This bolded part is often overlooked. He was a run-of-the-mill academy lad who benefitted from a major injury crisis, a few well-timed goals at the start of his career and a club desperate for a good news story.

People forget, if Will Keane hadn't been on loan (or injured, I forget which) Rashford wouldn't have even played against Kobenhaven. He was that far down the pecking order.

I honestly, honestly think had he not had that run of goals when he broke into the first team that he'd have ended up dropping into the Championship in his early 20s and probably ended up playing for a bottom half Premier League team for most of his career.

He's arguably a player who's built his entire reputation on roughly 40/50 good games in his career across three little purple patches and some world-class PR
That's kind of ridiculous if you ask me. He's essentially a 1 goal in 3 games winger over the course of nearly 400 senior appearances. That used to be very good. He lacks consistency but that also used to be an accepted trait for wingers.

As much as we are all frustrated at not seeing Rashford go to a higher level or even just having a reliable standard from season to season it's also pretty ridiculous to suggest he wouldn't have made it all had we not had that injury crisis. He took his chance as many players have in the past.

Agreed, many of the same fans will welcome Greenwood back because we don't know all of the evidence have decided Rashford should be shot when they don't know the full story and only know what was printed in The Sun of all papers
I hope all those demanding Rashford be sold immediately aren't on another thread calling for a certain other player to be brought back from Spain in the summer.
is that actually the case or are you just saying that ? sounds weird to me and i havent payed enough attention to who wrote what.

 How many people are refusing to celebrate now?

You can all feck off
Saddest part is they’ll be a certain section of fans who’ll be happy were winning but annoyed he scored.

The overreaction people have bought into is embarassing.
9 minutes of play convinced you you were right all along and everyone critizicing him is an idiot.
good start and im happy. you guys are ridiculous

What are you so upset about? It's almost like you're annoyed someone paid a fine, apologised and was allowed to play football again.
Says the guy multi quoting me in the thread who scarpered away when challenged. I’d ask Why are you so upset about what I think about Marcus Rashford.

It's another lose-lose situation for ten Hag. If he continued to not play then media and certain fans who look for any angle to have a go at the manager would get on his back for falling out with another player.
I'm Ten Hag out but if he had enforced the standards that he claimed to be setting then it would be a plus in my book, now it's just another media line he's spitting out.

 What exactly was I challenged over? You seem to be carrying a lot of anger towards random people online. I don't even know who are you are mate, or what you've said that had me 'scarpering'. Maybe I just had a life and decided to do something else that quote deranged posts?

I’ll save my outrage for after the game. If he genuinely has trained hard and is coming back in with a point to prove, it’ll be the correct decision. Let’s see what he does on the pitch first.
Had a feeling. :)

Ah the classic redcafe posting technique of repeatedly declaring the poster you’re quoting is “angry” and “upset”:….. in a discussion on football on the internet …..with text .
Coupled with a laughing emoji to emphasise that said poster is the opposite of “angry” and “upset” . And congratulations on having a life!

It makes him happy,
Con Tequila he feels fine,
Con Tequila when the goal is open,
And con Tequila when it's scoring time.

So I went back to see what exactly had me 'scarpering' expecting to find something well constructed but I guess you're referring to your post where you describe Rashfords personality like you know him intimately and I said you were projecting because there's no way you could actually know any of that without knowing him.
I didn't reply because there's no discussion to be had, you still don't know any of that stuff to be true. I've had mates that have been bang into gear on nights out, I've never touched it. I work in the app development business but I don't spend more than an hour a week on social media platforms. Just because something appears some way from the outside doesn't always mean it's true. What's that expression? Never assume, it makes an ass out of u and me.

Kneejerker alert. Same shit, different year.
Cry more.

He won’t score or assist every game.

I maintain if Rashford is your 3rd/4th best attacker you’ve got a good attacking unit. Him being woefully miscast as a Aldi Mbappe is the fault of our recruitment team that have failed to hit on purchases.

A Manchester United player scores & you’re bitter. Give your head a wobble.

Just look at your childish replies and you dare lecture me?

Then you go and state that he should be our 4th best attacker if we're actually serious about winning anything when he's actually our supposed best player by wage and status by a country mile. Do you have a split personality or something?

Trying to have a rational discussion with some of you is literally a lost cause. No amount of logic can convince you water is wet.

Don’t be subversive. No need to get personal. Stay on topic.

Edit: Dare lecture you  You’re some geezer on the net, like we all are. Relax.

Totally missed the point of the post but you are a Manchester United fan on a Manchester United forum getting upset because a player is playing well after a tough week.

Just say you don’t like a man you’ve never met & move on.

I’ll continue to wait for your rationale. Comprehension might be your best bet first though.
