I know motta at bologna said he needs a rocket to get him playing well, but he's young and I think he can be extremely useful if he plays like that.

Thought it was a decent cameo, also good to see the fans get behind him.
Macuire didn't complain about the pass, whether it was low or 20 cm. A player at this level must know how to kick. Not even Zirkzee should think that he's passing it to a central defender, there was a teammate better placed to score and he thought about the team and not himself.
He got cheered when he came on today. Nice little gesture from the fans!
He did alright when he came on. That's good for him. However, for me at least, I expect a striker who plays for Manchester United to take that shot on themselves at that particular moment of the game. It's all about being brave, confident, and good enough to take on that burden and responsibility. Passing it to another player in space (a centre back, no less) is fine...as long as that pass is sensible and gives them the easy job of just slotting it away.
Trying not to be too harsh, but I 100% expect a striker of ours to go for that themselves. Worry about the offside matter later on, but he has to take that on.

Low level of confidence for sure
Nice that he got a good reception off our fans but the pass to Maguire was really poor , Roy Keane says Harry should have been expecting and have been ready for a poor pass when he saw it was Zirkzee.
But any professional player at any level should have been able to roll that back to Maguire instead of bobbleing it like he did.

The issue I have is Zirkee has been at the club for 5 minutes and is 2 goals behind Hojlund with more assists and fans are booing him, and calling him all sorts. Hojlund last season went 14 games without scoring or doing anything and there was plenty of sympathy votes and excuses.
This season Hojlund has been even worse and I've never seen the fans boo him or make rumours up on him being sold
Shocking is probably a bit over the top. It wasn’t perfect, it was on the bounce but it was in stride and the correct weight. Maguire’s technique wasn’t the best but he’s a centre back so not really a criticism.
I thought Zirkzee showed some huge resilience and mentality today. Came on in a cauldron and did not hide, the fact he was in the mix and there to try and win it for us after the other day was really impressive.
Fair enough I guess but I would say that the pass was almost 100% the correct decision, shame about the execution though.

Perfectly fine angle for a forward. If Martinez was able to pull a shot from as tight an angle, he should have as well. He is a Man United forward. He should be taking those.
Low on confidence or not, no striker worth his shirt should be doing anything other than taking that on themselves. Disappointing decision making and never mind the quality of the pass.

Just because you're a striker doesn't mean you have to shoot on sight. It was a good decision to square it for a tap in. The pass wasn't ideal and the finish wasn't either, maybe leaving it for Garnacho would've worked, but the idea to square was absolutely on

Zirkzee has a very languid style of playing, not dissimilar to Paul Pogba's (and we know how much some fans hated him). Hojlund on the other hand is obvious in how much effort he's putting in.
I feel everything was set up for him, match drawn, final moments against Liverpool at Anfield to have a go and get the winner. He just didn't have the confidence or the bottle to take the shot on from there. Even the pass was simple just lay off five yards, he gave a bouncing pass, Maguire should still score, but he should not have made it difficult, that's the difference between average and classy players, they pass it how they expect it to be received.

Yeah in that situation he made the “right” play but I think any great striker is looking to bury that.
I wanted him to shoot too because if he never develops an instinct for being aggressive in front of net he won’t make it here.

Effort and passion is compensation is run of the mill, you can find that in the Sunday League. This is the problem I love passion, I'm a passionate fiery individual myself, but it's useless without application and learning the right moments to utilise the Fire.
What did all that passion and effort achieve for Hojlund for 80 minutes? All I saw him was running into blind alleys on the channels passing it back or getting dropped to the floor. Zirkee without having to run himself rugged got himself into dangerous positions within 4 minutes and should have had an assist without that essential ''pashun''

Funny seeing Roy Keane defend the pass from Zirkzee, saying that in that situation he'd expect a shit pass from him, it's all about knowing your team mates. If he's on the receiving end of that pass, he wouldn't be so nice about it.

That's actually the point. That would have been the perfect riposte to all those who criticised him. But you need courage to make that choice in that split second. He didn't have it there.
