I’d swap Onana for any keeper on the PL (except any of the Chelsea keepers). This game would have been comfortable if not for him.

I doubt there is anyone who thinks Onana is the answer. But that’s still doesn’t mean letting DDG go was wrong - that was absolutely the right decision.

This is where I am at with the goalkeeper situation.
The problem with Onana is he creates goals from the other team out of nowhere. Most of these errors are unforced where there's barely anyone in the vicinity. Like I can understand palming a shot that was already on target into your goal but some of these errors are lunacy and others come when it would be easier to simply do nothing
I changed my mind when he had that run of good form early in the season but Im back to where I was before. He is possibly the worst keeper we have seen at Utd in a very very long time. Taibi was bad but he never got the number of chances Onana got and so hard to know if Taibi was as bad as this.

I thought he always looked ropey, on the admittedly few occasions, I saw him play for Ajax, but in that CL final for Inter he was outstanding.

For the goal, if Onana didn't call it (and I'm assuming he didn't), then I'm laying 90% of the blame at his door. And I would do so for any keeper in that situation. They're the ones who can see the whole picture, and every defender knows that the shout of "KEEEEEPERRRR!!" means leave it.

That’s before you even have to consider the fact that Onana didn’t just need to be better, he needed to be £45m better.

Watched him first hand tonight. He had very little to do apart from pick the ball out the net twice. The first one was very poor by him. Rash and lacking a voice. He did the one thing you shouldn’t do in that situation getting caught in no man’s land and it cost a goal. Any worryingly I watched his reaction and he barely even flinched.
The second goal was also very poor. He didn’t follow the ball and it came across so slow that it’s remarkable he got so distracted by the forward. If Delap had got a toe on it, fair enough it’s a good goal but your job is to follow the ball into your gloves.

If you read it carefully I didn’t go into whether DDG was good enough. The question was and still is, whether Onana is an improvement?
For the first goal he totally misread the situation. The pass was never on from where he was wanting to receive it. Even if Dorgu hadn't knocked it round him, he could only have booted it into the stands, which Dorgu could have done anyway.

Basically champions league campaign last time round.
Funny thing is even his highlights before we signed him showed he had serious issues.
