. The other idea is go down the young route and sign Orban/Leonardo/Gimenez

I honestly think you'd see 80m+ price tags on both Toney and Watkins at least. We aren't paying that.

Weirdly, with Hojlund through the door, this is arguably one of the few windows where bringing in a stop-gap older but established striker would have made sense!

Yeah that's the third approach to consider and quite honestly I would take it as well

Can we get Ralf to recommend an Argentine striker to buy again? Martial needs a sea change, somewhere warm, so he can heal and recover his joy for playing...

There are options but we need a taker first

I would genuinely take just about any back up striker on the market at the moment in place of Martial, been wanting to see the back of him for a few years now. Have there been any linked to United? Who could realistically come in?

Are people still talking about this? He's unmovable with his £250k/wk wage. He'll be here until his contract runs out or the club buys him out.

I'd be surprised he starts 15 games across all comps this year.
