We've given up, that plus all negativity surrounding the club, I'm expecting a pasting. Hopefully we dont see any of the mercenaries anywhere near the starting lineup, or the match day squad at all.

I'd rather we lose playing some of the young lads who give their all, than see any from Player Power FC set foot on the pitch.

Is this overblown by the media? Almost half?

Quote; "Several players have referred to training sessions as like 'boot camp'."

It should be boot camp, the way some of them have been performing and behaving.

I guarantee other teams do more running than we do - I guess the answer to our issues might genuinely be as simple as our standards in terms of fitness have fallen a few percent season on season, whilst most other teams are now vastly improved to where they used to be.

Where as at Liverpool new signings and players weren't even allowed play or join first team training unless they passed the pre season lactate blood tests. And this was seen as a good thing.

Poch at Spurs, used to make the small sided pitches bigger so players had to run more to press and win the ball back. Even at Chelsea he's been praised for making the players work harder and run more in training.

But at Utd having to work harder and run a little bit more isn't fair.

players dont like running as punishment? Yeah you're not supposed to enjoy a punishment you spolied little twats. Maybe don't break the rules then? And the punishment improves your fitness.

Sick of these pandering stories making out the players are hard done by. We had during LvG, Jose, Ralf and now ETH. I'm not buying into this crap any longer.

It is far more complex than that. They are nearly all seasoned internationals. United played more matches last season than anyone else. They had a tough preseason, already lots of club and international matches. Nearly every play will be carrying a niggle or two. Running them into the ground given the intense schedule would be insane. ETH's lack of rotation has been blamed internally for some of the numerous injuries.

If he has any balls then Rashford doesn’t start this. But he’s a hypocrite and Rashers will start.

They don't get it wrong often.. maybe last season Everton 8/1 at home to Arsenal.. strange price that .. also Utd at home to pool 11/2 I think they were that was generous as well.... Chelsea all the way on Wednesday. UTD are just devoid of any ideas on or off the pitch..
Yeah the odds aren't surprising. Watching the two sides this season Chelsea are far better, finishing has let them down.

They have a really quick forward line and far better defensive midfielders. That may lead to them winning the ball on their half and counter. That’s often a recipe for disaster for us…

Ideally Varane in for Lindelof but can’t see it. Think playing Mainoo and amrabat in a 2 would give us some control.

Support the manager, boo Rashford and chant Sancho out.
These players can’t get another manager sacked because they don’t like having to put a shift in. Sick of them.
Chelsea will prob win or get a draw but it would be nice if we had a go at them and the players tried for longer than 20 minutes.
We were on a upward trajectory till Fulham in my opinion.

Control would be a four man midfield and trusting Hojland and Garnacho up top.

Were so mediocre against Chelsea now that they dont even need Martin Atkinson to help them get results.

I remember in one of Mourinho's last games at United we drew 2-2 with an Arsenal side who were just as bad at defending as we were. Think we'll see a similar outcome in this game. Coincidentally, that was also on a weeknight in December iirc.

I think this is the first of 4 games to save his job.
Do badly in this , against Bournemouth and the go out of the CL, maybe Europe altogether and get another pasting from Liverpool, I think his position would be severely under threat.

Yep I think this game is pretty big symbolically to. If we get a half arsed performance and a draw/defeat it will be hard to comeback from*

*Personally think we should back him, but the negativity run away train will probably be out of control by Liverpool.

Agreee. Half of them injured and the rest look worn down. Running more in training would be a bad idea.

No matter how much truth there is in the statement, we can at least see that building squad fitness hasn’t been a success.

I've grown increasingly confident. They are dross and they are missing Connor Gallagher. I think we can get something here as long as Rashford, McTominay and Martial don't stand. Those should be subsequently disposed of in the summer as a matter of urgency regardless of who is going to be manager next season.

Wait, Chelsea missing Gallagher makes you confident? How important is he for their football? Has he grown into a Lothar Matthäus level mid?

You never know which Chelsea will turn up this season. If they're on their game they should beat us comfortably. If not then, even playing as we are, we'll have a chance. They've got quite a few injuries too so that should help. Although I thought that on Saturday with Newcastle...

I'm sure they are running if that's what they're being asked in training. The point is you're not usually supposed to be doing hard running so often when you play as many games as us. Rest is key. And usually tactical work too but we don't do that.
Exactly. If they are being run into the ground in training its no surprise they dont run in matches, especially given the schedule and injurires

Left to me, we would see:

    Onana

    Reguilon
    Shaw
    Varane
    Dalot

    Mainoo
    Amrabat

    Mount
    Bruno
    Antony

    Hoijlund

We need to start seeing more support in midfield. We've been getting continually caught in transition since Jose's days ffs and somehow it remains a problem. If we can't address it positionally, then I believe we need to start fielding players that are more willing to spend time in that area.

The odd plucky 3-0 result isn't sustainable when you get caught out as many times in a match as we do. This Chelsea team could easily blitz us if we leavr ourselves as open as we have been.

I don't get why so many are failing to see this, they're missing the whole point of what's being said. We had Fergie here for many years and he used to talk about training between games and how it was about just getting the legs moving but plenty of rest and light work. Fitness is maintained in playing regular games. Anybody not paying regularly would sometimes train separately as a group to get some miles in, but not what we're doing now.
