Loved the first 3, one of the few franchises that has gotten better with each film. Glad they've continued the story rather than another reboot as was mooted over the past couple of years.
I hope that the spaceship that went missing in the news reports in the first movie reappears from its wormhole and crashes at the end of this movie (And Mark Wahlberg gets out ).

I've been hesitant towards this, largely because every time the ad for it comes on they have the quote "the best one in the series." The first one was okay and the others pretty meh, being kind.
I can't remember how many of the original 5 films I watched. Certainly 2 or 3 of them and possibly all 5. I know I saw the 2000 reboot and one of more (possibly all) of the last 3 but barring the 1968 original I can't remember much about anything that happened. Not sure if I'll bother with this one.
It was brilliant. I'm really hyped for the next one. I'd give it a 9/10. Really enjoyed it.
I honesty thought there were humans inside the bunker. Smart humans that will be pissed and armed to the teeth, decimating every ape they see. It was fun seeing the apes perspective and seeing our world, like the symbols that are just ABC's to us. Now theres an even bigger danger coming for them. ..do they have nukes?! Loved the speech at the end between the girl and the ape. I was weirdly getting pumped as the smart humans are alive and ready to fight back.
Nah I thought the 2nd movie was unreal. Koba being one of the best villians. Seeing an ape Duel Weilding 2 LMG was a fun watch. 3rd was very good too but the 3rd act kinda went in a weird direction
I can't fecking wait to see this later on this week. I'm a huge fan of the series. I grew up with the classic films and adore them. The recent trilogy was awesome. Only reason I haven't seen it yet is because I've had something on every night this week and just haven't had time yet. Can't wait.

Saw this last night. I thought it was great, actually. A lot better than I thought it was going to be, after the superb trilogy that we just had. There's not a real noticeable dip in quality and I thought the series continued nicely with this film, whilst also being the start of something brand new.
The only blemish on the evening were the ultimate dickheads that were sat on the back row. There were 4 teenagers who clearly did not give a shit about the film. They were talking quite loudly throughout, annoying people around them. At one point, you could quite easily hear them full-on punching each other and giggling. At the end, I gave them a right earful. Not as much as the wife who gave them a proper telling off. Lord have mercy on them.
The ending of the film sets up a sequel rather nicely and shows the possible direction they may go. My wife had a theory about the telescope showing a wormhole, since there was a line about a hole that 'eats light'. That could just be the telescope itself, but she thinks it's what the scope is showing. Interesting.
Mae is a very interesting character and I could easily see her being the antagonist of this trilogy. Thought they did a good job of introducing her and adding that constant mystery and intrigue about who she could be. I initially thought they were going to reveal her as a Charlton Heston-esque astronaut who has crash landed on this planet.

Like others have said, this was much better than I expected. The recent trilogy is one of my favourite trilogies ever (the second and third in particular are just such excellence) and I was very worried this would be a cash in on that previous success.
Instead I got a grounded, mature and interesting story entirely informed by the previous films, that managed to tell a compelling self contained story while also setting up some future storylines that seem full of promise. Very, very pleasantly surprised.
