The Trump Presidency : Part 2

meanwhile, the nasdaq is now up today, and s and p on its way to that before market close
Probably due to dip buys. The markets response will play out over the rest of the week.

Import duties don't apply to money, so traders will be making a killing no matter what happens.

I mean at this point it seems he is a shill for Putin, no?

Trade wars with his closest trading partners, Canada and Mexico.

Talk of dropping sanctions on Russia

Saying Ukraine started the war and withdrawing support

They’re coming to a place that I love so much. This is just a destruction of what the country has built over decades.

And he’s not hiding it anymore. He doesn’t feel the need to hide it, which tells you a lot about the state of U.S. politics.

I’ve not seen a lot of Trudeau before but his news announcements recently (and today in response to US tariffs) seem quite balanced, clear, explanatory, factual. Is that the norm?

Yeah, Trudeau is class. The fact that the Far Right hate him so much is basically a testament to that :p

The problem people have with Trudeau isn't really the presentation: he's always like this. His opponents just dislike, or even hate, what he stands for. And at some point, the presentation becomes part of that: on some subjects, he talks a good game but delivers nothing useful.

Anyway, if you had expected some kind of bumbling and/or unpleasant idiot, I'm afraid you've been reading questionable information sources.

I hadn’t “expected” anything.

I was mildly impressed by a politician who can succinctly explain his views and actions without needing to scream or throw their hands in the air or resort to insults… and wondered if that was the norm (his simple eloquence more than anything).

Move along, nothing to see here. Apparently he's just dumb and do it for himself, like that matters.

Russia doesn't have anything the US needs, nor are Russia interested in helping the US in any away. The only conclusion is that Putin has something on Trump and Trump is compromised.

This is the problem with American journalism. You let this guy call Trudeau a Governor instead of correcting him and saying he’s the prime minister. They let these people get away with it. Fecking joke.

Trudeau has definitely been class since the tariff stuff began, it helps that he is undeniably a proud patriotic Canadian. Even the staunchest conservative admits his last two national addresses have been on the money.

He went wayyyyy too far left though, and some of his decision making has been so incredibly short sighted. Patriotism ahem "trumps" everything though for your average voter, so he's managed to claw back what was going to be a resounding victory for conservatives at the next election. Fair play.

Totally serious administration.
Now the move has ruffled feathers among those closest to President Donald Trump, including his senior White House staff.

That’s actually really upsetting.

What an actual fecking joke. Tate is a rapist and sex trafficker. A man of honour he absolutely is not.
These far right extremists wouldn’t know what honour is

what else do we expect froM CNN, NBC and Fox.

It’s the same in the UK where the BBC and Sky especially have been evidently biased towards Israel in their coverage.

You can’t trust mainstream news outlets any more.

Ah, in that sense. I guess we are still relatively lucky in Canada in that respect. They're aren't a lot of leading politicians that are completely out there. (The Alberta premier is probably the main suspect here.)

'Wayyyy' too far left? Economically, Trudeau has been as centrist as it gets. He's been very interested in progressive issues, but even there he's been more talk than action in many ways.

Are you in Canada, or where are you getting this from?

I live in the states, close to a border.

There some BBC journalists across radio and tv who are still good. Victoria Derbyshire is one of the best at holding people to account .

I’m rather loving watching the US self destruct.

One of the longest running imperial powers is being systematically deconstructed by Trump and his band of merry men and women.

This is just plainly false on so many levels, he's definitely left.

Trump to have an important speech in a couple of hours according to the big news stations. Gonna address the future relationship with NATO and discuss a potential deal with Ukraine. Lord knows what's gonna happen here
