For once we have actually signed a midfielder who can help us in the build up phase.

I feel a bit like a child getting a Christmas present that's definitely clothing. I'm sure it'll be practical though.

Wonder who he would keep out of the starting 11, Mount or Casemiro.
Neither.

Insofar as we have a first eleven, for most games when everyone is fit will still likely be the set-up ETH obviously primarily wants with Casemiro, Mount and Bruno.

But nailed on first elevens shouldn't really be a thing. Amrabat should be good enough to step in for Casemiro or in place of one of the #8s as needed, because aside from needing depth different games also require different things.

Will hopefully help us actually start to control games and play some better football because we need to start showing that. Was quality in the World Cup but that's the only real experience I have of watching him.

Funny how life goes. Didn't seem much of a player at Feyenoord, now he's at Man Utd.

£8.6m loan fee + £17.1m fee + £4.3m add ons = £30m?
Ah, so now we just assume all adds on are achieved?

You know that generally tends to mean (all add ons), that the player has turned out a really good signing?
You’re pretty much saying there that 30m seems a lot for a midfield signing that is so good in his first year, we decide to sign him permanently, and then so continually good he achieves all his add ons?

No, I never said that. I think it's the going rate for a good midfielder nowadays. I hope the addons are achieved as that represents success, as you said.

You literally said “£8.6m loan fee seems a lot, means a signing would cost £30m.”

Which is why I replied that the loan fee is simply a down payment Fiorentina rightfully demanded just incase he doesn’t do well and we back out of signing him.
In that case 8.6 is a lot, but if we sign him and he achieves all his add ons, 30m in today’s market is a good deal.

My dibs is on Mount. Casemiro will get up to speed eventually. Started really slow last season also.
And ended a bit slow too. I'm worried Casemiro is already down the Matic path. "No legs left", etc. With everyone bit, I'll be controversial and say he'll replace Casemiro. Amrabat is suppose to be a good passer and we need someone to keep hold on the ball. Casemiro's weakness. Maybe come January, our midfield will look like this:

......... Amrabat - Mainoo
.............. Fernandes

Casemiro and Mount on the bench. McTominay sold.

He's going to end up being the most important signing this summer. Will bring the much needed balance we're missing so far.

Probs to Fabrizio for leading on this all summer too.

Think he'll depose Mount in the starting XI. Easy selection choices for ten Hag at the moment with all the injuries. Some of those players may face a challenge getting their place back. Very happy with this.

Now we just need all of them to be fit together.
An impossible task.

It's been a good transfer window and we've got the players that we've wanted in the current window. And the inclusion of Mainoo into the team is also a very positive move.

Replaced De Gea, broke the McFred partnership, and signed a young striker up front who has the pace, power and physicality to potentially develop into a very dangerous player.

All the signings that have been made along with integrating Mainoo into the team are for a proactive attacking play style. We still need to beef up a few more areas but thus far the players we've signed and brought into the team are for a attacking playstyle. And it remains to be seen how the team develops in the coming months once everyone is fit. But we're definitely targeting the correct profile of players and I hope we can raise the technical and athletic level further next summer.

Yeah, it’s easy just now as we have injuries but when they are all fit, EtH will have what he wanted - competition for places.

Hopefully they all push each other to new heights and Erik has a selection headache every week.

Next we need to get that same competition at CB but that’s a whole other transfer window saga frenzy to come.

Hell of a window. Here’s to the next one.

I'm already looking up potential Antony replacements.

Exciting signing. I do wonder how he'll adapt to the premier league but hopefully he'll hit the ground running. I don't expect him to be a starter though. People thinking he'll keep mount out of the team are dreaming! Mount was the main signing this summer and as we've seen with Antony, he won't drop him regardless of how well/badly he does. Soph will have to be happy with a bit part I think.

So you think hes worth 30 million with a year on his contract? How much do you think hes worth if he had 3 years on his contract? Presumably we'll have that situation in a year
How much would Kane be worth with 3 years on his contract? £300m? No, probably only a shade more than he was worth with one year left. It never works out as the bargain basement you think it’s going to be.

Hopefully a good singing and offers us a lot more tactically.

It's interesting to see how he pairs with Casemiro, I actually think he'd be better as the 6 with Casemiro ahead of him. Getting involved in build up and being a holding player, and allowing Casemiro to be more of a box to box.

I don't think Amrabat has the final third passing of Casemiro. So if he was the more advanced, I think it'd be too negative as a pairing. Interesting to see nonetheless.

Ah so you think he's in Kane's league. Lets see how he does, I think you might be mistaken

So what's the deal with his 1 year left on contract? What's stopping us from just not signing him next summer (at the end of the season) and then signing him for free 1st of July?

Are we certain (ie. official sources) its an option and not an obligation? Because it makes no sense, unless he simultaneously extended his Fiorentina contract.

Thats exactly right. Amrabat's passing is all about getting the ball on one side and then playing a long pass switching to the other side. Its not about creating things around the box and he doesnt have a goal threat. Casemiro does so he will need to fill in for him

Do you think United signed a guy on loan who has 1 year left on his contract? He has two years on his contract and he wouldn't cost United more than 25m till the add-ons are achieved. That's of course if we actually sign him permanently.

Pretty sure there will be fees involved if he performs well regardless of his contract situation. Should be in the agreement.

Always nice to sign players who actually want to play for you.

£8.6m loan fee seems a lot, means a signing would cost £30m.
Also means if he doesn't click were not attached to him.

It's a lot for a loan deal but it's pay to see first. Not against it with our signing record tbh.

It literally fecking gives you pounds and euros in the tweet.

If we sign him, the loan and fee with be around 25m quid. Nothing about that sounds “a lot”.
Fiorentina rightfully just wanted a good lump up front in case we decide not to buy.
You use "feck" so much, it means nothing. Fecking tiresome, you are.

Anyway, like you both alluded to:
8m for a loan is a lot.
30m if he performs great is a bargain.

Seems like a sensible gamble, if there ever was one.
