Yeah, so we will send Bayindit back and buy another no mark back up keeperSame as in the summer then?
I agree- the only positive part on the surface would be that whenever one of the more entitled 'stars' kicked up a fuss about being dropped or playing in such and such position, he'd be able to calmly shut them down with his CV. In that sense it'd be like (the past promise of) Jose except without the managerial histrionics and negative football. In terms of the actual coaching and improvement of raw/unfocused/recalcitrant players on the other hand....Jaysus old eyebrow features would be a disaster at United. This team does not need a hands off approach.
I think that depends if we can offload some players...I dont think we will sign 4 players if we don't get rid of anyone firstLies. There is no way!
We'll let Sancho out on loan with us paying minimum 150k/week for him to play in Italy, maybe sell DVB for peanuts and that's about it.I think that depends if we can offload some players...I dont think we will sign 4 players if we don't get rid of anyone first
The only way I see 4 players coming in is if we loan no-marks again. We aren’t in a position even post SJR investment to buy 4 players of the quality we need, especially in January.I think that depends if we can offload some players...I dont think we will sign 4 players if we don't get rid of anyone first
Yea agreedJaysus old eyebrow features would be a disaster at United. This team does not need a hands off approach.
At most we'll get 1 and most likely none.Anyone thinking we will get 4 signings in January is living in cloud cuckoo land. With the amount of money spent and borrowed in the summer I can't see us getting more than a loan signing.
RCB only happens if Varane is off, a DM probably only if Cas is off or Amrabat cut short, and a CM would find plenty of bodies to contend with long term, so maybe a loan if fitness issues continue to be as bleak as they have been. As for a striker, we'd be silly not to be looking, and very lucky to find one good enough in this market. The smart money is probably on a loan there too.Tweet

Only if it means persuading the new Bellingham to sign for us instead of Dortmund, or making a convincing case around player development to the new batch of precious Irish (if we're stretching British to including British and Eire) talents potentially signed for relative pennies with an appearances/sell-on clause. Not paying half our transfer budget for players whose profiles could have been bettered -in purely physical and technical terms - by French players available for half the price....Tier 1:

I am always sceptical towards a player who's never scored a lot in his life, before suddenly everything falls into placeTier 2:

His numbers may not have been elite throughout this career, but he's been getting better over the past couple of years and looking like a much better goalscorer. This season's is a continuation of that upward rise rather than a sudden period of incredible form. I watched a few games of his over the past couple of years, and he has an incredible knack of being in the right place at the right time, which helps him to get numerous goalscoring opportunities. His finishing's gotten better as well, which is why he's in such incredible form now.I am always sceptical towards a player who's never scored a lot in his life, before suddenly everything falls into place
Before Stuttgart he had scored a grand total of 70 goals in 207 games - which is very average.

Has no objection against signing British, but what is "good enough"? I meant the standard set for the club performance, and recruitment target. British talents are usually overpriced. Unless they're great, simply good enough may not be good recruitment strategy.Tweet

You may be right - I would just prefer if we signed a proven goalscorer over a few more seasons. But for the price mentioned - it may be worth taking a gambleHis numbers may not have been elite throughout this career, but he's been getting better over the past couple of years and looking like a much better goalscorer. Well that's the thing isn't it. Nothing wrong with signing British as City did with Walker, Stones, Grealish, Milner and Sterling. Or as Liverpool did with Robertson, Milner and Henderson. Or as Arsenal have done recently with White, Rice and Ramsdale (given he was relatively cheap).Has no objection against signing British, but what is "good enough"? For example: AWB is good enough for the squad/ specialist role in certain circumstance. Same can be said about Maguire. But they're overpriced. Can do a lot more with that money keeping cheaper British talent like Smalling around and invest in foreign good enough talents.
I think it would be better if nobody made transfer decisions and we just left them to make themselves…..Brexit Jim better stay out of transfer decisions.
Surely we can get Todibo at mates rates?Still pricey but £60m for Guehi would actually be reasonable (not saying he should be our first choice target though).
Makes no sense, we have Martial to share the load.

We haven't bought a lot of crap strikers - midfielders and wingers, now that's where we are experts at buying crap. Lukaku was ok - just not good enough. Cavani was good, same with Zlatan and Ronaldo. Martial has fallen off a cliff but he had a couple of really good seasons. I would say our problem over the last 10 years is that we have bought too few strikers.Has a club ever bought more crap strikers than us? Especially true budget ones in January.
Chelsea known as striker graveyard for a reason. Even Giroud short successful tenure with them as rotational option couldn't cover the long list of unsuccessful striker signings.Has a club ever bought more crap strikers than us? Especially true budget ones in January.
