We need his tenacity in midfield. About time we start sending people flying with tackles again.

Yes, last thing we need is more martial wannabes with attitude issues.
If we had signed Gravenberch and Pool signed Amrabat this place would go up in arms saying ETH has brought another of his cronies here. Just cannot win here.

When did Nunes become a world class player? I never heard anybody linked to him and the first time his name has been mentioned on here is when City showed interest. The reaction is largely how Pep should be trusted because he did similar things with the likes of Aké and Akanji. Lavia had one decent season as a young prospect and when has Szoboszlai been the envy of world elite before we heard Liverpool bought him? Bayern had Gravenberch for a year now and just don't want him. They're happy to swap him for Palhinha for goodness sake. It wouldn't surprised me if any of these players turned out great successes but you can't argue they arrive as establish game raisers for an elite team. We probably should stop over relying on individuals to raise our level single handedly anyway because we tried that so many times and look at the likes of Liverpool who bought the likes of Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Mane and Firmino who were nothing but solid "Europa League" performers before they joined and developed with them.

Some of us wanted him here before he left Sporting.

This is one of the main reasons I want this deal to happen. This dude really want to play for us. I think he will become a fan favorite by the end of the season.

I'd imagine it's fairly explainable why he's willing to wait. We're by far the biggest club in for him, that will offer him the most money. Pretty simple sporting and financial decision. If there were half a dozen big clubs in the mix then obviously his and our strategy would have been different.
I daresay it is because of Ten Hag as well. Liverpool was in for him, Barça too at a different time.

How does that make him a household name that elite teams see as someone that will raise their level? How many teams were after him during his time at Wolves and how highly rated was/is he?
We were linked to him before he went to Wolves. Our resident Sporting poster here reckoned that he would have brought the United team to another level. Read the thread.
I would have preferred him to Mount.

That’s all nice and everything but he better be good enough for the team and not another dud.
He’ll have to prove he is good enough like any other player. But from all accounts it seems like he’s someone who would bleed for the shirt. Isn’t that something we have often lamented as being missing? It’s more than just ‘nice’ imo - mentality is or at least should be a very important part of who we sign.

Fred used to give it his all everytime he was on the pitch but he wasnt good enough. That’s my point. We need both mentality and ability - and at this point we need someone who isn’t an experiment.

If Casemiro continues to play like he was recently, Amrabat might even bench him, not play alongside him.
Casemiro cannot play every game. This signing adds greater depth to midfield. He’s a cracking player too. Desperate to be a red and pretty good value too so all in all looks a great bit of biz if we can get over the line.

Correct but how do you define an ‘experiment’? My point is that knowing he has one side right is half the battle won. Let’s see on the ability part if and when he joins.

That's not how this forum works. Everything we do is rubbish, brainless, stupid and moronic. Everything our rivals do is genius.

Waiting until deadline day to sell one of your best Youth prospects and replacing him with a left-field option from a struggling team for £50m? Genius.

Allowing your two most experienced midfield players to leave and signing a largely unknown, ageing Japanese midfielder from the Bundesliga for £1.5m? Genius.

Spending £65m on a player you arguably don't need who has largely struggled for a rival team since arriving in the Premier League? Genius.

Spending £1BN in 18-months on an army of players and arguably ending up with a side who are still going to end-up in a dogfight for top four? Genius.

All the talk will be about us loaning a LB from Spurs for an absolutely minimal outlay...as if we were somehow supposed to foresee injuries to both our senior, natural LBs. People will fall for it, hook, line and sinker.

The actual truth is, only time will tell...but most of you just want something to be angry about and get suckered in by clickbait TalkSport nonsense. Plus, the simple fact is, United loaning a LB is a bigger story that will generate far more "engagements" than City signing a player for £50m. That's why they whip the fans into a frenzy. Desperate for clicks. Desperate for morons to rant on the radio. Desperate for views and listens.

Is this guy any good? Watching complications of a DM / box to box probably doesn't tell me much. I know he had a good world cup but no big team is interested in him?
Was there any big team interested in Akanji, Ake and Nunes?

Perhaps irrational but I'd still do it. He really isn't the character you want around the club, a senior player who has no ambition and an entitled attitude.

I'm not buying the FFP line either, you can work around it and even if you don't. The punishment for minor breaches is small.

I'm just sick of this club, the way it is run seriously impacts my mental health.
Football is a sport. Get out and play it and stop worrying about things you have no control over

Fk it. If he comes then I'll go finally go to see another game to see him play and he's definitely worth my first genuine tshirt in 20 years with his name on it.

Really don't understand what is the holdup. It seems it really hurt us that Maguire and VDB have not been sold yet. Fingers crossed we could sell McT to Fulham today and get Amrabat as a replacement. Would really love to see him here. He was great at WC and really wants to play for United. Get him in.

Amrabat is a former EtH player, too, so he'll get that complaint either way.

Isn't the window already shut now? Can we still get this done because I assume the paperwork obviously won't go through on time?

Get the feeling he has Weghorst amounts of desire to play here and will give absolutely everything he has out on the pitch. He's not a bad player at all and has the potential to help us keep play ticking over whilst having the energy, aggression and robustness we sorely lack outside of Martinez.

Having someone like that in midfield gives everyone else a chance to focus on what they are best at; Casemiro gets to go back to reading the play and actually timing his actions, which is what his entire career and reputation is founded upon; Bruno gets to run around foraging offensive space to play from and our backline has more opportunity to push up.

He doesn't have to be Vidal or Keane; we need a proper midfielder in there with the prerequisite fury and doggedness that drives the opposition insane and gives his own team a lift.

We badly need a player of this profile and better get this over the line.

Hopefully he is a leader and fighter type. We need someone else keeping the team on its toes and leading by example.
