He completely lets Gnabry just get away for their second. He’s a big issue in the middle.

We played with 10 men today. That’s all I can say about Eriksen. Completely not up to this level.
Good reserve and maybe a starter against weak opposition. That’s all.

Agreed, as a manager you can't keep harping about discipline and work rate and keep this worthless baggage on the field.

If you want to be a solid pressing team, there cannot be any passenger in the team, especially in midfield.

The pen was b.s but the play that came before was infuriating. He had the ball with loads of space and somehow fecked it up without doing anything with it.

Completely useless deep in midfield. Just play him as far away from our defence as possible. Their 3rd goal was entirely his fault as well.

Career at the top level is done. Given what he went through it's not surprising and it's nice he's extended his career but let's be completely honest, he's currently playing like the 55 year old bloke with a decent touch down your local five a side.

He's a liability and on current form would struggle to get into Salford's team.

The absurd penalty decision will overshadow this but it was his fault they got the corner. What on earth was he doing just standing in the middle with the ball? Both him and Casemiro are way too slow on the ball but at least Case makes up for it with his tackling and forward runs, as well as goal threat.

Eriksen, to be fair to him was decent against Forest and Arsenal. But both the last 2 games he's looked as of the game is passing him buy and he's playing at a slower pace compared to everyone else on the pitch.

He simply isnt an 8 and his legs are gone on top of that. Shouldnt start for us again. Would use him as a sub for Bruno instead.

I mean, we know what he is. We know what he struggles with. We know that he can't play multiple games in a row anymore. Injuries have forced a situation where he had to do this. I wouldn't read much into this because there is nothing to read into. If Mount or Amrabat were fit, Eriksen wouldn't be in today or any big game, other than as a sub (which he can still do to a high level!).

Him and Casemiro is truly deadly combo.

Whole last season eth gambled on Eriksen doing sth positive and hoping we will get away with his lack of physicality. But he's way over the line now.

I always argued he's not a good squad option for that reason.

Is he actually in a solid state? The way players run through him, he might as well be in a gaseous state.
The man won't win a 50/50 against my 6 year old. The pen was all him. Lost the ball needlessly after dawdling, and then is unfortunately penalised on the corner.
Could have tackled Sane on the first goal as well. So many times he was passed to and he should have been favourite, but couldn't get to the ball.

Thought him coming out second half was a mistake.
He lost the ball, that lead to their attack then the penalty.
His hand was out and thats always going to be given.

45 mins is the most he can do (and that's being generous)

It's kind of hard to blame him. He has been playing a lot more than his fitness should allow so far this season, and it's showing. He is an excellent squad player to sub on in the second half when searching for a goal. He is not a player to be starting and playing full 100 minutes against the Brighton, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. It's mental that he does.

Worst player on the pitch - today and this season in general.

Started off well, showed his class in bits but yeah, a bit like the cup final vs City that. He just can't keep up and you can't have that in CM.

But ETH clearly knows this given he's signed another two midfielders.

I don't want to see him start a game again, he's an absolute liability off the ball.

Love the guy and what a great comeback it has been for him, but he clearly shouldn't be starting games for us anymore.

Unfortunately at this level, playing him in Central midfield is a stretch too far. Give him time and space and he can play a decent pass, but in the center of the pitch where the tackles are flying in and there is no time on the ball, he's too weak in the tackle, and it's not in his nature to track back. Make defensive tackles or press with any conviction.

Mason Mount was his permanent replacement, and now he is only playing regularly because of his injury. It's a shame, because he is a good egg, but the evidence is there. No tracking runners at Arsenal, and on Saturday, no tracking runners tonight. Same player, same outcome.

Eriksen can't be playing in games where we can't afford passengers, he just point blank refuses to put his foot in for the ball so it becomes playing with a man light.

He should have come off before he gave the penalty away.

Eriksen looked gassed after 20 minutes and his night went downhill from there. To some extent, you can't blame him. We all know he's not Camavinga.

Perfect time for Mount to return...he has joined the 'better when you are out of the team' club, now its time to come back and not feck up!

Then the Eriksen issue goes away.

I love the guy but his legs are completely shot. He should be coming on in the last 20 minutes of games where we need an additional bit of creativity.

No, I just don't rate him. Never have. He's always been too bad under pressure for my liking.
He’s also slow and weak in the tackle but he’s still a genuine footballer. Something a lot of our current side aren’t.

He needs replacing but as a free transfer, he is the least of our regrets.

The loss of possession for their 3rd goal is just so so so poor. How can you think you can have 10 minutes on the ball without getting tackled? Release the fecking ball.

Can't really blame Eriksen or even ETH. I'm sure the idea was for Eriksen to be like 5th or 6th choice cm this season yet here he is playing week after week against the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

I love the guy and he was definitely good for us last season but the time to phase him out has arrived.

He works in our team when we are on top and trying to break down a low block.

It feels like the last time we were regularly on top in games was last jan before his injury.

The new Juan Mata.

United never learn.
Misguided comment. Mata was a big signing and expensive, Eriksen on a free was a great signing for last season. Mount is already ETH’s pick over him at 8 and you’d assume Amrabat is above him for a deeper role.

Once the injured are back hopefully he'll find himself getting less and less game time. At the level where trying to get too he's just not capable anymore.

He should be banned from playing away from home. I think he cost us tonight, missed huge chance. Give away the ball before hand ball and fault for another goal. Poor casemerio playing with him, looks like a 50 year old at astro turf trying to keep up. Touch ain't going to protect you at this level.

The only thing good about the deal with it being free. Otherwise United would have been better off thinking about long term than signing both Eriksen and Casemiro last season. Remember that we suck at getting rid of players when they become past it or duds, so the last thing United need is short term players we will struggle to move on.
