Now that I think of it - there hasn't been any concrete links to him at all, has there?
Depends what you mean by concrete. Romano seems pretty sure we’re interested and he wants to come here. God knows where he got the idea but he seems convinced.

Why am I thinking that the only reason we're linked with this guy is because he's born in the Netherlands?
I watch Amrabat with his national team (through a Moroccan friend of mine) and he's definitely someone you would want in your squad. Those Moroccan players are very underrated.

Seems like a very, very obvious player to have in the squad.

And was previously managed by Ten Hag.
Ah, well...there we go, then.
In that case, hugely surprising we haven't got him already.

Is that the only two choices? Be happy with McT or shut the season down?

Some of us, even the optimists, have been looking with concern at the quality and depth of our midfield options for a long time.

I suppose quite a few have joined us in these tepid waters after one somewhat unconvincing performance but it doesn’t make them wrong.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but many of these hot takes will look fairly foolish if the team delivers a strong performances next week and into the future, which I strongly expect they will. Midfield depth may be an issue but I would like to see how it plays out with Mainoo returning from injury. I’m certain amrabat is not the answer and we would be wasting time bringing in another average player on decent wages. There’s a reason why a 26 year old player is still
at a mid table club in Italy. I’d rather give those minutes to Mainoo.

We have tried but cannot sell McT and VDB. We’ve gone the route with loans with other players, but in that scenario we would not be bringing in replacements. Other than foolishly “throwing them in the reserves”, as some have suggested, what do you propose we do?

Unfortunately cleaning up the Woodward mess was going to take a few years. Have some patience and let ten Hag continue his rebuild. One game is not going to define how this season will go.

Forget a new Defensive CM.

What United and Ten Hag are needing is a top CM playmaker.

A CM that control the ball and dictate and set the tempo of the ball and slow it down when need it.

Stanislav Lobotka is the name

The player and man that will bind United defend and attack as a team. And lift United players ball skills and ability.

Stanislav Lobotka has so high confidence....that he try to reach the level of Iniesta. The master of small and close area ability. Beside being a cm pitbull.

One game has got nothing to do with it, you’re right there.

I disagree with you about Amrabat, I didn’t analyse his stats or try to work out why he’s not already at a mega club, I just watched him play and liked what I saw. However, it doesn’t matter who I like, it only matters who we end up buying.

I wouldn’t send McT, Donny, Bailly, Maguire to the reserves as punishments (I don’t think they’ve done anything wrong). I would let them compete with everyone else for starts / minutes / match squad selection. They are nowhere close to being good enough for a club with ambition to win but they are here and we have no choice but to use them when circumstances dictate. The sooner they leave and we recruit better players the happier I’ll be (and who gives a shit about that? - just me, and my wife, probably).

who do you feckin think ?
i'm really starting to doubt if there was ever anything to the stories of this lad coming to Utd, it could be all just his agent trying to whip up a frenzy. Milinkovic-Savic vibes here in terms of the rumour mill.

I try to reach the level of Iniesta myself. Progress is slow.

I never noticed him before but if I’m going on that video, I don’t think he’s quite what we need just now.

Well it was always subject to sales of our unwanted players. Donny and McT are impossible to get rid of so it remains a pipe dream for now.

McT is wanted.

It's Bailly, VdB, Henderson and Maguire who are unwanted and we're actively shopping about.

possibly, any player whose ever played for ETH seemingly gets connected with us at some point, although this one i think has some substance to it.

Are you sure about that? Romano (praise the gods) says we want to sell two MFs (!) not sure if that includes the Brazilian MF we already sold or if two more MFs need to GTF out.

hopefully we just need to move on fred/donny to afford amrabat, and not having to include mctominay since that has gone quiet.

He’s better than Amrabat and has good close control. But his weaknesses were shown near the end of the season where teams just swarmed him

He looks a little bit shit in that video. But that’s probably not his best work.

For me he is head and shoulders above Mason Mount and seemingly half the price. To not go for Amrabat because we have to organise finances and get bodies out the door madness when he should have been targeted above the very expensive Mount.

United will end up buying S Amrabat, they’ll keep S Mctominay and Hanibal Mejbri and our transfers for this summer will be done maybe a striker or loan but I doubt it.

Midfield Options of ; Casemiero,
S Amrabat, Bruno, S Mctominay, M Mount,
C Ericsen, K Mainoo and Hanibal
is more than enough to cover injuries and suspensions. I have a feeling we’ll see Mount or Bruno start wide right or wide left in a lot of games as ETH does not normally like to stretch the pitch like Pep but he’s uses a narrow width formation where his teams like to close the opposition space.
8 players for 3 positions is too many in my opinion. Mainoo and Hannibal will be wasted.

I think Hannibal will go on loan. Word is he is highly rated but they don’t want to interrupt his development by keeping him here where he won’t get enough minutes. He is coming along nicely and just needs another season of regular football, I surmise.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
Until this guy does a Kim Min Jae and signs for someone else. Meanwhile, what's stopping us from snapping up Verratti? I hear he's been made available. Might be injury prone these days, but surely that's the level of quality we need in that midfield.
As well as the regular injury problems, he's coming off a fairly poor season and there's serious question marks over his professionalism. It seems like a red flag that he's only being linked to a Saudi move given that he's still relatively young and most of the top clubs would have been all over him only a few years ago if he was available. All that said, I'd probably fecking cry with happiness if we unexpectedly signed him :D. Wonderful player at his best, and just the sort of controlling, press-resistant midfielder we've lacked for an eternity now.

Maguire and McTominay blocking moves for Amrabat/Pavard. Not surprised if this is true, we are slower than tectonic plates moving.

Would be annoying but much rather they get him rather than Caicedo or Lavia. He clearly wants to join us so it will be like Liverpool getting our rejects

Last hope of adding some more steel to our midfield is gone if he goes there. Double jeopardy as they desperately need his qualities.

Could also be talk to spur us into action. E.g. if we're going to bid for him, get the feck on with it.

Seems like we are not going for him because we rejected the 30M bid for McTominay. Similar for Pavard since we didnt pay Maguire off.

I called it, I knew us failing to sell Mctominay will feck us up in the market. I had a feeling Fabrizio was bullshitting with the Amrabat in for Fred stuff, just didnt make sense.
