Gaming Grand Theft Auto VI

Time for trailer bingo. I fully expect to see a shot of alligators, airboats, a theme park, an old Cuban-style car, some palm trees, and snorkelling..

Be interesting to see what they do different from GTA 5. Objectively it was an excellent game for what the concept of GTA is, but I don't know what else they can change with it. Just different city and characters but same thing otherwise? Like someone said... It's fun for a bit but not sure if just driving around and causing chaos hits like it did when I was younger.

If it's for the current gen of consoles, I suspect I'll be making a purchase this weekend.

I've had my eye on Spiderman 2 and PS5. If GTA6 is coming out on PS5 next year I'll be buying the console this weekend.

I think it will come sooner than we expect. Probably end of next year.

Yeah, I think the release will be end of next year. With the next generation of consoles coming out in ~2027-2028, they'd want this GTA to have considerable sales on this generation of consoles as well.

Although, it'd be really interesting to see what changes they've made to the game this time, as I felt GTA V was excellent (even by today's standards), and I'm not sure what can be added to the game except more cars, a bigger map and missions

I'd put good money on Don Johnson being a part of the cast. Googled his name and Vice City just now and found this.

Shame Ray Liotta's no longer with us :(

Needs to be more dense imo. Better logic applied throughout the game, more smaller interactions and consequences. Lots of interiors. Maybe even have a finite amount of NPCs and killing a shopkeeper means someone else replaces them? Or the place closes down for a while? Red dead toyed with that concept a little bit.

They need to take the mindless stuff you do to a new level and have that impact ripple throughout the world to increase immersion imo. It won’t do to just carbon copy GTA V with a new map, characters and slightly different cars.

Fully expecting them to ruin it with mtx and superfluous shite

Probably some kind of heist ultimate team

All i want in the online portion is a game that doesn’t have hideous menus and take millennia to load and jump in games.

I doubt it. There were none in the story for the last one, nor were there for RDR2. They make so much money from the purchase and online games that they do not need to spoil the main game. If they add cosmetic shit, then good for getting money out of anyone stupid enough to buy it.

It won't be in the single player but I'm betting the single player will be far more streamlined/shorter. They'll want to shift focus to the new GTAO as fast as they can to rake in the money.

I cant wait. I still play gta5 online once a week. Its easily the most played game I have which means gta6 has a lot to live up to for me. Hope they can deliver

Any rumours about time period and city/s?

Vice City era is my favourite and would love to see them go back to it with current gen.

This has been dragging on for so long I haven’t an iota of interest left

I'm not concerned. Rockstar have a history of creating authentic, vibrant worlds. GTA V was absolutely massive, and they still managed to pack it full of events and Easter eggs.

The map size will have to be significantly larger than RDR2, as traversal is so much faster in a car. You could probably drive from Valentine to Saint Denis in under 2 minutes in a Ferrari, where it probably took around 10 on a horse.

I'm just disappointed it's likely to be set in Miami. There are so many great potential overseas locations, yet GTA seems to be on an endless loop of New York, LA, and Miami

I would've preferred Liberty City or a Midwestern location like Chicago but wasn't there some Bloomberg article claiming that eventually it's possible that the map will be extended with new story content too? Would be great if they could do something like EFLC for IV with whole new cities.

The trailer is going to have to be pretty special – the last one was 12 years ago, and having spent that much time with the game, there are going to have to be a lot of new things added and shown off in the trailer. Seeing two people hiking towards a mountain is not going to cut it – no matter how beautiful it all looks. Not saying they need to exactly entice people to buyit, but will take a lot more to impress people now.

That said, it's crazy how much they did manage to show off in that trailer! And, at the same time, it's crazy just how much they have added over the years.

It's basically confirmed to be an expanded Vice City/Florida map.

I remember finding it incredible that you could fly a plane to Liberty City for a mission in San Andreas. That kind of thing would probably underwhelm me now :(

I'm also curious how they balance the realism vs fun. When it launched, if you wanted one of your planes delivered, then you would call for it and it would be delivered to the nearest airfield, which whilst realistic, meant you then had to trek to the airfield to get it. Later on, you could instantly spawn a helicopter right behind you – which is a lot more fun if a touch less realistic.

GTA really established the sandbox-genre and I would like them to really evolve this by giving the player more freedom in terms of missions/heists and how you carry them out. I don't doubt the world itself is going to be amazing, but would love it if you could add the character controls from MGSV, the freedom and inventiveness from Hitman to a new sprawling living world.

Probably going to be the highest selling video game ever. Red Dead 2 is Rockstar's best ever game in my opinion, so hopefully continues where they left off.

Yep, me too. The 80's feel really suited the series and a new version / remake using the latest engine would be brill.
Definitely.

Been watching the Narcos series and the rise of the US drug scene and seeing Miami in the 80’s would be a quality setting. The music alone on Vice City was memorable and felt great to just cruise around the city.
It's meant to be modern day, I don't know if it will be multiple cities. Probably not.

Not feeling modern as that’s been the timeframe for the previous 2 main titles.

However, I do think this will make me invest in a PS5 when it’s released.

I don't doubt there's going to be loads of brilliant little touches and details like in RDR2. They're very good at that. Add that to an improved and more up to date gameplay loop and it'll be fantastic.

Yeah if they recapture the details of Red Dead that made exploration so damn good then it will be amazing. No other game made doing nothing as fun as Red Dead either, you could spend hours wondering through forests or mountain ranges and seeing what happens.

Maybe cause GTA V story never caught up, at least on me. It was great and all but never had fun as much as I did playing San Andreas. Maybe we're just too old.
San Andreas and Vice City were the pinnacle of the series.

Could have not already recorded the dialogue before he died?

They will miss a trick if they don't include a different iconic city, New Orleans, and have RDR2 Easter Eggs around.

I suppose at a stretch you could fit that into the west end of the map?

It think it's going to be pretty much Vice City, with a big Florida section to the west, and the keys forming a big long island going down and west.

Accidentally pasted your Tinder bio?

I would like to see a different country. Thailand could be wild. You get jam-packed, gritty cities for the classic GTA stuff but also cool islands and jungles. It's also tourist-heavy so the use of English would be plausible for story.
