I’m struggling to see it personally, looks a very ordinary player to me. Hopefully we see more over the next few games but I haven’t seen any major improvements over McFred at the moment, although early days.

Looks like a decent squad player, much better in second half. Not great in first half but in fairness it’s tough because Bruno was shit and Mctominay was AWOL so it’s a tough job for him.

He's not outstanding by any means but knows his job. He positions himself well, and doesn't give stupid giveaways needlessly. You'd think that's a given for a professional footballer in the highest tier, but you've watched United for the last 10 or so years, so it's great to at least have that

I think, he was alright and his effort at the crossbar was nice for sure. His mobility is helping us. Still pretty sure, he will be killed when played as DM. He is way too weak in the tackle or in 1on1s. This was to be expected to a degree. I'd hoped though, he would be balancing it out a bit more with his passing. Which is alright (the passing I mean) but 9 out of 10 passes are easy passes to the guy next to him. Granted, having experienced Fred and McTominay, that comes across as a pretty special thing and keeping it simple has its uses but occasionally, he should make use of his long passing, put on a little more zip and try to be less foreseeable. Looked better 2nd half but most likely because Sheffield dropped deeper and gave him more time and space.

The only midfielder we have who can play the #6 role in possession. But we still went direct which seems to be what ten Hag is instructing the players to do in the first phase. And that is likely due to who is playing at CB, and Maguire definitely is more suited to playing in such a way due to not having to play the game in confined spaces, which is a problem for him. Hence going direct and forcing the opposing block to retreat opens up the game for Maguire to make the big diagonal, which he's good at.

It's about getting results and hopefully Shaw and Martinez are not out injured for too long because they're two of our best players in the build up phase in confined spaces and can progress the ball.

I prefer players who are consistent in their applications. he rarely makes unforced errors like Bruno, Casemiro and Fred. he does not have moments of brilliance but you can trust him to play his role consistently. you need that in your team. I don't like erratic and chaotic players like Bruno. everything is inconsistent. failing to make a pass that any amateur player will make then producing a world class pass later. Bruno performance range from 0 to 10 in a single game. it so strange

When you're missing Martinez, Shaw and Varane it takes away the ability to progress the ball in possession as well as having the ability to control the defensive transition which both Varane and Shaw are good at. So it's about getting results or else you're going to be in trouble. And the game tonight was about playing to the strengths of the players you have at your disposal and going direct is what ten Hag chose to do.

He's a coach that wants to play through the thirds but playing through the thirds is very difficult and extremely risky with personnel who are uncomfortable playing in confined spaces.

I don't know what Ten Hag has said but I watched the game. And after watching the game I'm making a observation on why we were going direct.

Before we bought him I said he looked like a Europa level player to me, and so far that's what he is.

That said, he's not bad, can move the ball about and keeps possession well. He's fine in a pivot. His game falls apart when things gets frantic because he's rather slow and his first touch isn't clean enough

I can see your point, but don't you think, if that would be the case, we'd be a little more compact? This is the thing, I don't get at all - I think being pragmatic with our injury list makes sense, play to our strength as long as thats the best bet. But why are we so out of sync all the time? There were many occasions, when McTom bombed forwards, Dalot went into midfield and pushed up. But the long, direct ball then is powerless and dumb which then comes back when we are completely out of balance.
