He was right on the stones incident. Bruno was to blame for many things today and spent the rest of the game moaning at others. You may disagree on a couple of individual incidents but Bruno is beyond appalling.
What I disagree with is Neville's double standards. He won't utter any bad words toward Rashford who has been more appealing in general play but has no problem gunning for Bruno to the extent he blames him for fouls hes not even involved in.

I'm still fascinated by him being a pundit while having completely failed at Valencia.

But he’s consistent with that ? It’s about all he is consistent with. He’s always been very focused on foreign players and reluctant to step in on English players. Doesn’t make me disagree with him on Bruno but absolutely he comes across as xenophobic

I'm talking about expected consistency, which is to evaluate players fairly. Not consistency in being incompetent.

Bobby Charlton failed at PNE. Should be not have been a Director?

Keane has been sacked at multiple clubs and has not had any sustained level of managerial success. Richards and Cara never managed.

Neville is a good pundit, imo. Good co-commentator also.

You just can't trust him. He's apparently an Englishman but hates roast dinners. Something doesn't add up.

He's very inconsistent. At times he makes great comments and has good insight and at other times he's just way off base with stuff he says. Just yesterday he basically contradicted himself by admitting there were on the pitch issues, while trying

Carragher is a far better pundit than him on the whole, although I think they are both poor when discussing the clubs they support as some bias and narrative comes into it.

Do you know I followed his Valencia side a bit, and by all accounts they were a pretty good team. Their biggest problem was putting the ball in the back of the net. Neville tended to set his team's up okay. They were way too big an outfit for him to be in charge of though.

I think you’re the only one looking like a “ see you next Tuesday “. Regardless of peoples views on his takes, he’s literally the definition of a club legend.

I mean, a legit United fan should know this right.
When I think of legends a very basic half decent right back doesn't really spring to mind but to each their own. Anyway despite his legend status, the guys boring as hell, made Carragher look a genius on yesterday's post match commentary. He's so draining to listen to.

Neville is often right, not always, but often. However his non-criticism of English players makes him hypocritical and hard to take seriously.

Does Carragher avoid criticising the English Liverpool players?

His hate for Bruno ruins his commentary on most United matches. And not to mention his obvious bias towards English players. He will never call out Rashford for his lack of effort. He will also never call out an English player for diving i.e Foden yesterday.

He is too close to and involved with the club and the England setup. These are literally his mates and it kills his impartiality.

I also wonder if there is pressure from the FA as we all know how they like yes men around the team.

If he was a basic, half decent right back I don’t know what adjective you’d use to describe the ones we’ve had since.

'Legend'. Give it a break! And even if he is a legend, the guys a total pleb of a guy. Look at him on any other programme, the guys a bully and complete and utter see you next Tuesday. Couldn't care less what he did for us on the pitch.
Fecking hell, I've read it all now! Gaz not a legend. :wenger:

We know there is pressure from the FA. Keane broke the fourth wall on live TV briefly by saying "I know we need to protect the England players but.." when he went on a rant about a couple poor English players in a club game.

Well done he’s 13
Why do people get so upset when a United supporting pundit disagrees with them or has a difference of opinion. He's more of a red than any of us ever will be. When you're on the screen for as much as he is these days then he's bound to say something a bit off. But more importantly, it's just opinion, who cares!

Man Utd - 1992 - 2011
Over 600 games for united
8 Titles
3 fa cups
3 league cups
2 champion's league
fifa world club cup

PFA Team of the year x 5
PFA Team of the century

He's literally one of the most decorated English footballers ever, won and achieved all of the above and we have to see some newbie like yourself state that a club legend was very basic :nono:

How was he right about the Stones incident? Bruno did absolutely nothing wrong on that one, there wouldn't have been any contact at all if Stones hadn't stuck his own foot in late and caught Bruno with his studs. The amount of people in here saying that made me go and watch it again and there was absolutely nothing in it from Bruno. I actually remembered it as a hard but fair challenge, but it wasn't even that. It was literally just Bruno kicking the ball after Stones had taken a poor touch.

There was one or two later that he was absolutely petulant and deserved criticism for, but the Stones incident was the perfect example of how Neville will force unrelated things into the narrative he wants to create. In this particular situation he even would have been right if he'd just waited a few more minutes when there was an accurate moment, but there are often times where Neville creates his narrative and nothing happens. Indeed, the fact that so many people in here seem to think Bruno was at fault in the Stones incident actually shows how much a commentator creating a narrative and speaking strongly about it influences people. If Neville hadn't gone on about it, not a single person would have had a problem with what Bruno did in that situation.

His comment about Antony deserving a red card was also ridiculous. Antony was petulant and obviously deserving of a yellow card, but if that was any other team in the league Neville wouldn't have made his red card comment.

Remove your nose from his anus at once. You could've put Sun Jihabi in the team we had in the 90s and noughties and he would've achieved as much.

I don't know if it's pressure from the FA or not but he's right, for some reason English players, or in particular England internationals, get treated with kid gloves when they're in bad form or put in bad performances.

I think that's why Keane is so watchable as a pundit. I don't think he's particularly inciteful from a tactical point of view but you know he doesn't give a shit about slating a player just because they're England stalwarts (eg Maguire and Pickford to name two examples).

Yeah. Him trying to slap Alan Shearer when we were losing at Newcastle was all about geeing up his teammates. The subsequent red card was designed to inspire his teammates to pull the score line back.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Keane was hated by everyone not us and, frankly, I liked it that way and I'm sure he did too.

Completely this. Carragher and the rest will eat it up. I'm sure TalksH!te will be all over it too.

If you go by some of what's written on here you'd think Roy Keane was like Captain America.
I watched our 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in 1998 recently and apart from Vieira absolutely running riot with an insane performance, what struck me was how Keane was by far our best player along with Becks and was constantly trying to push the team forward even though he and the team was being dominated. He was very petulant like Bruno, could have been red carded and Vieira was winding him up, i don't argue against that, but the difference between him and Bruno is that I feel Bruno feels sorry for himself and blames everyone and throws his hands in the air, whereas Keane was just constantly pushing himself even in losing battles. That's a massive difference in captain quality.

He is right to lay blame at glazers but why won't he call out the technical director of the club who has a big influence on what we currently are, is it because it's his mate Darren fletcher, would he be more harsh on the person in that position if they were foreign and never had any association with the club previously?

Because its all irrelevant, the root of the problem is the ownership, its pointless talking about any other role at this stage, until we see a change in ownership it'll just get progressively worse.

He's usually OK until one team has the game won, then he just starts picking on the losing team and being ridiculously dramatic to the point you cant even call it punditry.

It was amusing when it was Arsenal and he ended up taking on their fans for some reason, but otherwise its just annoying to listen to.

His microphone should gradually get quieter as the game goes on so that by the 80th minute he's just talking to himself.

I think overall, if you're a professional pundit, your analysis shouldn't include things like claiming Bruno Fernandez should be sent off for telepathically causing Anthony to foul someone.

Then again his colleague spits at young children and once had to spend Monday y Night Football apologising to the guest pundit for the time he participated in a racist campaign against them, so he could be doing worse.

Which full time pundits have had a good post playing career? You could argue Souness had the best of the bunch and he was awful to listen to.

Not to mention Fergie, the worst loser of them all. Which is why I don't get his issue with Bruno. At 0-3 down at home in a derby, Keane would have been charging round sending City players to the morgue
Thats the laughable part about Keane moaning about Bruno. Keane ran up to refs and screamed in their faces, he often got sent off and he admitted to trying to injure Halaand. He was guilty of everything Bruno has been accused of.

I like Neville but be really let’s himself down with some of these debates. He tries too hard to prove his point that he ends up saying something stupid. For Instance

Ange Postecoglou came into a 'stable environment' at Tottenham. Erik ten Hag didn't."

When you come out with absolute nonsense like this people will gradually stop taking your opinion seriously and just see you as an agenda driven muppet.
