Jabra headset and 32 inch curved monitor coming separately?Heard untied have shipped him his laptop with log in credentials. It’s done
Problem is the credentials have been sent via fax machineHeard untied have shipped him his laptop with log in credentials. It’s done
Already got them down from Martin Samuel's suggestion of £60m to c.£20m in less than 24 hours and still looking to bring the price down further, the Berrada effect already in action.
Hes not a recruitment specialist.Doesn’t really make much sense what Newcastle are doing for a sporting director in practice. Surely he can just tell someone in conversation who tells someone who tells someone that United should buy X player on gardening leave? How can you stop that?
I wonder if INEOS could employ him as one of their employees and not the club's until this gardening leaving issue is sorted? They can afford to keep him on the payroll if they are fuming about this. I'm curious about a gardening leave situation though, how strictly that is normally adhered to. If he was seriously appointed and not in situ before 20 months, I would assume they are circumventing that gardening leave in all but official capacity.
Wouldn't the gardening leave clause hold regardless of who the employer is, even if it were some different field? Would be interesting to know. Didn't he serve a gardening leave after leaving Brighton? Maybe Newcastle can fill us in on how to circumvent the gardening leaveI wonder if INEOS could employ him as one of their employees and not the club's until this gardening leaving issue is sorted?
But I'm not sure it's in Newcastle's best interests to drag this out. There wasn't much of connection between Ashworth and Howe at Newcastle and it seems the player Ashworth brought to the club from Chelsea (Lewis Hall) for £34m isn't wanted by the manager. It's not a surprise that Ashworth has stepped down.
We reached a settlement figure to effectively tear up his contract and waive our non-compete clause.Wouldn't the gardening leave clause hold regardless of who the employer is, even if it were some different field? I think they'll relent eventually because Howe seems to be in charge of things at the club. I think they might accept a compensation figure similar to what they paid to Brighton. But I don't think we should pay anywhere close to the £20m they're asking for.Wouldn't the gardening leave clause hold regardless of who the employer is, even if it were some different field? Ah. Cheers. We reached a settlement figure to effectively tear up his contract and waive our non-compete clause.
Of course not. That would be a Woodward-esque move and quite contrary to what Omar has said previously (in what is required to be taken seriously as a club).I think they'll relent eventually because Howe seems to be in charge of things at the club. Contract law. If found to be acting directly or indirectly on behalf of another party contrary to his current employer’s interests, while under contract to an existing employer, he would leave both himself and conspirator (in this case his prospective new employer) wide open to a lawsuit.Doesn’t really make much sense what Newcastle are doing for a sporting director in practice. I think Newcastle will hold out until September 1st and then I'm going to presume he will be allowed to join us. In the meantime I think we should be fine in the transfer window because the players to buy are put forward by heads of recruitment and not the DoF. And with the Glazers hopefully not actively involved, it should correlate to it being a smoother transfer window.Ah. Cheers.

Newcastle fans are losing their minds over this. They have resorted to calling us Newton Heath on Twitter
Almost certainly not. His contract will stipulate this. There is no loophole to be found; it will very likely be a case of a long, expensive negotiation between Ashworth’s team and both clubs to find a solution. He’ll sit at home until then.I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but if he is prevented from going to another club for 2 years, can he not just work for INEOS as sports director?
It really irks them that we are referred to as just “United” and they are referred to as “Newcastle”
Delicious
Or he just works from home for 20 months in some unofficial capacity. The whole gardening leave thing is bogus.Let's just hire someone else for 20 months and let the petty cnuts pay him full salary for chilling at the crib with shawty.
24 month notice period seems a little excessive, even for a senior exec. I presume it's more like 12 months notice, with additional post-termination restrictive covenants (the latter of which are obviously easier to challenge and less likely to be enforceable). It won't happen anyway - he's already on garden leave and it's in all parties' interests to reach an agreement.Basically saying he has a two year notice period? Yeah, don’t believe that.
Probably a ploy for Newcastle to try come out of it looking better than just rolling over in the press.
They have a good amount of reports that they have to sell next summer to hit ffp requirements. If they are not exaggerated, they are absolutely under pressure to get compensation for him and not pay his wages. They can afford to keep him on the payroll if they are fuming about this. It should get done for anything between 5-8m .What compensation figure do you think it would take for us to get an agreement with them
Yeah but why would they? Despite how sh1te we have been in the last .... well what feels like forever, just shows Utd are still one of the biggest tickets in town. Ashoworth going from Brighton to Newcastle nobody cares. Going from Newcastle to Utd is a big thing. Plus offering more salary would only hit them on FFP anywayCan't the Saudis just offer him way more money to stay
This is a key point. I don't think this will get messy.Ratcliffe and Saudis are probably on decent terms with the amount of business they do together. This is all PR
Oh no
It will be £2m in the end. There’s not a single scenario where a non playing member of staff is worth more than their contract.Already got them down from Martin Samuel's suggestion of £60m to c.£20m in less than 24 hours and still looking to bring the price down further, the Berrada effect already in action.
Just being themselves then.Newcastle looking incredibly small time
