Yeah I haven't been convinced for quite a while, but it's becoming more and more clear that he can't turn this around. Even the most patient and valiant supporters surely must start to have doubts?

He said that Onana was trying to help the team by giving them a rest - not wasting time at home in an FA cup match that we really could have done with winning.

He said that Garnacho hasn't scored for 19 games becuase of his knee.

He said that Lindelof was a good choice for the penalty - he's been doing well in training and he was confident.

In practical terms, I know he won’t be sacked, because the club has decided to work with him. This constant whinging for him to be replaced etc just seems futile and daft to me. He won’t be getting sacked, and nor should he.
 
If we back this chump in the summer we are either: getting relegated next season, or have another ETH season where we realise how bad he is when it’s too late.
The job is way too big for him - you can tell how poorly he is managing his PR duties lately. He’s lost his charisma and replaced it with negativity.
The system doesn’t work and if we have manger that doesn’t know anything else then it’s a bad appointment. Go back to 433/4231 whatever, but it will be cheaper to sort than buying players for a failed system. Write another £15m off because sticking with him will see us relegated.
The blind support he has on here is admirable given he has been out played in every single game. What are people seeing to suggest he can even keep us in the league?

Wingers aren't excluded from teams defensive efforts. Yet both players seem to interpret their roles like that playing more like wing forwards than wingers. ETHs system also had issues because of that.

Ruben isn't to his system as well. It is reported that he tinkered with his Sporting team, switching players and roles to make best use of the squad and exploit opponents. That requires a good set of players though and right now, we aren't even capable of defensively controlling a game while playing with 5 nominal defenders.

I think the formation factor is pretty overstated in here. We are lacking attacking contribution from fullbacks for years. We haven't seen a really functional midfield unit since Matic, Pogba and Herrera. Our wingplayers stopped creating for others but waiting on others to create for them, also feeling above putting in shifts against the ball. We ended up in a situation with two young and inexperienced strikers who go through a rough patch. Opponents are aware of our weaknesses and ready to exploit them. Another formation isn't a cure for those things and no formation will be able to mitigate so many weaknesses.

There were enough fans who were calling the level of performances dropping further and further yet were ignored since results were good enough. Now reality is hitting us hard, exploiting all the bad decisions from the past 10 years. Placing all that in front of the door of the guy who is here since 3 month is just not reasonable. If you hoped for a new manager bounce thats fine.

The fact that anyone, never mind so many, continue to defend the complete and utter shit show that we’ve been watching week in week out since his arrival blows my mind. I feel like I’ve walked into another reality. We’ve gone beyond the looking glass. No one expected miracles overnight, but this is beyond even the lowest expectations.

I remember the days when the likes of LVG, Jose & Ole were sacked for not being in the top 4. Those were the standards. They’re now looking like the glory days of post SAF era and we’ve now entered a period where just not quite being bad enough to actually get relegated is enough to ‘earn’ another season. It’s absolutely insane.

Blind support? He is here since 12 weeks and people openly call for him to be sacked. How is that blind support? On top of it: not pushing for a sacking isn't the same as supporting a manager.

I seriously don't get it - what are you guys doing if we add another manager after paying 10 odd million for compensation and this manager then ends up failing as well? How often do you go for the exact same strategy? Amorims ideas aren't exotic. Just like ETHs ideas aren't exotic. We aren't failing because the team is unable to perform some crazy voodoo 3-4-3 magic, we fail because we get outrun, out worked and concede goals from corners while a third of the 1st team is out injured.

Zirkzee and Højlund are just inept. Garnacho is great at running at players but nothing more.

He's gonna have to because he needs credit in the bank, otherwise as you say, I don't think the new owners would want to repeat that mistake again. The Europa League this season is now absolutely massive for the club as a whole. People say we have no chance of winning the EL- well he has to do something to make that a chance because that's what's needed.

If we can beat City and Liverpool in an FA Cup run last year I think it's not impossible to go on and win the Europa League. Everything would have to fall our way though and a lot of luck would be needed. Old Trafford has to be rocking in the home games, players have to be at their best like they were against Liverpool and City and Amorim has to be at his best.
 
Manager tells the world this is the worst Utd squad ever and that the majority are free to leave. Same manager wonders why those same players won't play for him and his system. It's a real head scratcher.

This is utter nonsense. Only loons were talking about a title challenge and meaning it. Plenty were saying the squad was bad, most knew we'd desperately struggle to score goals this season.

We couldn't even fully fill out the bench, we had 2 keepers on there and one of them was a kid. I cannot understand how people expect more? He's playing all defenders because we have nothing else. Yes Dalot is dreadful in the left but there are no other options. Yes Hojlund is dreadful up top but there is no one else to fill the slot in the squad.

Things are truly looking bleak for us this season but what did we expect? All of our attackers are playing for other clubs. And everyone we are trying to build the squad around is injured!

Imagine today having Amad and Bruno in tens with Mainoo next to ugarte ,Shaw LWB and Martinez LCB, it would be completely different. Then just add Mount of the bench to make an impact.
 
I think the injury to Amad has completely killed what was left of our play. Coupled with the Mainoo injury and the fact Shaw has been out so long.

Of course we should be doing better than we are.

Those who are calling for the manager to do something different, that is a fair comment and he could theoretically go to a 4231 for example, but if he is wedded to his formation then it makes no sense to play a different one.

Personally, I feel no team should be wedded to a particular formation and that you should cater your team to the opponent.

Why can’t footballers learn to play different systems? NFL players need to learn hundreds of different plays, it’s not much to ask.

If the board keep him on for next season, they better not target players specifically for Amorim. Because a manager starting this badly at a big club and turning it around rarely if ever happens.
 
I'm not worried about Amorim's ability as a manager. I'm worried about the inability of our players to perform the most basic tasks expected of PL footballers.

We let 2 wingers leave on loan in January. I don't know if that was done with Amorim's blessing or if it was Jim trying to save more pennies but having both in the squad would be better than not since we didn't replace them. Just another example of how poorly run we are even with Ineos calling the shots.

Wrong manager at the wrong time. We're strapped for cash and he needs a complete rebuild to make his system work. I hope I'm wrong but I just can't see it happening.

But Dalot can’t play wing back either. He’s been fecking awful. Try a different player. Try a different formation. Continually doing the same thing that doesn’t work is not good management.

Pretty convinced both loans or lack of replacements were down to the club. We were dangerously close to breaching FFP rules.
 
It's bloody difficult watching us play right now. No doubt about it. I am totally behind Amorim as I really do believe he'll get it right with a squad that will support his tactics.

I accept some people won't believe that but whatever side of that debate you're on surely anyone can see we're absolute bare bones at the minute?

The bench today was just abysmal. When Victor Lindelof is one of your best 5 penalty takers then your squad is shit. Hard times, just want this season to end because I don't see it getting better.

I don’t even care about titles. I’ve been lucky enough in my life to see unprecedented success, I just want to see good football now :-(

Yes, we need better players. Current evidence suggests we likely need a better manager too.

I already see the same posters repeating the previous mistakes. Slag off everyone but the manager and wanting players specifically for the manager brought in before they judge him.

Because this formation, this system is his baby. He isn't changing. Nor should he. As for Garnacho, Amorim clearly feels that he isn't a fit for the wing-back role. It isn't indicative of anything. He's used attack minded players such as Quenda and Amad in that position.

He shouldn’t change despite stacking evidence it doesn’t work? A manager unable to change is a manager destined for failure. To his credit, Amorim has achieved that very quickly.
 
It would be be more interesting if Amorim could have access to his squad. I mean it’s no world beating team but it certainly looks like it has some energy and a bit more quality. Binning rashford yet not replacing him was insanity whoever signed that off at the club.

I'm in the same boat. Amorim isn't helping it with the results but the squad is genuinely pretty bad. The injuries make the situation far worse. I am of the belief that just 2-3 different players would completely change the make up of the team but Shaw, Mount, Diallo etc. just can't stay fit. Then Dorgu who looked very promising goes and gets sent off just as we start playing well in that game. It is beyond frustrating.
