Or give our top scouts more influence which is kind of sacking Murtough sideways.
Scouts do not map out the footballing path a club wants to take. The successful clubs these days appoint a high quality DOF who can map out a footballing direction true to a clubs traditions and ideals and then populate it with a manager, coaching staff and players that can bring it to life. On rare occasions they bring in a DOF after the fact of hiring a manager and it works.

If we keep ETH thats our likely path. Either way it will be our most important appointment after a high quality CEO of the David Gill ilk. Assuming clique Ratcliffe really want success at United.

2 months. The guy has zero authority and unlike Ole isn't the players mate. Chelsea bullied him, our players are more established at the club and will undermined even acknowledged footballing powerhouses like Mourinho.

Potter would be a disaster and probably need sectioning after. We'd drive him completely mad.
I was probably too kind to Potter. And you're right. He'd be throw out of Hogwarts within a year probably.

United are the club your parents warn you about. Trouble. Stay away.

Actually think van Gaals wife told him to stay away for his health thinking back. And Mourinho doubled in age, which considering he'd been at Chelsea and Madrid before us speaks volumes.

People also forget Ten Hag had long luscious locks when he joined. Spitting image of Ginola in his panten days. Look at the poor bastard now, as bald as the Spurs trophy cabinet is barren.

Dumb logic. All in the name of there is nobody can do better job than ETH. ETH ******* is deluded as feck.
Can we ALL stop this shit now? It’s pathetic.
Ole in vs Ole out was tiresome. Now we have folk name calling cultism.
Simply being of the opinion that ETH should be given time doesn’t equate to a ****, in the same way others should respect the opinion that his time is up. Why must this fan base always fight amongst itself?! :wenger:

If Potter is the next the manager. Then you know Ratcliffe is there simply to stop protests and have the fans supporting mediocrity

Potter is nowhere near good enough.

Brighton improved with De Zerbi succeeding him.

I’m fairly sure the Potters are more interested in a different club.
United could always go full banter club and appoint Pottermus our new manager :D
Funny thing is The Potters are after Potter. That's how far his stock has fallen.

Never go full banter.

Steel cage match Ole vs. Potter. Winner gets the job.
There are worse ways of selecting our new manager, like letting our Board decide.

Get off your high horse.

Go look at the conversation. There is no respect toward SAF, when the implication that a SAF in his prime wouldn't fix this mess; AND SAF decided to retire because he somehow was scared working with the Glazers :wenger:

That line of thought, fans of what? If not the **** of ETH?

(oh and times have changed, I’m not sure Sir Alex would be able to fix this mess, prime or otherwise)

Feel free to stand by opinion. Just as people think you belong to ETH ****. Don't expect respect when you show such disrespect toward SAF.

None of this happened.

Fergie would have the current lot confident and preforming probably above their best as a unit. Still might not win us the league. But rewind to last summer and put Fergie in charge, with all the money we've spent, and we'd look a hell of a lot better. He'd have gone nowhere near half or any of these players, he'd have made Kane a priority as he was smart enough to know a goalscorer is crucial.

If he hadn't fixed it yet, we'd be on our way back for sure.

To bring a new permanent manager into this mess with a partial takeover on the horizon would be stupid. To bring in a De Zerbi or Potter who have less impressive CVs than Ten Hag into United in their current state would be very silly as well. Stick with Ten Hag until the takeover is done, make changes structurally, then asses the squad and the management team. If then Ten Hag isn't deemed the right man then fair enough.

Ideally for me the takeover would be completed, a new structure introduced, transfer responsibilities taken away from Ten Hag, let him focus solely on coaching and see what he can do next season under that setup. If he fails to perform then let him go.
Well said. Ten Hag isn't perfect, but changing now is missing the point. Spend the rest of the season working on the structure above him, give him the rest of this season to just work on tactics and style of play with the players now we don't have midweek games to worry about. If we're still shit by the start of next season and we've got a viable alternative lined up, then make a change.

The key point. This mess right now - I don’t know if he could fix.
Like I said, he'd get some fire in them and have them playing as well as they can. Last year we got 3rd whilst not being amazing. Think we'd all be happy we were going to get better at least. I don't know though, do we really have a worse squad than Villa, for example? Not for me. I think we have some issues in the squad but I do believe we're capable of much better than we're seeing.

Do that yourself.

I don't take advice from some random nobody on the internet, whose opinion is rubbish.

What changes do you want to see made to our structure and how long do you think it will take? Do you think Ratcliffe is on the verge of buying into the club but hasn't established any of this and had conversations with these people?

I think it'll be in place already and announced when he's official. They've already shifted the CEO before they've got their feet under the table. It looks to me like they're unofficially running certain aspects and I suspect major changes will be announced as soon as he arrives. However, I don't think they'll want the team to sink too far and leave them with an even bigger task to arrest the situation, so they'll move the manager on sooner if they need to.

I'd love to see how prime Fergie dealt with the modern footballer. I think there would be more emphasis on the academy in order to avoid the type of person common in the game today similar to bringing the class of 92 through and changing the culture from within.

For ETH credit last season, this squad can do much better than this. This mess right now is nowhere as bad as it's to be believed. Man management and tactic has been poor from ETH. Playing a style ETH is inexperienced with.

Manager gets to choose signings. A manager who actually cover many important aspect of DoF would fail this badly, given the money to buy money?

People must think David Gil, Peter Kenyon were the DoF and SAF just benefited from the directors' recruitment work?

The future direction of the club is vital to answering this question. We've got a squad that, effectively, is built to play pragmatic, counter attacking football. Is that the future? If so, go get someone like Conte and just lean into it.
Conte would raise a whole new mess. Great manager but a toxic person behind the scenes.

I like Alonso and he'd definitely be on my shortlist (along with Inzaghi, Flick and Simeone).

Having said that I remember ten Hag's Ajax winning dead rubbers in CL whilst losing at half-time. Did they win all 6 games a few seasons back?
Would any of them be interested though, there is no doubt getting some of the egos and deadwood out is needed. However we know what these leeches are like when it comes to their fave player and marketing machines.

Exactly. It's very convenient to shift all the blame on players characters, when there is more ETH's now than last season. Why didn't ETH showed these players the door last summer, but instead Rashford Shaw Dalot got contract extension? ETH had no issue to vetoed DDG contract offer right? ETH had the whole of last season to assess these guys right?

Tactic for this season has been poor. It's not just slightly underperforming. This season the performance is reaching disastrous level where previous managers deservedly got the sack.
