Excellent finish, although I never had any doubts he'd get back unto speed after a little time. He's got a lot to prove and if he's keeping his head down and working then he's going to be the world class player we always thought he was.

Having watched his performances for getafe this season, he's miles above our current players.

I watch man utd and want them to win every match. I really couldn't care less what footballers do off the pitch tbh. That doesn't effect my life. Man utd results do. Morality in football today is neither here nor there. Look at the owners of football clubs etc. you can't pick and choose what to get upset over

It's also about the quality of the finish. Do we have anyone in our squad who could do that once in a while, talk less of Greenwood who has demonstrated the ability to do it repeatedly? Create space for him and he'll execute that move more often than not.
Also, remember that he's currently playing foe Getafe who are hardly a free flowing football team. I've watched some of their games and they usually struggle to get the ball into the final third and maintain possession there. He's currently doing great all things considered.

With due respect, it doesn’t. The whole technical sequence is way beyond Antony’s scope. That’s world class stuff.
This, the entire sequence is what makes it brilliant, and not something unusual either. It's always been there, and good thing is that he's not lost it.

If he can come back from all that happened then he has a lot of grit. Could potentially be a catalyst for him.... Still a long way to go but he's ahead of my expectations, which were pretty low to be fair

It will be "fun" time for our future CEO and DoF next summer. He is easily worth 50-60 mil. But any buyer will know that we "can't" keep him.

Great goal and anyone that has seen him play know he has a lot more in his locker.
Hope he can improve further and go on to have a great career.

I mean, 5 goals/assists in La liga in around 7 full games for a side that scored total of 17 goals in 14 games (double than what he played so far) is looking impressive.

I fully expected him to struggle a lot this season, and to end up as someone fans will rather forget and mention from time to time when he scores in some random leagues - Ravel Morrison like, but the talent is obviously there and he is still young and smart on the pitch to use that talent. Hopefully we can finally make some money from selling a player.

Don't think he was ever going to struggle that much. He wasn't out injured, he just wasn't playing, so he didn't have to get fully match fit whilst having a recurring injury problem in the back of his mind.

Clearly a talented player, shame he's never going to show it again in a Utd shirt, but he has no one to blame for that but himself.

There were some excellent talents who struggled to get back at the top with similar situation, that's why I mentioned Ravel who was probably even bigger talent. That age is quite difficult, IMO, with so many problems off the pitch I reckon some player just lose the motivation to even train properly. He is probably strong mentally.

In the Championship yes,

Slight difference between that and La Liga, no matter which way you try and spin it.
But goes to show that Amad probably needs a loan at a high level team in similar circumstances really..

Based on a footballer playing football it really isn’t an awkward decision. His performances warrant a place in our squad.
This isn't the right thread for it but it'd be ridiculously naive to think it will be or should be that simple. Weghorst was in our squad last season so I don't think we ever needed to have a debate about whether Greenwood would be good enough to get in it.

It does, it really does.

Unless you expect someone who hasn't played for months, has minimal senior top level experience to suddenly become ready.

He's an inordinately talented footballer and looks like he's getting back on track. If he fulfils his potential he'll be world class. I still hope he never plays for us again.

Great finish and good for him showing that he can play from the left wing - I know the goal came from the right but he's picked on the left for Getafe and has been playing there. Its not something we tried here.

As you say wrong thread, I’ve built on the discussion elsewhere. In short though, it really is only as difficult a decision as the club chose to make it.

Back to his performances, 6 goal contributions in 10 games.

He is definitely way ahead of schedule. Only expected such numbers to kick in after their Christmas break.

Is it me or he seems to have added back some of the muscle (but not all) lost during his suspension? Especially his upper body. Was really a bit thin when he got there.

I think you will find that Sunderland are a bigger club than Getafe.
Sunderland missed out on the final play off for the final Premier League position so the standard was pretty high.
With the football we have been playing of late there could be an argument made that we are not playing high level football and if it was down to me then Antony would be put out on loan to make way for Amad as he is just simply a better footballer

Yeah he’s definitely gained a bit of muscle. Looks about 80% of his old United form at the moment imo.

hmm, almost as if Greenwood has already done it at first team level for United in the prem.
