I think I would feel more confident about today’s game if he were eligible to play! I think he will help us a lot in games against the top teams so that hopefully we stop getting bullied in midfield.

Yeah it looks great.

I don’t think we’ll line up like that when everyone is fit. Mount and Bruno will start as advanced no8s. Amrabat and Casemiro will compete for starts at no6 and whichever is not selected will often come on as sub for one purpose or another. I’m not saying I prefer that line-up but it does fit EtH’s system better.
Good lord Hojlund needs to hit the ground running for this to work.

I don't expect to see him starting for a while. Casemiro was integrated in slowly with even McTominay preferred over him early on.

EtH:
“It was already, from the start of the season, one of my wishes to get another [number] six, a holding midfielder, in the squad because through the season you need that depth there.

“In that position we only had Casemiro who can play really well there. With others we have to make compromises but, with Sofryan Amrabat, we have another one.

“Also he can play alongside Casemiro because he can also play a little bit higher on the pitch. So it's very good to have him and I think he fits very good to Premier League football, to Champions League football. I think the demands are strong.

“He is very dynamic, he’s very good in the duels. So we are pleased that we have him at United and I think he will contribute to our high targets we set.”

He'll do fine because he'll at the very least be a nuisance for defenders and pin them back creating space.
I think United fans really have missed seeing what a proper number 9 can actually do

 so true. He only has to surpass some pretty low expectations, which in a way is great for his development.

If nothing crazy happens, McTominay isn't playing more than 500 minutes this season.
He's played centre back for Scotland hasn't he? Wouldn't rule out seeing a Casemiro/McTominay pairing in defence before the season's done at this rate.

I'm having horrible flashbacks to the Kuszczak, Valencia, Fletcher, Carrick and De Laet backline Fergie had to use that one time.

He's played as the RCB of a back 3 for Scotland, but wasn't comfortable. McTominays best performances for us have been high up the park near pressing the opposition.

We'd be better with going a back 3 if that happens than putting those two together.

Mount got injured thats why we loaned Amrabat. Similar to when Eriksen got injured we loaned Sabitzer. Its ridiculous to wait for injuries before signing backups/competitors for first teamers.
That's a bit concerning because in this case, we wouldn't have got Amrabat had Mount been injured a week later...
It’s not the case, it’s total bollocks, we’ve been after this guy all summer

Something got lost in translation, he actually meant that he had to be a patient (ie. injured) in order fit the profile of our players.

He's actually crocked and like Rasmus, won't be able to play for a few weeks.
This sounds like utter tosh too, haven’t heard anything of the sort before and since he signed.

Think he'll be a good asset. Im not exactly sure what his normal level is at, but atleast we desperately need his type of player.

I wonder if ETH will continue with 4-3-3 or if he'll concede and swap to 4-2-3-1. He says Amrabat can function higher in the pitch aswell, i wouldnt know, but sounds promising. Amrabat is atleast a midfielder who wants the ball and seems to be able to dictate the tempo and make our passing more fluid from the back.

From what i remember from Real Madrid games with Kroos-Casemiro-Modric, i remember Modric/Kroos often deepest in the midfield while in possession, and Casemiro abit higher in the pitch. And without the ball Casemiro went back infront of the defence. Amrabat and Case might switch roles like that between possessions.

Going after him all summer only to not let him play against Arsenal is still terrible mind you.

He was not signed to be registered in time for the weekend.
He also did not have a pre season because he was frozen out of team training by Fiorentina because he was set to leave for United since June

He will do well for us, and the spine of the team with Varane, Casemiro, Amrabat and Hojlund should determine that results will improve.

Add Licha in there as well, we will have plenty of determined players. Plus Antony, AWB and Bruno will always give you work rate. Hopefully with these players starting and remaining fit, we will be not overrun and easy to play against which is the biggest gripe I have. It's fine to lose if the other team is sometimes better, but losing because we didn't match their workrate and determination is shocking.

Let's hope we see him next to Casemiro with Eriksen playing in Bruno's role.

I'm sick and tried of him hiding in big games and giving 5/10 performances.

Depending on how he settles in the league Amrabat is the player we would want taking the ball off the defenders, will also give Casemiro freedom to roam upfield either in pressing or attacking runs as he is quite handy in front of goal.

Its the signing we needed the most after striker and goalkeeper because he should lengthen Casemiro's time at the top by being a genuine 6 that can play instead of him. We can then manage his minutes better, keep him fresh for longer. Especially if we invest game time in Mainoo so that he can be a semi permanent 8 alternating with Eriksen.

I don't see how getting Casemiro to do more pressing or attacking runs is going to lengthen his time at the top. I don't think he has the legs or stamina for that.

Seriously? Our best player of the last few years. In big games he has to drop into deeper midfield because of our other limitations and gets bogged down and ineffective.

If you think Eriksen is better than Bruno as an 8/10 you're not paying attention. He hasn't got the legs or intensity to do this role, and he's nowhere near as creative.

Is there any more information about his 'back injury'? Is it gone? Does he still have it? Can he play?

Back strain is so common associated with fatigue.

Footballers need some extended break apparently.

Hopefully this is just to get Morocco off our backs and he can have a workout at the club to get somewhat match fit in two weeks.

Could be a blessing in disguise (or excuse:rolleyes:) if he could manage to be available for Brighton. He hasn't been systematically trained for the whole summer so he could properly utlize the international break to catch up with his fitness level by missing the intl call up

Pretty sure playing international matches would be more beneficial for his match fitness

maybe our coach staff wants to fully supervise his training scheme rather than delegate it to the Morocco coaching setup. just a pure optimistic guess
